Haunting of Hill House is a must-see series if you’re a horror fan. Tackles some very deep topics while also providing the spooks
It's my favorite piece of horror content of all time. I've rewatched it like 5 times
The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass are the best Mike Flanagan shows imo. They would rank pretty high on my list of favorite shows of the last five years.
Midnight Mass is his best I think. The hook of that show is crazy good.

Wow! Really hope Dan catches some of those Mike Flannigan shows. My personal favorites are the Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass, the latter of which I think might be his masterpiece.
Mike Flanagan's Midnight Mass is a masterpiece! The concept was brilliant. I especially loved how the breadcrumbs sprinkled throughout the series were resolved by the end. So satisfying! Highly recommend it and The Haunting of Hill House.

When I heard about Killers of the Flowermoon I was disappointed to see Scorsese went in a magical realism direction as opposed to historical drama by having Leonardo DiCaprio's character marry a woman over 25.
You have to watch 'The Haunting of Hill House'. It's 'Two Storms' episode is one of the best episodes in television history.
The Creator is the most underrated movie of the year
I really wish I could see Killers of the Flower Moon in theaters. (But I'm in a stupid health crisis) It looks so good. Lily Gladstone is an amazing actress finally getting some recognition. Her appearances on Reservation Dogs (a stunning show that deserves more love) were utterly profound.
Midnight Mass was my favorite show of 2021.
So excited for “Lessons in Chemistry”! I finally read the book last month and the series looks great!
Midnight Mass from Mike Flanigan was my favourite series of that year, and is certainly worth watching.

The way you're describing your outing for the Eras Tour movie makes me think of an away team mission exploring a new planet in Star Trek. I super pumped to go see it since I didn't get tickets to the concert! I'm not watching it this weekend since my Swifty cousin won't be in town and we're making it a girl's night later this month. cannot wait to see the numbers on this phenomenon and your take on it. I appreciate that even when a film is "not for you," you still give fair and thorough reviews like in the case of Barbie and Sound of Freedom. Keep doing an excellent job and please say hi to Mara and the cats!

Yeah. I watched 3 episodes and felt like I had everything that I was gonna get from it. It wasn't bad, but definitely tiring and repetitive
Right.. We go on a whole mystery involving a vampire and a catholic community slowly turning into vampires, But it was so boring 😂😅 To each their own

In his review of The Eras Tour, Dan needs to wear a bunch of friendship bracelets. I will be so disappointed if I don't see at least one bracelet, lol.
Cool to see that Moonlighting is coming out on streaming. It gives me hope that sometime Homicide Life on the Street will get streamed. I think that show helped pave the way for shows like the Sopranos and Breaking Bad, but I've read that the rights to the music used on the show have always prevented it from getting streamed. Fingers crossed.

ooooo, i'm looking forward to Killers of the flower moon.
the trailer looked good...got a little impatient so i got the audiobook of the story. thought it was a really interesting story and an interesting angle of a big FBI case. this was definitely a story that only Scorcesse could probably tell. and after reading the book I can kind of see if DiCaprio might be in the running for a best actor or supporting actor for his role if not some of the other cast members in this movie. I'm excited for it. 👍❤
I personally loved midnight mass. With the religious trauma and horror it vibes with me more. My partner likes the haunting of hill house more though

I'm curious why people want to know the entire setlist before going to a concert. I heard a lot of fans were mad about Taylor's setlist decisions throughout the tour. Part of the fun for me is the surprise.
It’s not a live concert though right? Isn’t it just a compilation of footage from the tour?
It would be interesting to se Eid we enter an era of concert films because ATM concert tickets are not only expensive but also near impossible to get for popular outings. This could be game changing for the music industry as a revenue stream.
You're not in a weird reality Dan- I saw the Creator Friday night and loved it (would have seen it opening weekend but I was on holidays). One of the best movies of the year
I don't know if it's just because the regal near me is relatively small but Friday to Sunday they are only showing Taylor Swift. I was curious as to what other movies they'd be showing this weekend, but it turns out there are no other options. This is wild to me, didn't think that the eras movie would have this level of monopoly.
It's not this week but really looking forward to Killers of the Flower Moon, looking like some excellent Martin Scorcese, heres hoping 😀

I know it's not exactly new as live streaming of concerts is a thing, still, I'd like if more live performances got recorded for those who weren't able to actually see it. (+ let's be honest, even if you did get tickets, chances are you were so far away you had to watch the artists on the screens anyway, since in-person they were only small blobs obstructed by the heads standing in front of you)
People reccomending Mike Flanagan's series are really underselling Bly Mannor. Midnight Mass is my favorite, ut Bly has the best ending of them all.

House of 1000 corpses is one of my fav Rob Zombie films, Devils rejects being the best. Definitely worth watching.
Mike Flanagans shows are always good, but as said many times Hill House and Midnight Mass are excellent!!!

5:20 Flangan's movies are great, but his shows put them to shame! They're phenomenal. Midnight Mass has taken the spot of my favorite show of all time. HIll House is also nearly perfect. I like Bly Manor a lot, but it is certainly underwhelming in comparison.
I forgot about Midnight Club for a minute. It's totally different from the others. And is the only one that was intended to have more than one season, and got cancelled. Which was annoying. So I feel like I can't appreciate it the way one should. There's lots good in there, but simply because it doesn't have any closure, I'd suggest skipping that one.
Isn't Fargo s5 also premiering on Sunday?
I also love The Creator. It's a shame it's not getting more love.
Minor nitpick dan. At 11:15 you say that this new show by John Carpenter was the first thing he directed in nearly 2 decades (I assume you're referring to the Ice Cube classic Ghosts of Mars) but he actually directed the 2011 Amber Heard vehicle The Ward. I went to see that film when it was released and it remains to this day the only film I ever saw in an empty theater with no one else. Have a great week.

oh yeah, I remember the DC Universe streaming site.
i started there. i watched maybe the pilot of Titans...didn't like it. But loved Harley Quinn and Doom Patrol. I forgot to take advantage of the comic part of that site. Ended up getting grandfathered into HBO Max which I thought was a way better deal with the extra stuff on there...kind of forgot to keep up with Doom Patrol. Way behind, forgot to keep up. not because I didn't like it. I think i got overwhelmed by how much i liked it. and needed a break, always planning to come back...but forgot. Guess i should watch it now to see how it all ends.

My thought when seeing the preview for the Goosebumps movie was... "Why is this a Goosebumps movie?" It looked like generic horror movie stuff, with none of the weirdness or goofiness that Goosebumps was known for.
Dear Dan!; could you consider creating a tribute to the late and amazing Kevin Conroy? He passed away last November, and was the sole reason I got into acting. I have a voice acting background and there are some preconceived notions that it's not as demanding as regular acting; but the vocal training itself and perfecting the craft may take more time than any acting school. l feel like he's a bit underrated as Batman (ditto Mark Hamill as Joker) and even non existent in the conversation. PS. You almost saw me as Leon in those new Resident Evil games :)
I paid tribute to him on one of my shows (I believe) when he passed away. I don’t generally do stand-alone memorial videos but his impact is massive and was particularly meaningful for me.

i kind of loosely have been following the show. But its been a while not sure if i have the same energy for it as i did when i first saw it back in 2014. i still like parts of it. the fandom gives it kind of a bad name.
i hope the new season with the replacement voice actors do a good job.
I do really like R&M. But the fanbase is atrocious. Ha. They are like Tool fans. Ha.

I still have to see Good Boy, so I'll probably see that. I'm a swiftie but none of my friends are,and i don't want to see the concert movie alone.

I am (was?) A big fan of Rob Zombie's music. I saw house of 1000 corpses. It is the film I hate more than any other. Rob doesn't seem to understand horror films, which is odd, because he is obsessed with them and made quite a few. The film is simply nasty. Really ugly, bitter, brutal film that just goes for the aesthetic of camp, but plot wise is just sadistic and voyeuristic.
Doom Patrol I am SO glad will finally finish, i absolutely loved the first series, thought the second was a mis-step, got back on track with the 3rd, and i hope, finishes on a high (I've not seen the half of series 4, I want to binge it all in one go)
Seeing Taylor twice! Once on Friday then again on 10/22, can’t wait to relive this amazing concert

As I have commented before, and continues to be the case as I check up on it, the number of showings I am seeing for the Eras Tour film are not substantial and those they have aren't all selling out. When you talk about the movie opening so big is that what the analysis shows or is that just the expectation without the data? I would be very interested to see you analyze the number of opening weekend showings of it versus other blockbusters when you look at its opening numbers on next weeks Charts. I think it is gonna be smaller than people expect. I am very excited still about seeing it of course. Can't wait to hear your thoughts Dan.
Are you in a major city? They drive box office grosses to a large degree on big movies. For example, in LA, nearly every screening in every theater is almost sold out on opening day. Dozens of showings. You can’t take a limited set of data and draw your conclusion from that. It’s entirely possible it opens to less that $100 million domestic, but signs are that it’s also a very real possibility.
I have the opportunity to see it four times based on limited screenings. I'm planning on seeing it four times. I also think you're underestimating just insane us swifties are in that we won't go and see it more than once.
I’ve seen multiple outlets reporting the presale tickets gross over $100M. It’s not a stretch to expect it to open big domestically.

Good on you seeing Taylor Swift on the big screen. I'm also going for similar reasons. I wrote Swift off waaaaaay back when she was still singing poppy country songs and knew she transitioned to mainstream pop sometime after that, but it was only relatively recently that I became aware of how big of a pop star she's become. I don't know if I know more than four of her songs, so to say the very least, I'm curious.
