- This game meant so much to me when I was little. It is honestly one of the best gaming memories I have as a kid. But I have a few different opinions returning to it as an "adult."
Spider-Man says ass.
I wished more people talked about how awesome the art Jae Lee made for this game is. From child to adult. All the art he did for each character is perfection
Hundo percent
Word. It was tight.
Except for the Thing, giving him ears was cursed
Oh absolutely, it’s gorgeous
They put cap in the psp version cause
He was to op for the console versions.
What I really like about this game is that it's a snapshot of what the Marvel universe was like during that time (early to mid 2000s). Spider-Man was killing it with his movies, Daredevil, Elektra and the Fantastic Four were making their cinematic debuts, and you had to throw in a few X-Men for good measure, especially considering how popular their movies were.
Anyways, I loved this game as a kid, we always used to throw Spidey vs. Venom matches with my brother. It showed me a darker side of the Marvel canon that I appreciate a lot today
And thrown in Iron Man, as teaser to what would change the superhero genre forever
The art style of this game really scream early to mid 2000s vibes, it has that gritty and visceral atmosphere that is unique only to that era, you won’t see a Marvel comic, game nor movie that feels like this in nowadays.
the imperfects need to return. you can put them in a marvel like injustice game as the main villains, maybe a new marvel ultimate alliance. these guys have alot of potential
That would be awesome!! I’d buy that game.
EA owns the Imperfects, and since they no longer have the license nor the people who care, it's gonna be a hard thing to accomplish.
Agreed friend
Netherealms studios is apparently making Avengers vs X-Men game ala injustice
@@trentparker3701 I thought it was a Marvel vs DC game or Injustice 3
Holy shit people actually remembered this? My favorite saying was Spider-Man when he won “You just got a web-slinging ass kicking” 11 year old me thought that was the coolest line to me
Holy is God's divine title to use it with excrement is blasphemous

Badger from Breaking Bad voices Spider-Man, so that's already a good sign 😂
WHHHHAAATTTTTTTTTT??! I had no clue! That’s amazing 😂
Spiderman was actually voiced by Alistair Abell. Badger was played by Matt Jones
Or were you just joking? It's hard to tell over text.

Web Slinging Ass Kickin!
I used to think the new characters were real Marvel characters growing up
I did too! I was so young when I played this game, so my knowledge on Marvel was very small. I would love to see them again!
Same here.😅
The edgy version of the character select screen was so cool to me that I still remember the feeling of how badass they seemed to me years later. Also I'm pretty sure I saw every finisher move multiple times as a kid cause I'm getting flashbacks when you show them
I remember my friend and I were freaking out whenever spiderman said " ass kicking " because we were afraid his mom would hear.
Sprayed you with a can of whoop-ass
This Game had so much potential, played the hell out of this back in the day
Same
Jae Lee is such a ridiculously underrated comic artist. his work on deadpool pulp, inhumans, and sentry are so incredible
This game was unfinished af but damn was it good fun and a good foundation .with insane potential! Wish it would love came out with sequels
This game is the shit back then! I enjoyed playing the hell out of this game. I haven't played this game in a long time. Ever since my friend introduced me to emulation like I think around three years ago, I finally get to play this game once again and I am so happy about it. I've uploaded a lot content about this game on my channel. If you have a chance or whenever, you should check it out and see it for yourself.
Of course! I’ll check that out on your channel 👍🏼
I took a shot every time you said "this game" and now I'm wasted thanks

What about Sam from Danny Phantom
Before Injustice. There was Nemesis...
Although storyline of both Injustice and Nemesis were different, The atmosphere of this (Nemesis) game gave me Injustice vibes.
I was obsessed with this game on the PSP when I was 12. Honestly made such a profound impact on my understanding of good/evil and the complexities of humane “superheroes”.
"So does anyone remember this game?" Yeah... I still have it.
Enjoyed this game like crazy. Johnny Ohm had the coolest backstory and design to me.
When I first played this game, I was traumatised by watching Cap, Punisher, and Hulk die
I was traumatized by the demo
My father gifted it to me because Spiderman was in the cover, alongside with marvel alliance, can never thank him enough.
What an awesome Uncle! I remember Ultimate Alliance being such an awesome game! I’ve got to give it another try soon.
Played this game ONCE as a kid at my cousin's house for like 2 hours. I haven't forgotten how cool it was to me at the time
Calling it now, your channel is gonna blow up man, you literally brought up a repressed memory and it was a good one! Earned a sub from me
Thank you so much!
This game was awesome. The ending always stuck with me
i loved to use elektra
The nostalgia of this game for me is crazy I played it on the psp and I just remember being obsessed trying to get the dark versions of each vharacter
I cannot tell how much I absolutely loved this game in my childhood. Specially the concept arts from each character. Looked so cool and dark. And the music omg
Me and my brother played this for hours just playing against each other messing around with every character. Oh the memories
Brigade, Solara, and Hazmat were, and still are my favorites of the Imperfects. I really like their backstories.
Not a lot of people talk about it but the art and designs for the characters was something I have yet to see replicated in a marvel game since. The shading and the alternate posing when selecting a character was awesome as hell i’m honestly a huge fan of magnetos look in this game just so clean and the same goes for wolverine and the thing, like thing rocking jeans is such a cool look as simple as it is. as much as i like hugh jackman it’s refreshing seeing a wolverine that doesn’t copy and paste his look honestly reminds me of the ultimate marvel comics wolverine.
I miss playing this with my dad and little brother on the GameCube, the 2000s were good times
My dad had this game on GameCube when I was a kid and I used to love it. What a unique experience
The nostalgia I have for this is unmatched sheesh some of the music just unlocked hidden memories
Dude this game made me mad enough to slap the controller from a friend's hand. It's that intense. When you
were in it you were in it. Great game.
Back then hearing Spidey Curse was insane but nowadays it’s nothing
The art by artist Jae Lee made this game memorable for me.
I fkn love this game and the villains they created for this. Fault Zone was a favorite of mine, as well as Storm
I'm happy Ii'm not the only one who was creeped out by this great game as a kid. Only thing that marvel has done to creep me out since was Marvel Zombies.
Used to play this game all the time. Corrupted Magneto was terrifying on the character select for kid me.
For me, the human torch face after you selected him as a character freaked me out 😂
I loved this game back then, me and my best friend loved to play this one to bits. Even the very forgotten and underrated X-Men Legend games on the Gamecub which we put so many hours in and we enjoyed every single second. He always picked Wolverine and I went with Magneto. Marvel Nemesis was unique and we are missing games with this kind of concept... gotta say that I also REALLY enjoyed Marvel: Midnight Suns alot. Those games always kinda under the radar because they are different.
Marvel Nemesis had cool designs, great art, gameplay was solid and the characters you could pick were also neat. Can't believe that this game is gonna be 20 years old in 2 years or so. 20 years... man... I will turn 32 this year too, crazy.
X-men legends 1 and 2 aren’t talked about enough imo. But I loved this game as well and happy to hear someone enjoying it on gc when p2 dominated that era
Dude I’m so glad you made this video I always tell people about this game they don’t know
This game was my shit! Elektra, Wink and Solara were my mains
This was a nice nostalgia trip, I always loved the intro or the Imperfects little bios
I loved this game as a kid and glad seeing people are recognizing it. The finishing moves were my favorite
I loved playin this game wit my brothers as a kid
Me and my brother played this very briefly together! But he was a huge Captain America fan, so when he saw that Captain America died at the beginning, he was already uninterested 😂
You just hit me with a whole lot if nostalgia with this one! Used to love this better than Ultimate Alliance as a kid
This video made me happy. Rise of the Imperfects was one of the first ps2 games I'd ever played. I was surprised when I discovered that when winning certain amount of 1v1 fights (against the CPU) you would unlock new characters and maps. Also Venom was my favorite, I was unbeatable. Good old days :)
I really loved that game as a child, and it's mehcanics, sounds and visual style really got stuck in my brain for years. For some reason i think i never played the story mode, or at least don't remember. Probably i just didn't pay attention to it, but i clearly remember playing the fight mode.
Playing this on my Uncle's PS2, among other games, was one of the few good memories I've had with him. Good enough to make this an instant purchase when I discovered that it came on Gameboy and GameCube as well. And while I never learned how to do the finishers, I can quote all of Venom's lines to this day.
You just unlocked a new childhood memory baby Marvel Nemesis was amazing I used to play this all the time with my brothers when I was like 6 or 7
I remember my first time playing this game, it was on a Xbox demo disc. You were only able to play as Spider-Man and Johnny Ohm. Of course I picked Spider-Man, but talk about my little teenage mind was blown when I heard Spider-Man say, “That’s what I call a Spider-Man web *ASS* kicking” 🤯🤯
I loved this game so much as a kid, looking back I feel like it’s literally just a Power Stone game with a marvel coat of paint
I love this game. Way too many fond memories playing with my bro and cousins on weekends. I loved the dark and gritty tone, the character art (like in the select menu), and even the Imperfects origin trailers. Mechanics and graphics are pretty whack but dang do I wish they make a reboot or remake of this game someday. So much potential, and at least it'd be pretty unique compared to another MvC game.
After all this time I just found out that Dr. Doom and Captain America were playable characters in the PSP version lol, this is childhood nostalgia right here!
This game was pure horror when I was a kid. Especially the dark side of the heroes
I absolutely loved this game as a kid too! I loved it so much I bought it 3 times (For the GameCube, PS2, & PSP). Hearing the theme brought back all the memories of me running the gauntlet as Spiderman seeing if I could beat the whole roster. I even got my cousin into it and we would spend countless hours in vs mode. I really wish this game would get a remaster or remake but just like you, I don't think it aged well graphically and mechanically. And yea the main reason I got it was because of Spiderman on the cover too
I bought it twice. For GameCube and PSP and i also emulated the NDS version.😀
You said you wanted comments, but you put it in the best way possible when you said "waking up on a Saturday morning and playing this till the sun came down in your grandma's house." It was my definitive favorite game growing up. The Graphics of course aren't what we're used to nowadays, but it got the job done. I know the camera could be annoying at the worst times, but when that camera did that "cinematic" right when you hit someone "out of the ring" it's just 👌
This game came at a time where Marvel was free from the Disney shit. New and unique things could exist and didn't to have tie into the movies. I love this darker aesthetic and I miss mid to late 2000s Marvel!
I loved how dark this was! Hopefully this isn’t the last dark-tone marvel game to come out.
@@kcdeku7154 Maybe with the Wolverine game...maybe
I miss playing this game. Its too bad my ps2 didn't work anymore so i had to give all my games away to gamestop
Premium content from a small channel I love it. Keep it up with these game essay style videos this was great to learn about a game I have actually never heard of!
Thank you!!
@@kcdeku7154 you are welcome man
i freaking love this game it’s so awesome i played it all the time when i was younger
Great watch as usual 🙏🏻 Keep em coming!
I have played this game so much back when I was a kid. The nostalgia hits hard
This game was my childhood. I used to love playing it with my cousin!! I totally forgot it exists but i want to play it again omg
I remember daredevils intro chatter "i am judge, jury, and executioner" like thats gold
Man, you just unlocked some memories for me.
I loved playing this game with my brother when I was younger
I still have this game and it's a cross between a fighting game and a beat em up. Much love for this one.
I missed out on this gem, but I’m really impressed with how everything holds up till this day. They could easily put new graphics on and everything else wouldn’t seem so dated. The physics and stuff from the environment to the characters clothes are good too for the time
Sweet video bro I love this game . I have so many great memories of just playing it on the weekends as a kid.
Man I LOVED this game when it came out. Beat the game with everyone, got all the unlocks and had all the hope that they would make another one. Glad I was at the only one
I'm always so happy to see others appreciate this forgotten gem of a game too! This was a big part of my childhood for sure. Was never able to fully beat the story mode, and got held up at the Paragon levels but man it was so much fun to unleash in multiplayer
That’s for helping me bring up a childhood memory
That Jae Lee art work is awesome me and my brother loved this game
its about time someone brought up this game, felt like i was the only one who remembered this gem, out of all the games theyre remaking rn this is the one they need to actually remaster
My best friend and I loved this game. We played Co op vs. mode for hours on end. The single play campaign was OK, but fighting each other is where the game really shined for us.
i’m just happy seeing videos on this gem, i have so many memories with this!
If you were an Wolverine fan back then, the psp was the place to go man.x men legends, marvel ultimate alliance 1 and 2,x men origins wolverine, marvel nemesis. Cant wait to see him in the ps5 game !
So hyped for the new Wolverine game!! Cannot wait to see it in action.
I got this game JUST before moving away to college.
Played the hell out of it.
Liked it an awful lot.
REALLY wish they'd have started an Imperfects comic book. Loved all those characters and think the could've been done great stories to be told with them.
Spider-Man & Venom had the best corrupted skins in the game & imo some of their best suits ever made
Great video! Can't wait for the next one!!
Loved this game. It absolutely dripped with that good ol 2000's edge that just can't be replicated today.
Always remembered being disturbed by the descriptions of the alien soldiers and how they were made from human corpses they've been stealing from hospitals and battlefields for decades
This was my first introduction to how marvel characters being dark. It even had heroes do fatalities like Iron Man disintergrating your opponent with his unibeam and Wolverine repeatedly stabbing with his claws.
Storm in this game gave me LIFE, I loved Rise Of The Imperfects when I was little, the music makes me so nostalgic
This game was my childhood and I still play it today. I know it wasn't received very well but I always loved it, the artwork, the music, the darker, gritty story and the overall sense of impending doom throughout the game made for such a fantastic experience. Wish this game would have received the positive attention it deserved. You gained a subscriber for covering this (in my opinion) masterpiece of a game.
I've always loved fighting games, and comics books. This was so amazing to me when it came out. I never thought hearing the theme music to this game would be so nostalgic.
I still have fun on this game. I’m a fighting gamer, my little brother is more into Fortnite, COD etc. So this is really the only fighting game he can compete with me on.
The contrast between how bright the PSP version is and how dark the PS2 version is, is crazy. Even the costumes were different.
I played the PSP version first. Got the PSP for Christmas in 2005. I was amazed at how much content the PS2 had since it had a story mode and character intros.
I kind of wish the PS2 version was brighter, because the stages were better on the PSP. I also appreciated how the camera angle carried over from the PSP to the PS2 during most of the story mode.
PSP wins in design, but the PS2 wins in content. The imperfects just weren’t interesting enough for me.
I remember seeing the intro scene with all the characters dying off and it got me so interested. I never got to play it.
Oh my gosh I remember this! I used to watch my dad and brother play this all the time 😊
I used to play this game with my son every day. Fun memories.
Dude this game was so damn cool, I was beginning to think it was forgotten pretty much because I never see anyone talking about it! Thanks for bringing back some memories m8
Man I loved this game back in the day! 😵 Always hoped they would make a sequel with beter graphics.
Thanks for making this video 🙏🏾
Thank you for watching!
This game is fun until you have a time trial and you realize the animated finishing moves doesn't pause the timer.
genuinely my favorite game from my childhood, was searching for it for so long because i forgot the name but man i loved this game
Bro I remember me and my friend as kids doing Storm vs. Johnny Ohm for HOURS.
I use to play this game so much back in the day. I’d always imagine different fights and would pretend it’s in a movie 😂
If this could just be polished fixed up and redone, it could be fantastic. I still think the fighting is phenomenal. The air combat how each character has their own fluidity is so incredible unique. They could branch this off and do all X-Men or do X-Men and avengers and it be avengers versus X-Men. Honestly, the only I liked was Johnny Ohm. Paragon was fun, but she was way OP. I’m a sucker for anybody that has electricity for an ability. In this game would’ve been so much fun. And it is clear that they were picking characters who had movies during this era and why didn’t blade I don’t know.
banger
The art style reminds me of Marvel Zombies and I love it
My brother and I used to play the hell out of this game. Thank you for the video
great vid!! my friends and i used to play this in the basement all day. such a fun game!!!
I’m not surprised to hear that it marvel nemesis didn’t do well due to EA being EA, but I would love to see this style of game come back again but more polished with a different publisher. The grittiness and darker theme of marvel nemesis just made it so different from anything you’d seen at the time and since I believe marvel zombies might be debuting for the MCU, this darker but unique game would make sense to bring back.
(Edit: the vanquishes of each character even speak to how much more serious this game was. No flashy upbeat happy like super moves, but straight up decimate your opponent almost cold heartedly. Just seeing someone as a jokester like spider man do his vanquish shows how much serious this game was, and let’s not forget wolverine literally shredding you to pieces)
God. The way you described that feeling of enjoying a game a lot as a kid and hating it as an adult is the same feeling I got play TMNT Smash Up this year after playing it for the first time a decade and a half ago.
The UA-cam algorithm has apparently blessed you LOL. Because I don't know how you came up between two resident evil videos I was listening to that are also from two different channels but I see the potential and you have earned my sub.
Dude I was unstoppable with Elektra - I knew all the moves like the back of my hand. Miss this game.
