- If you aren't level-tab-savvy, watch this video first, as this discussion is an answer to a question in the comments from that one: • Unreal Engine: Underst...
What do I mean my "level swapping"? A viewer asked in the comments "How do I move objects between levels?", so I made a video to demo the process. But maybe you thought it was going to be about swapping levels in the sequencer - so I answered how to do that too... 2 for 1 video!
OMG, you have just solved a HUGE conceptual problem that I'd been having regarding foliage.
Thanks! And nice work on the video. Exactly what I needed.
Great to hear!
@@3dJC hey man ...love how you explaining things ...can you make one tutorial with a LevelStreamingVolume (taking an example with a bigger map and how to split it intoo 2-3 pieces and load up using the LevelStreamingvolume as player advancing true the map) ? ty
great video thank you so much!! This is exactly what i needed, to trigger a level in sequencer
Top tier knowledge , thank you so much for explaning this. Btw i love that stopmotion video , you and your son got another sub
That’s great to hear, thanks!! He will be stoked!
@3dJC do you know if there is a way to move actors to a new level @ runtime? For say I'm driving a car (which is not my player pawn actor) I want to move the car along with me as I load the new level and not have it still linked to the level it spawned in.
Looks like Cinema 4D layers system! Very nice and clean to use! Thank you!
This is what I needed. Thank you so much! 🎉🎉🎉
Great!!
Thank you mate, very helpful!
Very Helpful! Thanks a lot!
great!
Thanks for your tutorial!!
You’re quite welcome!
thank you 🙏 exactly what I needed you're a life saver
Glad it helped!
Thank you.
Oh, this is what I want to know too!! Awesome!! 😁
Perfect!!

amazing thanks a lot
you saved me! ❤❤❤❤
Very awesome ty
Very welcome
Thanks! I'm wondering how to get the little contextual menu on the bottom right of the viewport to show up? Mine did automatically, then it went away for some reason and I can't find the option to turn it back on.
Thank you for this.
I there a way to make levels appear/disappear by a trigger?
Let's say the chairs disappear when your character walks up to its close proximity
Hi! Great video! But, can i get soft swapping?
Hi from Brazil
I cant find the levles column in the outliner window...I have a different list of columns?
Hi is there any way to convert world partition
can you do this with lights. post processing?
Thank u!
Can i hide objects in Outliner from one of levels? i have a lot of objects in the scene
yeah the outliner ends up containing everything from all of the levels, so you can still hide whatever you want. You may also want to add a "level" column in the outliner to be able to sort by level, in case that makes it easier to find stuff for you.
why when i hit play all that not parented on the persistent level disappear?
ah I've just watched the other... thanks thanks
Nice one, how do I do it for particular object turning eye icon on off without creating a separate level?
Ah objects have a visibility attribute you can key on and off…
Hi, thanks for this amazing video. I had a question. If i record an animation from actors in world 1 and hide actors from world 2 would that work perfectly without the world 2 actors or assets showing in the final render? I'm using it for a film btw.
Yes, if you use level visibility, you can turn off assets from a level in sequencer and they won’t render.
Perfect thanks!@@3dJC
hey man thanks for the video. i have a problem i can't find a solution for currently: i arranged a few objects in a demo scene with a camera position that i would like to render out as sequences. i want to swap out the environment for each render, so i would like to migrate the arranged objects with their positions and the camera with it's settings from the demo project into other projects, so i can just drag and drop them in different environments but keep the same arrangement and camera settings. how would i do that? basically migrating a collection of objects between different projects. hope you can help
Good question - I made a quick test by migrating a level sequence, and if the camera, lights, and geo were spawned in the original level sequence, they made it over to the other project... that's just a quick test, your scenario may vary a bit. Could you also keep the original project and split the envs into different levels and collect them in the levels tab, keeping everything on one project? May be a bit easier than managing multiple projects... but again you'll know better :)
@@3dJC thanks for your answer! that would be a different approach. i selected all objects now and made a blueprint from it and migrated it into the new project. it worked so far, but when i press play the static objects are not visible and only the animated alembic objects are visible and i get this error: "AttachTo: 'asset_name_C_UAID_2CF05DA45B0331E001_1690252500.StaticMeshActor_19' is not static (in blueprint "asset_name"), cannot attach 'level_namePersistentLevel.StaticMeshActor_19_GEN_VARIABLE_StaticMeshActor_CAT_UAID_2CF05DA45B0331E001_1690268501.StaticMeshComponent0' which is static to it. Aborting." I tried to research but i could not find a solution yet. :/
does doing this increase FPS in persistent level?
great question! guessing it may if you are able to defer the loading of the other levels to an as needed basis vs always loading with persistent layer, but that's just a guess...
Hi Sr.
I've been watching your Tut. For 3 months and I appreciate much.
Can you make a Tut for crying 😭 effects please.?
I'm Workin I'm a sad story and I can't animate a crying in my character.
Thanks 🙏
Sadly, I don’t know how (ha!), but I’ll see if I can learn them make a tutorial on that!
@@3dJC i appreciate. There is not any tutorial regarding to this. Please 🙏.
I'll be waiting for it
In run time, should you do it in runtime, not in the editor man. It is not level swapping by the way, it is putting actors into the level.
Howdy! Most of my audience are "filmmakers" vs game dev folks, so we don't do runtime, it's all in editor in the level sequence for rendering frames. Also, "level swapping" CAN mean "my chair is swapping levels" depending on how you read it, which is what this video was made to answer a previous video's commenter's question. Good notes tho, glad to see you jump in and engage - Thanks!!
Can i get soft swapping? (like by curves)
