Heian Shodan - Important Points

Heian Shodan is the first of the five Heian kata. This video goes through the three differences it has from Kihon (Taikyoku Shodan).
Heian means Peaceful Mind. Master Gichin wrote, ‘he who masters these first five kata, is able to defend himself in most situations’.
Shodan denotes the first of the Heian kata.
One should learn kata so well, that they do not have to think about performing it - it just happens. To have a mind that is peaceful during kata.
To perform a kata well, a person should become the kata.
