Great! People forget that Nat "King" Cole was one of the greatest jazz pianists. He started singing on a few of his records and the folks at Capitol came up to him and said, "Nat, they sell a lot better when you sing on them." So he started singing more and eventually his voice, not his piano, became the focus of his career
I always thought that Nat's early and signature piano style was very Roaring 20s ish! I think that that's what gives Nat's piano playing style its pizzazz, glare and exitement!
It's actually a Gibson L-5E. The tail piece is the main dead give away, as well as the inlays on the fret board. This version of it (1944 or 45?) with the Charlie Christian pick-up, is more similar to a Gibson ES-250, than an ES-300.

I utterly agree, pappy. And sadly, Oscar Moore is surely the most forgotten & under-rated guitarist of all time.
So sadly true!!! And even I forget what an impressive pianist Nat was! Can't get enough of the Trio era recordings!

He was a master on the piano! He might've been the greatest! Oscar Peterson took from this guy.

***** You can say that again!
Too good!!! (y) Haha
It looks like one of the Gibson arch tops of the era. It has a Gibson pickup in it. Let me see if I can figure it out.
It may be a Gibson ES-300N, but I'm not entirely sure.
@jamo387 I was thinking the same thing
What happened America ?
@jamo387 Yeah think about Ray Charles... :p
Did Nat later have a different guitarist in the trio? A gentleman who wore glasses? Do you happen to know his name?
what kind of guitar is this?
NKC is a LEGEND!
The timbre of his voice is ineffable.
STILL UNBEATABLE,75 YRS LATER........NEVER GET TIRED OF NAT
