@@kentherapy7022 Here is an update. I was naturally suspicious of all these youtube videos which have DIFFERENT takes into the pre-amps and claiming that it's the pre-amp that's the cause of difference in sound. So I did my own ACTUALLY scientific test, using an XLR splitter so that the two pre-amps get the exact same signal from the mic, and lo and behold, no discernible difference at all: drive.google.com/open?id=1y3KVXrZyz6Gfz6319r2mVyPB5kkF7ZJj (I included #02 just to show that I didn't mix up the inputs. In one of them, I turned the Scarlett knob to show that the volume was changing only for that channel).
The 2i2 is closer in feature set to the UMC202HD, which is half the price, yet the latter has one extra function: padding. The 2i2's colour is gorgeous, but that isn't worth the price of a second UMC202HD. As for a closer match in price, the UMC404HD is still cheaper than the 2i2 while it has 4 inputs, 4 outputs, inserts, A/B monitoring and balance, and MIDI in/out. So unless you are a hipster, go Behringer.
Each color has a different wavelength of visible light. I'm too busy to look this up on wikipedia but surely It stands to reason that sound waves must work the exact same way. I'm pretty sure he compromised this test as the sound waves bounced off the different colors of his shirt. Can't trust this review.
am really confused i have a digital piano with only MIDI connection so i connect it to my computer then to FL-Studio so im looking to buy audio interface idk which one the 2i2 or 204HD pls any method? thx
ive got the scarlett but in my oppinion the main let down is the lack of midi. ive just ordered the behringer one just for that and tbh i cant realy see much different although as someone said on one of these threads it does sound a tad brighter compared to scarlett but if thats all the issue is no biggy right
@@Timbertouchbespoke I am trying to understand how is this a problem, can't we just connect the midi keyboard to the laptop via usb and connect the monitor speakers/headphones to the audio interface? Is there a difference when the midi is connected to the laptop and not to the audio interface thru the midi port?
I own both of these units. The Scarlett is slightly warmer and more organic sounding, but the difference is pretty minimal. I use the Focusrite for vocals, and the Behringer for tracking my drum machine. Both are great.
excellent and professional comparison, the best I found on youtube, I think only 2 things are missing; latency test and background noise... Thanks for the video.
The Behringer at the vocal switch from the Focusrite measured 2 or 3 db louder. Although this is corrected as it goes along the initial impression is the Behringer sounds warmer. Later on the music the Focusrite sounds warmer to me. The background noise mentioned at 1:12 on the Focusrite is also briefly heard at 1:14 on the Behringer.
I could hear no major difference on the guitar pieces -but Im not a trained ear to that sound. I am a trained ear to voice, and I could hear a more enjoyable sound on the Behringer than the Focusrite. Both pic up great mids, the focus right tends towards the highs and the behringer tends towards the lows, very slightly. For the price of the Behringer, I would tend towards it instead of the Focusrite.
I took my Sony 7506 headphones and listened critically to this video. What I can say is that the Scarlet is slightly clearer. The Behringer has more toward bass in the sound, and is a just tad more muddy. When I say a tad more muddy, I really mean just a tiny, almost unoticable, bit. The Behringer also seems to have just a tiny bit more gain. If you're looking for a flat response, the Scarlet probably wins. However, I like a bit of warmth added, so the Behringer is actually more pleasing to my ear. I know that the Behringer's number (from reading reviews for Intermodulation Distortion) are not as good as the Scarlet, but the kind of distortion that it adds, leaning to a bassier sound, is pleasing. If you're trying to cut above a loud number of instruments, with a vocal, perhaps the scarlet would be a good choice. It might be a good choice with a boomy acoustic guitar, too. It's treble response could really do some cutting through a mix. If you've got a problem with boominess in your recordings (voice competing with guitar type of stuff), the Scarlet would thin out the vocals and perhaps reduce the boominess. However, if you have a really nice voice that you want to feature, and find a bit of thickness and warmth to be a plus, the Behringer might be a good choice. If you're a podcaster or broadcaster, I would definitely pick the Behringer for that nice warm vocal sound. Initially I used speakers to do this review, but had to rewrite it after using my pro level Sony headphones. These headphones are used by the pros for a reason. They really reveal things. There is my two cents.
Honestly, I could hear that through my TV speaker. In fact, initially I liked the Behringer better after his vocal test, but when he got to guitar and it switched to the Behringer it was so noticeably bass-driven and like stripped some of the mids or something, that ugly scooped sound. Sounds like you're right on, probably really good for vocals and maybe acoustic guitar if it's too bright, but I'm thinking for modern metal electric guitar, I'm not sure I can afford to let that bassy gutted mid sound be the originator of the analog to digital interpretation.
I can hear at 1:12 the *background noise* of scarlet but at 1:53 there is no b. noise for behringer. Scarlet 2i2 costs about 100$, Behringer Uphoria-204HD is about 90$ and Behringer Uphoria-404HD costs 110$...
This just sounds like background noise in the room which the microphone picks up. Some of which he didn't edit out. Once the instrument starts, you don't hear it obviously.
Thanks for this simple and effective comparison. To me it sounds like Behringer all the way! The price is also killer for the ability to do both vocals and use my midi keyboard.
The greatest advantage of behringher is the low latency support in WDM driver. I sold a focusrite 2i4 1st gen because was high latency or glitches with every driver. I bougth a behringer UMC404 HD and i forget latency issues. Price is another point to Behringer. I highly recomend behringer UMC interfaces.
I'm new to the scene, here are my opinions: 204HD has a lower noise floor with a dynamic range of 110db 2i2 is set at 106db 204HD has midi...I like my midi. 2i2 is such a widespread name and rep. 204HD is built by a brand whom has been around for long long time. 204HD has better lows, yes they may be muddy, but they give that "Broadcaster sound" 2i2 is crispier, but, in my experience, it is harder to bring out the lows. whereas with the 204HD, you can make those highs sparkle much easier and subtract mud in the lows. 204HD has better outputs 2i2 is limited on these outputs, at least in the 1 line input version. 204HD gives you more for 79USD (AMAZON) 2i2 Gives you less for 99.99USD, or 149.99USD for the 2 line input version, which still gives you less. (AMAZON) 2i2 comes with Protools | First, but this is offered for free from AVID, soooo thats lame. (SAME WITH Ableton LIVE LITE.) which is possibly why people buy it soo much, they think its a better deal, and they dont use MIDI. 204HD drivers are irrelevant for MacOS users. 2i2 is a top selling brand, but thats not always better, just more popular. 2i2 99.99USD model has 1/4" outputs, 99.99USD has RCA I can only assume he was using 2i2 and not the solo. At the end of the day, it comes down to whether you want the broadcaster lows and extra inputs, or the crispy sound with less inputs- do you want MIDI? As well as, do you want to spend 150USD or are you on a tight budget, for, if you're buying either of these for under 300USD, you're not getting anything in the "ProLevel". You gotta spend money to get the best of the best. These are sub 200USD and they perform that way.And if youre like me and need the MIDI, but want the 2i2, youre gonna have to spend 199.99USD for the scarlett 2i4, which STILL has a higher noise floor at 108db. PS. i think he switched shirts to make it easier for knowing which one was used. I think I'm going with 204HD.
204HD has better lows, yes they may be muddy, but they give that "Broadcaster sound" 2i2 is crispier, but, in my experience, it is harder to bring out the lows. whereas with the ----the opposite??
I can clearly hear more definition on the strat pick ups with the UMC204HD. If you listen closely and compare the same parts of the riff. It seems like scarlett sounds warmer due to the lack of the details present in the behringer unit. Just my ears and humble opinion. =)
you are correct and incorrect. You hear more distortion in the highs on the Behringer with the strat. This gives the illusion of more clarity. But it's not clarity. It's mild distortion, giving the illusion of clearness. What it is missing, is punchy and dry mids and lows. Which makes the Scarlett more organic and "warm" sounding, while the Behringer is minimally more "flat" and trebly sounding.
That can't be correct from the definition of distortion itself. Distortion is the effect of harmonics on a frequency. The first harmonic of a a "high" note like (say) 7Khz is 14KHz is beyond what an adult can hear. By very definition the perception of any distortion diminishes with increasing frequency, as there are fewer harmonics that are in in the audible range. Don't take my word for it though (hey, my wife probably wouldn't either), just look up the definition of total harmonic distortion.
It could perhaps if you don't record more that 1-2 tracks. Not if you record more and are counting on clear audio in the mix. But the Behringer definitely wins for its money.
There is still no evidence that there even is a "tiny difference" in audio which isn't attributable to differences between takes such as mic distance and technique. There is not a single UA-cam video I could find which compares pre-amps using the SAME takes rather than different takes. Edit: After being frustrated no one was doing the obvious actually scientific test, I did my own, using an XLR splitter so that the two pre-amps get the exact same signal from the mic, and lo and behold, no discernible difference at all: drive.google.com/open?id=1y3KVXrZyz6Gfz6319r2mVyPB5kkF7ZJj (I included #02 just to show that I didn't mix up the inputs. I've had the Behringer 204 for over 2 years and it's okay. I had a Focusrite Saffire 6 before that for a couple years and it broke. I think that the Behringer here seems crisper and brighter but I didn't notice that difference in my own recordings.
Beringer sounds like it handles the mid-range better, but both are comparable. I would go with the UMC just because of the midi interface, and the community has made some pretty great custom drivers.
I use to own a SCARLETT 2i4 2nd Generation and man did I hate the latency issues I kept dealing with. So I looked into behringer UMC202HD and it had a lot of great reviews and I love that it has the Direct monitor built-in, so if I do run into latency issues I'm covered. But I haven't seen it in action till just now... And oh 😮 man... did I love the sound the Behringer produced.. Yes 😍👍 It was so clean and it added clarity to the harmonics as well. It almost made Scarlett sound like it was muddy lol I'm definitely happy that I bought this! Many thanks for this amazing review 🙏
We may all have our personal taste when it comes to audio. Here's my humble opinion on this. Behringer captures audio a little brighter base on this video. At first glance, I thought Behringer captures audio better, but going back again to the audio by 2i2, I realized that 2i2 sounds warmer and fuller and has a better mid and low frequency response, the more I kept playing both audio captures, I felt that the audio captured by Behringer is thinner compared to Focusrite 2i2. You don't have to agree on it, we all hear things slightly different.
This is the most sensible thing I've read in hours. I have read at least 500 reviews from people who say "This one is better. It sounds great." Telling someone that you like something isn't helpful at all. You described an actual reason why the 2i2 would be better for some people. Thank you for actually giving us real information instead of just saying "It's better." I prefer mid range to piercing treble any day of the week. I cannot stand modern audio equipment because the mid range has all but been forgotten. The tube amps try to go back to the mid range sound, although the new digital electronics are still trying too hard to produce crisp treble, and sharp piercing treble has no real world value. If you play headphones or speakers really loud for more than 5 minutes, thin, sharp sounding recordings or speakers are very hard on the ear drums! I'm sure the difference is very subtle. But it's enough of a reason to stick with a 2i2.
what about vocals ? I have the behiringer, I forgot which one because I left it in Europe. I was going to sell it when I get there but if you tell me scarlett is better than I will sell the behringer but I thought the german stuff was better ?
Why would you sell something, because someone says something is better. If you already have it and use it, and are happy...make music. The behringer has more distortion, this giving the illusion of more highs and a less "organic" mids and lows. A "flatter" feeling response many people would say. You will find this to be the case with any audio product, that is seemingly the exact copy of something more expensive for half the price. Power Amps, Mixers, Soundcards etc.
I bought the behringer but didn't get a chance to use it. I left it in Europe and my mom doesn't know what it looks like to give it to my dad to bring it back to me so I hope my friends go to the house and show her so that way he can tell her what it is. I know nothing of this stuff but I'll ask a musician who has experience.
An unit with slightly more distortion will sound fuller and punchier at the lower end due to the additional harmonics. I can't say for sure that is what is happening here for your perception of the Focusrite 2i2. I could well be wrong. I thought both units worked admirably, and I'd be hard pushed to recommend one over another.
I'm looking to replace my PC's built in sound card.I do no recording that means i think i have to go for Behringer. As i can hear there is slight difference in sound, but that doesn't bother me.Why pay more?
the slight difference in sound is negligible.. and for half the street price you simply get around the same.. but beringer just has some additional features + midi.. if you just look for some bare minimum you could even go with the 202HD ( no midi and 2 less outs) or the 22( less audio qualiy though)
I have the Behringer UMC 404HD and it offers so much more, 4 inputs, A/B monitoring, MIDI in/out, more outputs, inserts while still being cheaper than the 2i2. I hear only minimal difference in the sound of the two.
Dear Sir I have old laptop lenovo 32 bit Dual core processor Window 7 Behringer 204 hd will give me professional quality ? I want for voice over and Dubbing
Wow okay .. I am sitting here on a Fireface UCX with good monitors in a good treated room, looking for a cheaper soundcard to my friend who is starting out. So I see some people here saying the Behringer is clearer and more defined. I don't really agree, I think they are both great, much greater than what you could get for under 200$ tens years ago when I started out. They both have good clarity, and low noise level. The preamps are night and day different for me though. This has nothing to do with GOOD or BAD, I mean the color/characted of the preamp. - The scarlett sounds smoother and has slightly rounded of highs, this makes the audio sound like silk in my ears. - The behringer sounds more modern and has stronger highs, which makes the audio sound "more defined". I would prefer a darker microphone with the behringer and a brighter microphone with the scarlett. They're both amazing for this price range though, especially the behringer!
They both sound good for what they are. The electric guitar in particular sounds nice and full through the Focusrite but, and it might just be my ears here, I give the the Behringer the edge for being cleaner sounding overall. Thanks for the direct comparison, very useful.
Woah! The Behringer sounds WAYYY better to my ears. Didn't expect such a big difference at that price point. And the Behringer is even the cheapest one.
Came for the comparison, stayed for the sweet strumming. But seriously, the Behringer sounds a touch more detailed where the Focusrite felt a belt fuller and warmer. Very marginal though. My feeling? Acoustics = Behringer. Vocals = Focusrite
It seems like the behringer actually does better in translating high/treble frequencies (pay attention to the electric guitar samples, the higher frequencies with the behringer are more crisp and clear, while the focusrite seems to have less treble and more mids/lower mids). This is specially positive when using amp sims. The less treble an interface translates, the muddier the guitar tone will be when applying an amp sim and cab IR.
I thought the Focusrite sounded cleaner on vocal and the acoustic segment. The Behringer sounded clearer during the electric segment. For bang for the buck the Behringer wins with MIDI. Thanks for the test!
@@maxmaxed2887 You're probably right. I own one, but don't really use it, only for playback from my laptop. I'm extremely happy with my MOTU M4 that is my primary interface.. Has and does everything I want.
Thanks for the comparison. I don't think there is a major difference between them that couldn't be sorted with eq. Behringer has MIDI and costs less. End of argument.
Behringer sounds like it has more body to the sound, the Focusrite sounds a little thin, but you're going to be doing EQ in software anyway, so you might as well get the cheaper option.
I have a 404 and 2i4 gen 1 - and decided to compare them today. I didn't think there was too big of a difference between xlr input when using a mic- but I noticed quite a big difference when plugging a guitar directly in via line- I found that the focusrite sounded way cleaner and balanced. Has anyone else found this result as well? Any clue how this is even possible?
Yes I have with the 202. I think it's because the impedance of Hi-Z isn't as high as it should be. I use an separate DI box through the XLR and it sounds a lot better, but I think any interface would sound best with a good external DI.

The Behringer sounds like it boosts the mid bass more than the Scarlet (I also think that the Scarlet has a little boost on the high frequencies.) This gives the Behringer a bit more of a thicker sound. The Scarlet sounds a bit cleaner and clearer. As to whether or not it's worth paying twice as much for the Scarlet, well that depends on what you're chasing. If pristine sound is what you're after, pay the extra money and get the Scarlet. Being a champion economizer, I'd go for the Behringer. It gives you more features (including a Midi in and out.) The slight bit of dullness of the Behringer can probably be overcome, to some extent, with EQ (take out some on the mid lows. That will effectively make the highs stand out a bit more. But, doing this will take out, what some people consider to be, warmth. You can also boost the high frequencies just tad. That'll make for a clearer sound, but minus the warmth.) Remember though, the quality of your playing/singing is going to me much more of a factor than the difference between the sound of these two interfaces. If you've got a groovy song, listeners aren't going to know if you used the Scarlet or the Behringer. They'll be diggin' the song.
204hd....plus, it has inserts so you can connect external gear like compressors, eq's and even an external pre-amp while bypassing the pre-amps in the 204hd and only use it as a converter!
thx for the video. Unfortunately you are standing closer to the mic when you use the Behringer, that will make the sound more full and its difficult to compare fair ;-)
The Acoustic Guitar Focusrite sounded much clearer in the mids - which is what you want on the guitar - the most natural-sounding reproduction - crystal clear. Behringer was a bid muddy and distorted in the mids on the acoustic. For the electric guitar, the Berhringer sounded a bit warmer, but still had some distortion which may be the desired effect for some, but the Focus, though not as warm (loud/close) was clearer.
I wonder how many people in youtube DON'T realise that is way more helpfull if you make an A/B comparisson while playing. When you end the song and leave a gap between that take and the next one, your ears already change the way they percieve sound (for putting it the most easiest way possible for me to explain) so it is not so easy to decide weather you liked more the first take or the second one. I mean, this is a great comparison video, but thats a little detail that can make it twice as helpful as it already is. Same with instrument comparison, mixing and mastering plugins on/off comparison, etc.
the scarlett sounds a little more bright in the highs which is kinda harsh on my audio technica headphones i like how the behriger sounds better just cause it's smoother also price is better, plus you can just eq to compensate for highs and mids in post
Does the scarlett have a built in preamp or which are you using with it in this video? Id like to bypass the built in and use my ART MP, does the Behringer agree with that?
The Scarlett is unable to bypass its internal preamp entirely. The Behringer does have 2 inserts on the back which bypass the preamp and would be optimal for use with an external preamp.
The Art MP will with big probablity be about as good or worse than the built-in preamps of the scarlett. It is quite an old product with standard opamps, older than the ones in the scarlett. another argument: The more devices you plug into each other, the longer the line of audio, the more degradation of audio and the more sources of failure you put into your system...which is especially bad in the beginnings of your recording career, when you're not yet overly confident in finding faults in your recording chain.
Well. It depends actually. Just finished mixing my band's last EP and had to cut a lot of low end stuff and we used Scarlett 18i8. When talking about frequencies, It comes to taste and what we need for our particular song style. Behringer stuff are made to offer a good cost/benefit ratio and no other brand can offer that. If you have the money to choose, choose what suits your taste.
I own *that* Behringer. I am very happy with it. It's what I can afford and wanted to pay for. It's have been a choice of nothing if I had to pay for the Focusrite Scarlett along with the other bits and pieces. That said, from this demo, I prefer the sound of the Focusrite Scarlett and I'm going to be honest and say I don't actually know why. But I'm also over 40 so it's subjective to my ears aural infidelity. That said, the Behringer still sounds perfectly acceptable as in 'not at all shabby'. I'm very grateful and happy to have it. When not using a amp simulator, I use a Superlux 258-PRO mic for instrument, the poor man's budget Shure Beta 57. It too does a fine job. I think anyone would be hard pressed not be well pleased with either. The fantastic thing about the Behringer's UMC series is that they are so affordable in every segment.

Nice vid. When using your electric guitar, do you plug your guitar directly to your interface or guitar > pedals > interface? I'm kind of new to guitar recording and I'm more comfortable in using my pedals rather than applying the effects in post. Thanks.
In this clip I ran my guitar into my amp + cab and recorded that tone with a microphone that runs into an audio interface. You can run DI and skip the amp. Then you would apply an amp sim as an effect. I have some videos on the various ways you can record guitar. ua-cam.com/video/G8Kqj-OluJs/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/lK2JzvaPwrQ/v-deo.html

Every test between the scarlett and UMC20x or UR22 on youtube sounds like the scarlett has some kind of internal compressor running, while the other 2 units, especially the UR sound more open, dynamic, deeper and wider
@@Chris-cf2kp It is subtle, and I got one anyway after watching all the review videos and it sounds great and works great with my recordings. A bit of subtle EQ and/or using a DI can make it sound like any other interface. I play electric guitar in styles from blues to hard rock. Thanks for the video man. I really liked the UMC204HD , I think the sound was awesome, and for the price you just cant beat it.
excellent and professional comparison, the best I found on youtube, I think only 2 things are missing; latency test and background noise... Thanks for the video.
Im LISTENING this throught Behringer UMC202HD.
Arrive today
You may also be "Tone Deaf" There was a Major difference between the two which wasn't Minor. 🎵 🎶
I agree, but nothing that couldn't be adjusted with an eq in the DAW or modeler/amp.
What about at 1:16?
Solid point.
bassplayinggoalie sounds like the same noise. Maybe it’s coming from something else in the chain?
This just sounds like background noise in the room which the microphone picks up. Some of which he didn't edit out. Once the instrument starts, you don't hear it obviously.
HOLY SHIT FOCUSWRONG SUCKSSSS
Thanks for this simple and effective comparison. To me it sounds like Behringer all the way! The price is also killer for the ability to do both vocals and use my midi keyboard.
The greatest advantage of behringher is the low latency support in WDM driver. I sold a focusrite 2i4 1st gen because was high latency or glitches with every driver. I bougth a behringer UMC404 HD and i forget latency issues. Price is another point to Behringer. I highly recomend behringer UMC interfaces.
What's WDM???
what is wdm ? where u get it from ?
i thought the behringer models didnt have compatible drivers on pc?
yeah focusrite uses dogshit asio drivers. they are glitchy buggy trash.
Ya focusrite trash thought was my pc but tried every fix n still same issuse i ll try this hope it helps
The Behringer sounds brighter to my ear. The Focusrite is more natural sounding.
Same as my 👂 sir.. focuscrite more natural..
Yes
lmao
Can the behringer be equalized to be less bright and sound the same as the focusrite?
@@JuancarLord fixed on post? I guess. I'm still not sure on what to pick between the two.
I'm new to the scene, here are my opinions:
204HD has a lower noise floor with a dynamic range of 110db
2i2 is set at 106db
204HD has midi...I like my midi.
2i2 is such a widespread name and rep.
204HD is built by a brand whom has been around for long long time.
204HD has better lows, yes they may be muddy, but they give that "Broadcaster sound"
2i2 is crispier, but, in my experience, it is harder to bring out the lows. whereas with the 204HD, you can make those highs sparkle much easier and subtract mud in the lows.
204HD has better outputs
2i2 is limited on these outputs, at least in the 1 line input version.
204HD gives you more for 79USD (AMAZON)
2i2 Gives you less for 99.99USD, or 149.99USD for the 2 line input version, which still gives you less. (AMAZON)
2i2 comes with Protools | First, but this is offered for free from AVID, soooo thats lame. (SAME WITH Ableton LIVE LITE.) which is possibly why people buy it soo much, they think its a better deal, and they dont use MIDI.
204HD drivers are irrelevant for MacOS users.
2i2 is a top selling brand, but thats not always better, just more popular.
2i2 99.99USD model has 1/4" outputs, 99.99USD has RCA
I can only assume he was using 2i2 and not the solo.
204HD has better lows, yes they may be muddy, but they give that "Broadcaster sound"
2i2 is crispier, but, in my experience, it is harder to bring out the lows. whereas with the ----the opposite??
The problem if is is true less noise floor, here not comparison of noise and dynamic range
I can clearly hear more definition on the strat pick ups with the UMC204HD. If you listen closely and compare the same parts of the riff. It seems like scarlett sounds warmer due to the lack of the details present in the behringer unit. Just my ears and humble opinion. =)
Busy Violin Learner i hear that too
Busy Violin Learner yes the UMC204HD gives a clearer sound
you are correct and incorrect.
Jacobey I agree 100%
I always wanted to get focusrite but its really expensive and less feature than behringer, i have behringer 204 now, its amazing for price to feature.
The tiny difference in audio that people hear can be adjusted in editing, so the cheaper one wins!
It could perhaps if you don't record more that 1-2 tracks. Not if you record more and are counting on clear audio in the mix. But the Behringer definitely wins for its money.
@@jakobundikarus It's $130 now is it still worth it?
+ It has midi interface
Behringer would be my choice too on features and cost, but you will get very little, if any support if you have any issues.
In one of them, I turned the Scarlett knob to show that the volume was changing only for that channel).
What kind of custom drivers?
Thanks, Great!!! Both are good, I find the Scarlett warmer, and the behringer brighter, at least to me.
Thanks for the honest review am going all the way to behringer.. amazing sound and amazing price!
They say the pre amp and latency on behringer isn't as good as focusrite
similiar audio result, but my ear prefer to behringer....nice review broo, thanks
this is the kind of video that we like, simple and especific, thanks man!
1:16 Who will fix me now, dive in when I'm down~
dont let me drown...
I have the Behringer UMC 404HD and it offers so much more, 4 inputs, A/B monitoring, MIDI in/out, more outputs, inserts while still being cheaper than the 2i2. I hear only minimal difference in the sound of the two.

Behringer for the win! Great comparison bud! Thank you!
Vocals = Focusrite

nah. neither focuswrong
Nah man, focusrite sucks, Behringer best of the best in this price range.
i give it a like because you played "slow dancing in a burning room" intro
i like how close you got to that akg on the behringer one, and how you got further away for the behringer
wait what
This video really helped me man I can't thank you enough
Behringer gave so much more background noise on electric...

Yess! Finally a serious help by this video, thank u and congratulations 🤟
Please let us know about the latency
Great at the finish. The most important thing is how you sing and play, also how you make it sound at the end regardless of the interface you have.
Exactly... Behringer has actually thicker and stronger sound, it shows itself when hearing bass in orchestra
@@Kharazm4th An orchestra.... now that is interesting.
204hd....plus, it has inserts so you can connect external gear like compressors, eq's and even an external pre-amp while bypassing the pre-amps in the 204hd and only use it as a converter!
Damn! That's killer. Love modularity- Behringer wins hands down for that in my book and it's way less!
thx for the video.
For the electric guitar, the Berhringer sounded a bit warmer, but still had some distortion which may be the desired effect for some, but the Focus, though not as warm (loud/close) was clearer.
maybe one could counteract the distortion with lowering the output volume on the guitar
What pickups do you have in that strat? Sounds amazing
What a beautiful telecaster offset you got back there
Kley - good review and I liked your Strat work.
For the price any difference is negligible. There is a reason people are turning to the 404HD in droves.

How come we never get to see either of the products?
the scarlett sounds a little more bright in the highs which is kinda harsh on my audio technica headphones i like how the behriger sounds better just cause it's smoother also price is better, plus you can just eq to compensate for highs and mids in post
Hi,
Don't know if the question has been asked but, is the Scarlett a 1st or 2nd generation?
chumbo the picture used is of a first gen. But that doesn't mean that's what he used
both suck
What about using overdrive and distrotion effect ?
Which of the two do you recommend?
cual de los de los recomiendas?

Behringer more crisp sound on guitar IMHO
...but more bass in the voice.
how does the behringer reacts with humbuckers?Does high output pickups overload the behringer as it does with the Scarlett?
The behringer has an input pad so you can run much hotter signals into it without clipping the input.

yes. that's a regular headphone impedance. it will work.
great video. what type of camera did you use? I love the picture quality
Thank you! It is a Nikon D5300.
Nokia 3310
thank you for the helpful video. do you play wonder wall at parties
How about some lowdown on software compatibility issues? IOS vs PC etc?
Great video! What song were you playing on the acoustic guitar?
rkin Some riff I made up in DADGAD tuning.
Scarlett 2d generation?
Love your videos man. I am having a hard time getting a nice level on the input for my guitars on the 204hd. Any tips?
Brian Dress DI Box, i use them for both behringer umc 204hd and focusrite 2i2.
great review! but was there any post processing?
Thanq u for making this video
Cuestión? You record the eléctric guitar directly or use a ampli?
Every test between the scarlett and UMC20x or UR22 on youtube sounds like the scarlett has some kind of internal compressor running, while the other 2 units, especially the UR sound more open, dynamic, deeper and wider
I have to admit I heard focusrite sounds better and richer on other videos. I however will buy behringer for the price
I noticed this too. The focusrite seems to have a very slightly dulled spectrum in low, mid, and top to me. It's very subtle though.
@@Chris-cf2kp It is subtle, and I got one anyway after watching all the review videos and it sounds great and works great with my recordings. A bit of subtle EQ and/or using a DI can make it sound like any other interface. I play electric guitar in styles from blues to hard rock. I think it has that dulled sound because the entire spectrum is balanced, and none of the low/mid/top jump out at all. I have a gen2 solo, got it used for around 70$. If I had to get something now, I'd get the same thing.
@@petea8644 hmm, I play guitar and keys and sing, with guitar either mic'd or direct in. I'm likely going to go for the behr since it has midi in/out on the rear. I like that red look though but shrug
@@Chris-cf2kp Yeah I couldn't care less what something looks like, as long as it does what I need it to do, and if you need midi i dunno that any of the scarletts have it. What software do you use to compose?
Do you prefer one of these two interfaces or the m-audio air 192|4 ?
Please, there is a difference in quality between scarlett solo and 2i2 ? Thanks
Can i use UMC 204HD for live performance ? I need the daw for autotune and 1/2 for main and 3/4 for custom mix on In Ear Monooring. Will it work ?
