Great video, Rizwan! While I agree with most of your points, I do have a different perspective on the level of competitiveness in training and residencies across different countries. In countries like the USA, Germany and some other parts of Europe, the training process is more straightforward and shorter, with only 3 years required for EM and 6-7 years for Neurosurgery to become a consultant. In contrast, the US and Germany don't have rotational positions or unaccredited years, resulting in a more focused and productive system. The UK is quite similar to Australia, but with easier access to training and higher pass rates, allowing for more attempts at fellowship exams (e.g., 6+1 attempts for IM in the UK vs. 3 in Australia).

I wanted to ask you , is there any fees for pg ( speciality training ) in Australia? Do we need to pay them anything?

Hello Dr Rizwan, Im currently a 4th year Medical student in Pakistan, and I'm trying to decide whether to give the PLAB after 1 year of housejob, and stay in the UK for training after FY2, or give the PLAB and apply for training in australia after completion of FY2. However the issue I'm dealing with is that I'm interested in Radiology, and I'd like to go for the route that allows me the ability to get training to become a consultant of radiology (inshallah). Do you have any advice or remarks that you could make that would help in me making a decision? (Extra note: Im a british national)

Indian here, I hope to become a surgeon in Australia hopefully orthopaedics. Does having pvt practicing gps as mentors help? I’m having options like uk and Germany open. I don’t want to do any other non surgical residency. Pay and quality of life is an important factor but I rather be into something that I love doing and wake up excited everyday to do what I love. And can u please make a video about how can one get into competitive residency as an img.
