- Finally a plane kit build on my channel! I thought it made sense to build something iconic first up and so I built this mighty Spitfire! What could be more iconic, right?
More planes coming. Not immediately. But there will be more in the future.
Suggestions for good plane kits are welcome!
Also, There's a clear plastic piece that goes into the underside of the fuselage that I forgot. But I figure, that doesn't matter much. Probably would have been painted over and not seen anyway.

My heart sank when I saw the old-tooling parts. Airfix have since made new moulds for their plane kits, including many marks of Spitfire! Airfix might not be the best model company around, but their current plane kits are fantastic! Now I wish they would update their armour kits already! 60+ year old moulds are only nostalgic for so long.
That box art seems reminiscent of a certain movie that came out this year :3
You should do one of airfix's newer tooled kits, they are much better than the older kits
Very true
A friend of mine is using cheap model kits like Airfix just for the decals, they're usually cheaper to buy than actual decals.
Ah. The old-school Spitfire! This is the ancient kit. I had a challenge with some friends a couple of years ago to build the new Spitfire kits from Airfix. They are very nice. Maybe check one out for contrast.
Star Wars Bandai models are really cool!
Thanks for the PVA glue tip to stop fogging on the canopy.
seconded, i never knew that.
nice to see a plane kit (this one is a good one, i like spitfires), the new tooling kits from airfix are really good. Im looking forward to getting the new 1/72 ME-262 from airfix..for now, im working on a dragon 1/72 Panther F
Great vid, I'd like too see a more rubicon kits. Particularly the new jeep or motor bike.
Hey Herbert, why has that tank got wings???
Have a great week and have fun, Joe
Excellent model now all you need to do is paint if you want some paint you can try none toxic like humbrol or normal kids paint it works I tryed
If I understood you the right way this wasn't an expansive kit. Concerning this it looks to me like a reasonable kit.
That is true. If it was expensive it would be outrageous. Not too bad considering the price, really.
Great video Herbert! Also the "airspeed measuring tube" is called a pito tube. (Peeto is its pronunciation)
pitot
Brothe you have gotten the wrong kit. Both Airfix's Hawker Hurricane and their Spitfire mk 1/2 kits are beautiful ! The Hurricane kit can also make a Sea Hurricane and part fit is the best I've ever seen. You won't be filling wing joints either. I had to buy two Hurricane kits and four Spitfire kits along with some really nice detail sets from CMK and several wheel sets too ! I was surprised when I was asked by some English modelers why the aircraft had red tape squares over them. The armament crew put them over the mg ports to show that the aircraft was ready to go. I enjoyed your build. Something I've seen my aircraft buddies use this method to help close the gap at the wing roots. Apply masking tape to the bottom of one wing and go over the top to the opposite wing. Tighten it and then go back to the top of the other wing. I haven't built an aircraft in some time so I haven't tried it myself.
1/2 Kit must be expensive! :D
TheBod76 Yes indeed it is !!!
The red tape over the gun ports was to prevent the ingress of dirt into the guns during take off…..
Wait 20mm cannons on a 20mm kit. Coincidence I think not illumanatie confermed
RIP (old tooling)
You should build a CAC Wirraway or CAC Boomerang aircraft
Cool idea. Do you know of any good kits of those?
Airfix did the Boomerang. I also know a guy who did a 1:1 scale Boomerang, but I think it might be above your budget though.
For the Boomerang, the only good kit is from SpecialHobby which has 2 variants available: the CA-12 And the CA-13 and only in 1:72 scale :-)
I have built the Airfix Boomerang. It is an ancient old kit, and has some flaws, but mine turned out OK with a bit of work.
you shouldve bought the new tooled kit
A very good review for a pretty awful kit i'd say, you are very kind! Some of their kits are really nice, however, such as the 1/76 (or was it 1/72?) Cromwell which really surprised me. It all seems hit and miss with Airfix because some kits are new, others seem to be re-tooled and some are the same as they were when they were released in The Dark Ages.
I'd like to request the Zvezda 1/35 T35 because its a really nice build and great value for money.
Wait that’s a hawker hurricane prototype!
No. It's a spitfire.
Moar :D
can you operate your z21 and multimause on piko track system
kit code as i want to get one
Should've bought a eduard kit, so much nicer than airfix
Eduard mostly make 1:48s and they are super detailed
Привет ! Стойки истребителя криво установили. А так хороший обзор ! 👍
Thats the old tooling.....buy a New tooled kit like the spitfire mk.1a in 1:72 scale..Airfix actually have one of the best cuality kits... its just People happends to buy old kits wich have lower standards than they have now.....
Buying a new kit is a lovely idea and all. The old ones are all packaged exactly the same way as the new ones, so i's kind of hard to tell what you're in for.
Doesn't really inspire me to want to buy more of their stuff.
I know there's scalemates and such, but I'm not going to stand in the middle of the hobby shop doing research and if I'm going to go to the effort of researching online and then waiting for it to arrive I'll be looking for something better than Airfix. They're always an impulse buy and the best way to avoid 50 year old tooling is to not buy.
Herbert Erpaderp as Said..try the kit with a sample computer picture s on the side.. that is airfix's new box style. All kits with that is newtooled...
I prefer tamiya.
you bought the crap spitfire kit by airfix...
They don't generally advertise themselves as the crap ones, so you can't tell them apart from the good ones... This is why I don't impulse buy Airfix kits anymore.
@@HerbertErpaderp i meant it light heartedly but no, you're right...a little advice, you can check on the box to see the tooling date with the copyright things, helps a bit. i recommend the airfix percival jet provost for a nice looking, good fitting kit!
