The Black Snake.
Oil.
First Nations.
Standing Rock.
Mama Earth.
As many of you know, the Black Snake also known as the Dakota Access Pipeline, is trying to make its way through the sacred land of the Standing Rock Sioux in North Dakota. Right now there are thousands of people standing in protest against it’s construction. But this isn’t just about Standing Rock. To me, this isn’t about “us” and “them”. This is about WATER. This is about protecting one of life’s most vital resources for our children’s children’s children. For Black, White, Red, Yellow, Brown. All Colors. All Nations. All Tribes.
In many ways, I see that we can turn the struggle against the Dakota Access Pipeline into a blessing. A blessing that can wake us all up to the horrors of corporate greed that functions at the expense of our natural resources. A blessing to make all of us come together, no matter who we are and where we came from, to stand up and say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. A blessing of learning to let go of selfishness and greed, to come together for the greater good.
“If you are a rock, stand up like a mountain.”
So here we are … trying our best to stand up.
For many of us, we can’t make the trip to Standing Rock to stand next to our brothers and sisters on the front lines. But we can stand up where ever we are to show our support and solidarity in many ways. Don’t be foolish and under estimate the power of prayer.
This song entitled “Standing Rock” is a prayer.
Written by my friend Aaron Edwards and myself, this song is inspired by the land of Standing Rock and all of the warriors out there on the front lines laying down their lives for WATER. They are mountains in and of themselves … touching the sky with their peaks of strength, love, and selfless service. But these mountains need their own water in the form of food, tents, blankets, and other materials in order to keep standing tall against the black snake. We are offering this song to help provide them with these things.
If you download this song, 100% of the funds raised will go directly to the front lines of Standing Rock to support our brothers and sisters standing up for what we believe in. You can donate as much as you’d like, be it $1 or $100 … every dollar counts.

Trump is such a fraud and it disgust me to see him proclaim to be a savior. He knows about what's going on with the oil attack on this reservation. I just can't wait for this pageant of an election to be over.
Both Hillary Clinton and Trump are terrible. The only Candidate who's publically stood against the DAPL is Jill Stein she even got arrested in the process. Her Action speaks as loud as the other two's silence.

It's highly likely that life started from water because there is more life in the oceans and on an atomic level liquids are always moving so it is the perfect environment for adaptation with organisms and even more evolution

Thank you for this inspirational song about such an important grassroots movement. I have published an environmental story called 'Animals in the Forest: The Day Terrible Things Came'. One of the main characters is a deer called Dakota - she is named specifically to show solidarity with Dakota water protectors.
