I miss that restaurant. I went multiple times as a kid. I still have a menu from the restaurant somewhere. I remember when they closed, they closed without notice. They just closed one night and never reopened. And for a while you were still able to spot things from the restaurant in the building when it was turned into horror mazes. The themed bathrooms were still intact and apparently so was the kitchen, according to an employee I knee who worked there years ago. But, man.. that brought back so many memories. Universal in the 90s was wild.
Kenny: *Pulls out knife* Me: *casually watching* Kenny: Alright Listen Up Me: *sticks hands up* I was already planning on it Is this a good segway into some new costume evolution videos
I went to this restaurant a lot as a kid. One of the coolest things they had for a wee bit of time was when they hooked up one of the Marvel vs Capcom/Street Fighter arcade machines up on the big wall of TVs. Core memory
I came across your video while trying to figure out if Universal is going to expand their X-Men material at all (the Storm teacup ride doesn’t do much for me) after the huge success of X-Men ‘97 and Deadpool & Wolverine. I think I knew deep down that it wasn’t much more than wishful thinking, but I’m glad to have come across your video. I love listening to people being passionate about why they enjoy, and your video made me laugh on top of that. Thanks for this!
One of my best friends had her 13th birthday party dinner there in if I'm doing the math right must have been 1999 and let me tell it was as awesome as you think it was. Even the bathrooms were themed. I remember one of the girls in the group came back to the table and was like you all have to go see the bathroom. And mirrors were 2 way mirrors and occasionally the lights would flicker and the hulk (at least i think it was hulk... it was a long time ago) was on the other side of the mirror. I have to admit i havent thought about that day in decades but this video unlocked that memory.
Man, I wish I could've seen that show. Child me would've lost his mind seeing basically all the animated Marvel shows from the 90s on stage. BTW, I think that unmasked Wolverine is from X-Men Evolution. Great video!
The second I saw the Hulk costume, I knew we were in it for insanity. Every costume just looks so cheesy and amazing and I love it so much. I so wish I could have visited the Marvel Mania restaurant
I wish that they kept that stunt show and Marvel Mania. To have all of those guys be walk around characters would of been awesome for me. Honestly, they should have nightcrawler, Angel/archangel, deadpool and gambit at universal. I know deadpool and wolvy will appear at avengers campus.. Hopefully If not the Merc with the mouth should go elsewhere xd. Either way itll be exciting seeing them do something for the new deadpool and wolverine/deadpool 3 movie.
Damn, Universal definitely gets the W then. If only Marvel didn't wreck the Versus series with Infinite thanks to downplaying properties they didn't have movie rights for, then after Capcom's resurgence in recent years including arcade cabs in a Marvel restaurant would repair any damage done between the two companies a little and work as a nostalgia appeal to older fans (plus extra publicity from older SoCal FGC folks who are content creators).😔
I love what you do
I am so with you loving these little glimpses of what people were doing in the past

90s was such a fun time. That restaurant looked amazing
This is so neat!
The Marvel dinner on the Wish looks fun.

I know that Kenny doesn’t WANT to stab me…but will he?

I walked past that restaurant long ago... if only I had more memories of it...

I thought he had a mask and the brown costume look in x men evolution.
He had both! The first two seasons he wore the brown costume. Then the remainder of the show he wore the Ultimate outfit.
It's so interesting to see how Universal handled Marvel costumes! Thanks for the throwback, would love to see more of these.
I genuinely thought that Cyclops in his new costume was supposed to be Multiple Man.

I think the perverts want to know if Kenny considers himself the Sherlock Holmes of Mtn Dew
Yes. No mtn dew is safe from my perceptive palate.
It’s elementary my dear Watson
But did the restaurant have any Marvel arcade game cabinets? The Versus series with Capcom was around...
Oh yeah. They actually did. I saw marvel vs street fighter.

Dr doom flipped me off at universal one time, I knew he was a super villain but that was just mean. 😢
He’s always doing stuff like that.
young me would have absolutely lost his mind if he had seen Mr. Sinister or Doom in person like that
