Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan, the noted exponent of the Kirana gharana has the distinguished lineage of being a direct descendant of the luminaries Ustad Abdul Karim Khan and Ustad Abdul Wahid Khan. Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan's is known for his rare collection of innumerable bandishes, which he portrays to perfection. In the maiden Bengal Classical Music Festival, held in Dhaka in 2012, he sang Raag Malkauns and Khamaj, which revealed great imagination, vocal agility and understanding of various angs of the Kirana gayakee. A judicious tabla accompaniment by Pt. Yogesh Samsi added great depth to the memorable recital.

You are right. The bhajan from Baiju Bawra is based on the same raag (Malkauns).
