Dude, freaking smart to use 2 main sprockets like that. I would steal sprockets next time and not aluminum ones. But damn, you really surprised me. Never saw 2 sprockets like that and it really makes sense.
I'm really happy to see someone building that suspension. I've been thinking about that sort of setup to years now and I've never seen it in a build. I thought of it as a teenager watching OCC. I thought it would be really cool for them to build a bike that had a pair of front tires in the rear with swingarms and chains in the middle instead of a single wide rear tire. If setup correctly a bike built like that could standup on it's own without a kickstand, but could roll around corners.
The ONLY criticism I would offer is to try not to make all your drive sprockets as custom pieces. Try to figure out mounting fixtures for them that would enable you to use them as is.... Because those sprockets are GOING to wear out. And it's going to be a huge PITA to fabricate 4 new ones every time. Still an awesome build, though.
Yeah simple bolt on sprockets are the way to go but the front sprockets always have a small diameter hole in the middle that won’t fit Over the shaft . I’m having the same problem
Incredible setup. Reminds me of the suspension on the Halo Wharthog. Also using the jack shaft to also act as the pivot for the control arms just blew my mind. That can you so much travel it should be illegal.
I’m more excited about this build than I was about the VFR1000 buggy. It looks amazing so far. One suggestion I have is when you mount your shocks on the rear make sure that at full extension your ride height is a little higher than you want so that when the shocks compress under the weight of the buggy it’s sitting at exactly the height you want. Hope that made sense, lol.
That twin-chain setup is genius. Humungous amounts of travel with no CVs or UJs or anything because it's all just rotating around the drive sprocket which rotates anyway. Plus super low unsprung weight.

Tons of travel front and rear. You're going to need a bigger trailer and truck to bring this and the VF1000 buggy to the trails. Cannot wait to see this rip through the trails.
I came up with a design couple years ago i call the mantis it uses gears in place the chains and is awd but this is awsome project cant way for progression follow it along to see where you go
Really love the build so far! My only worry is the adjustable tensioning where the trailing arms meet the hubs. That will end up sliding no matter how tight you make it, unless you use a bolt to adjust the tension (as in, twist it one way to lengthen travel a little, the other way to reduce)
Not that my opinion matters, but it’s great to see you level-up on the suspension. Now you can get different “spring-rates” The compression and rebound can be tuned. And the shocks look to be rebuildable. Nice choice!

I like this, but one thing I think is a must on this build would be chain tensioners, on each of those bolts ur using to adjust tension. Just as an extra step to KEEPING it tight, even if the bolt slipped. Also would make chain tightening a breeze.
I had a similar Idea , except using 2 cr250 rear swing arms , they have everything on them you need , sprockets , chains , shocks, and linkage and 18" knobbies
The only major thing I find odd in this build is that the pivotpoint for the rear wheels is also the drive shaft. That shaft and everything attached to it will have to be strong as hell. Not to mention the bearings that are mounted to the swingarms. Great video!
Love the build, my only concern is the main roll bar hoop not being a single piece. Those joints at the corners will be failure points in the event of a rollover.
I like watching you channel you basic modify the off the shelf part and make them look like they were manufactured for a mass production vehicle. And when you make parts from scratch is a lost are it takes imagination to make stuff in to something. And that is great but Christmas ask for a small plasma table you can make those brackets in no time and you will save so much on plate steel because you cuts are perfect. If your worried about the cad program not that hard to use your definitely a computer person . But can't wait to see the reverses trike
I like your work I'm getting ready to start another build myself but I'm going to be using a 4-cylinder car motor I did the motorcycle motor onto four-wheeler transplant several times and hitting the motorcycle motor on lawn mowers and making motorcycles into tricycles now I'm going to be building a buggy myself
Love the unique approach on the chain drive. Just on the adjustable portion of your chain . Might flip it on the down side , due to torque of the engine possibly letting the chain loosen will in motion . A lot of force would be controlled by just the bolts . Hopefully It helps . Love your videos and your projects !!!
Just an idea, could be more complicated than it's worth, but for the dual transmission set up you could use a Stick for the independent trans and make Paddle Shifters of some kind for the engine trans

Sometimes keeping it simple makes you look smarter and less complicated is faster to copy and maintain and overall lasted longer and less of a headache when shit happens and shit happens
Project name suggestion....Fire Quad (on account motor is from a fireblade 😎) The the whole gearbox idea for having reverse gear, have you considered just using a car starter motor with a ring gear then rig it up on your mid shaft, that way you have an electric reverse gear and save a bunch of weight over having to use the car gearbox ? Also as for sprockets, instead of buying motorcycle sprockets and machining to fit, you can buy sprockets from the bearing industry like BMG that will work on the chains you have selected thus making getting a sprocket to suit your project easier

He's gonna have problems when turnings because on the outside wheels there's gonna be tension on the lower part of the chain because outside wheels want to spin faster, using tensioners will create more problems, that's what I think, we will see when it's finished
Your doing a lot of circular welding, how about one of those turntable thingy's to make it a bit faster ? PS. Clicked like before even watching the video, looking forward to the end bit / out-takes :)
Solid shaft driving both rear wheels driven by chain. This seems to me not to allow the rear tires to go up and down independently. Once the front sprockets are welded in place it effectively locks both wheels into the same plane. When say the left rear goes up it will rotate the drive shaft forward which in turn will try to raise the opposing wheel. Some kind of differential is needed on the drive shaft is needed I would think. But maybe you already have something in mind. I'm interested to see how you work this.
It looks like you're going to need a chain guide on the upper suspension arm on each side so the chain doesn't wear through it. But it does look like a nice setup.
Cool design but man that will be hard to work on. Could build the rear swingarms on the same plane/pivot point but outside the inner sprockets so you don’t havto tear everything apart if you need to work on or change something?
Im fairly certain that transmission is missing a piece that holds the input shaft and its bearing in place. I think theres supposed to be a piece that slides over the shaft and bolts to the casing
I love the build however I'm concerned at how much mechanical disadvantage there is going to because if the chain, add the tensioners, add rollers, shimmy and movement, drag, I just think drive shafts would be the wiser choice in my point of view, one or two chains...fine but 4 I think is leaning abit towards the disadvantage

THAT is how one handles rear suspension without messing up the chain while moving. Chain AND rear MUST pivot at same point. TY for making this.

Considering how much he drives hes creations, wearing them out shouldnt be problem ;
Custom sprocket hubs would be better that can mate to the spline and be held in by a retaining clip.
Yeah those aluminum sprockets are junk even on an atv so this motor is gonna rip those teeth off

Great job! May I suggest putting your slot for chain adjustment on the bottom, that way the torque won’t try to loosen the chain as you accelerate.
Very cool. You might need some sort of additional lock on that chain tensioner to prevent it from moving when you hit a bump.

That kind of suspension was used in realy old race cars and it works fine
