I remember the first time I heard this song. I was driving down the flight line in Goose Bay, Labrador. It became a favorite of mine and of my late wife Marjorie, After she died it always took me back to a happy time when we were together. God bless Jim and his beautiful music.
I am so sorry for your loss David. I lost my wife 3 years ago and it never gets any easier. Our heavenly father knows our sorrows and I will pray for you. God bless and keep you.
@@leonalm7510 Thanks Leon. It is a tough thing to bear, but after a time the good memories remain while the bad memories of the days after her death fade away.
Thank you Jim Cuddy - bright star among our Canadian brothers and sisters; keep that beautiful music drifting south across our border, it's appreciated beyond words.
@Jimcuddyofficia I'm not sure if you are the real jim. But, Absolutely enjoyed the music, Since I was little one till now. My dad was a big fan and I just got to hear The music and also enjoyed it
my mom chose this for her funeral! She was a wonderful woman in her 80yrs raised nine children..This song was so fitting, she was sick and we have a few family members in medicine.. Too many hands describes the care we gave her on her jouney.
This is such a great song, I have been a big fan from the beginning and still a big fan. a few years ago I was asked to be the bartender for a private event at a hotel I was working and got to meet Jim, what a nice man he is, got my CD signed. This event was for 3 days during the Juno Awards, what a thrill it was.
@Jim cuddy official The best for me is when I was your bartender at the Sheraton Hotel, it was for 3 days and you and your team gave me a standing ovation for a job well done, I was told the first day we had over 200 people there and I was the only one working at the time. as you saw I move very fast when I bartend, it was an honor and a pleasure to work for you and thank you for signing my CD. I was run over by a truck in November and wasn't able to come to your show at Niagara Falls, he broke my leg, and I was in the hospital. Hope you are coming to Hamilton soon, would love to see you here. hope all is well and safe. Happy New Year to you.
Everything Jim sings is just plain beautiful., lyrical, inspirational, and just good writing and melodic., great songs to sing along to and to bring back some sort of memory. Thanks Jim for your great contributions to so many lives.
I found this song as part of the soundtrack of "The Highwayman", a dramatic movie which was released in 2000. Jim Cuddy gets a performing credit. I love the song and Jim is in my top five songwriter performers. Amazing talent there.
soooo glad the official video is on here. I could listen to Jim cuddy 24/7. I love EVERY Jim Cuddy song and Blue Rodeo song. This is one of my faves along with pull me through!!! I would LOVE to sing a duet with him!!!
Lisa McMaster me to one of the greats had the chance to meet him in Fort McMurray with a picture of him and I it was awesome to meet him one of my many idols
I love Jim. I'm proud to be Canadien. I am proud to be in a country that origins many great musicians. that and the british invasion with beatles n whatnot. Austrailia Jet, good stuff everywhere
the thought behind the expression of "too many hands" to me just means and reminds me of how many people in our lives are always trying to tell us what to do to make our lives so picture perfect when they haven't done so well in their own and never perfected what could even come close to proper problem solving skills to be so successful in keeping their own relationships from falling apart. real ones to expout what you should always do to reach a life lasting partnership eh? too many hands just mind their own business and walk the walk instead of always talking the talk. but to walk the walk... cuz it's like too many people on the deck of a ship just sinks it you know ? live your life sometimes just means for some to take the cotton out of their ears and put it in their mouth and stop yacking and listen instead of giving advice when they don't know shit.
too many hands have a way of interfering with too many things w especially when it only takes two. it's like having too many passengers on a ship... something is prone to sink you...
when there's too many people minding our business and trying to come between us and not minding their own. i think the less people outside us say, the more they will be jealous of how we are..... too many hands is like too many passengers on a ship. if they want to sink, that is their own problem, just don't try to sink us with them....
just too many people telling us what is right or wrong for us depending what's going on with their own and too many times believing they know what's right for us and regretting it after we followed what they said and lost our own direction and too late to go back., but doesn't stop our dreams even though we can't relive them because we already gave them up....ZZZZZZZZZZ
I always equated this song with those who have no voice...maybe in a country where there is suppression of the truth or oppression...hands raised in hope....dunno...just my take. Cheers all :)
too many hands in your life is pretty much the same as having too many people in your life trying to tell you how to live your life, or control, ain't it?? probably not too many people that can't relate to that one. it's similar to having too many passengers on a cruise ship. the more people the higher the possibilities of sinking the ship. too much advice or so called "friendly advice" leaves no room for planning your own life and making your own decisions. just my opinion!!!

I love this tune! I am learning it on my guitar!
Me too. On Ultimate Guitar in the key of C, I think the 2nd chord should be Em, not G.
