I drive an e46 and ordered a stage 2 ecu from revmatch which was dme deleted so it’s just plug n play and heard such good things about revmatch and was so excited. But when I hooked up the new ecu it just stalled and then failed to turn over all together. Such a sad experience 😢and 300$ down the drain. 😭
What if there's an existing flash tune on he car- will a bm3 custom or ots tune rewrite the entire file over the old tuned file?
Do you know if this is also possible with the OBDLink CX?

Thank you so much, I did this with my F32 with the Botmod3 and MHD apps and both told me my DME was locked. Considering the Dinan handheld tuner but not sure if it'll work on a locked DME either.
I should be thanking you for giving me the inspiration for this video in your last comment! But yeah that is a good question. Dinan does work with BMW so I’d imagine they’d allow it but at the same time, if the DME is locked, how could it even be possible?
@@ayyyman_ No problem! Dinan is currently offering a handheld flash tuner in their site that can unlock and relock the DME (relock for whenever you go to the dealer). Seriously considering it because the DME unlock on its own can be $200 plus and the Dinan tuner is currently $675.

I’m considering jb4 because I still have a drive train warranty and according to burger Motorsport, the jb4 doesn’t flash the ecu
The b58 is pretty reliable but I don’t want to void my power train warranty for about another 20k miles

If that’s the case, I think the JB4 or even a JB+ would be a better option for you. I did a video about the JB+ on my X3 M40i

Hey, I think you said you wanted to covert your 330 to m sport? If you are planning on doing that, when are you doing that. I want to convert mine and I turst your knowledge on these cars.
Yup that’s the plan! I’m probably going to do the conversion over time so starting with the front bumper. It does get expensive especially with paint and all that

uh no. the 3 in bootmod3 stands for e. so its actually BOOTMODE.
Is it stamped on the DME or this is the only way to check.
I don’t believe so. It’s something that can happen even after the DME has been manufactured like in the case of my330i

I’d assume you can use them to go into that same screen I went into to check
You can easily tune your car with a JB4 or JB+ regardless if the ECU locked or unlocked.
For sure. But very different than flash tuning
@@ayyyman_ Not really, the end result is the same with both JB4 and flash tuning. The car is faster. They are both tuners. Your video is titled "CAN YOU TUNE YOUR BMW" should be "CAN YOU FLASH TUNE YOUR BMW" TBH.
