It’s incredible he predicted so many things such as visual communication like emojis. Virtual commercial space, like the meta verse, space colonisation Space x, art such as NFT’s.

To comment on his warning about VR being just like computer games, I honestly think he would be pleased about videogames these days. There are many storymode videogames where you experience in a way another person's perspective in a much more intimate and engaging way than even movies. I feel that it fits in with his perspective on VR technology.

I really hope that, sometime in my lifetime, I can sit at a Terence Mckenna talk in VR/AR/MR. He died when I was 12. I've been to a few different get-togethers with some big players in the community, but none of them are as interesting and thought-provoking as Mckenna. The crazy thing about Mckenna is that there is so much media of him that maybe one day we can feed all of his texts and talks into a machine learning AI and spit out something that resembles a Terence Mckenna AI in the Metaverse. Kinda like Alan Watts in the movie Her.
I went surfing years ago, while experiencing the effects of mescaline. I feel as if I was given the gift of remembering the awe of beauty that surrounds me in every moment of being conscious in the present reality. If virtual reality mitigates risk, it lessens the impact of consequences that can lead to deep understanding. How many people have played sports, been in combat, flown an aircraft, raced motorcycles, etc., and think that VR or drugs, could come close to being equivalent?
Well, virtual reality if done incorrectly is quite actually how the "machines" introduce us to the 'Matrix', to use the Matrix plot as an analogy. This kind of technology if done incorrectly could bring people to cause more void in their life, which is why Terrence shared his concerns such as he did in this interview.

I really dont get why people are tripping. People walk around with androids in their face already. Most people do. Thanks to Meta , the plebes can make some simple games in Horizon. Other than that, the metaverse is just game devs trying to make better games, and the plebes will buy the cosmetics like they always did. It has little to do with Meta or oculus per se. It's going to be a long time before facebook makes an actual good game that can run on the headset. You need PC VR to play the good games (and make sure to buy them on Steam, not the oculus store). As far as catalysts go: The metaverse can save humans from their destructive habits and vices. I race fast cars, wrek them, rek some noobs, and screw hot chicks, all in the metaverse.

But I do think that reducing this tech to "3D computer games" -- or considering that frame a reductive or pointless one -- misses the crucial role that _play_ itself plays, in all life experience. We are not _homo sapiens_ , much less are we _homo sapiens _*_sapiens_* ... we are _homo ludens_ , gamers at the animal level who have been enjoying a long winning streak, if you consider scorched earth to be an acceptable end-game tactic.
You’re really onto something by deconstructing this polarization & I also feel we miss the mark in many ways when we reduce human experiences to terms of productivity vs play. At the same time, the underlying warning feels substantial: we have a duty to see that our collective culture is enriched in a variety of ways beyond what the commercial motives will permeate.
