I'm still upset that they never officially released the OST for this DLC. This is one of the best tracks in the entire game. I'd go so far as to say it's one of my favorites in the entirety of Final Fantasy. So much emotion and epicness packed into it. Say what you will about any of the Final Fantasy games, but the music is always immaculate.
I think we would have gotten a V3 with all wave 2 DLC tracks _ the missing ones from the main game if they ever finished the DLC. I guess they never saw the handful of tracks in EP Ardyn to be enough to be worth releasing the music for. Sad since this is a pretty nice track
@@WilliamBraswell-es6pp Yeah, no. Hard fucking disagree there. He was evil incarnate. A bad dad(that ACTUALLY SECURED HIS FUTURE VIA THE JOESTAR DEBT TO HIM, BTW) doesn't justify even a tenth of the crap he did. He was just comically evil/awfully written. What part of "Oh hey I just met you, and I'm fucking crazy, so I kicked your dog and I'm also going to gaslight your father before murdering him(and said dog) maybe" to the FIRST PERSON HE MEETS THAT IS NICE TO HIM(Johnathan) tells you he's anything BUT a shitty villain/a TOTAL monster/psycho/etc..?
I think what i enjoy about this track a lot that it carries a lot of weight to it. From Ardyn's point of view, Somnus is cruel monster who ruined his life, (which is true to a some extent.) but we only ever saw Somnus from Ardyns view, the reality of Somnus as a person is that he has the utmost love for his brother that was tainted by ambition, insecurity and manipulated by the Astrals. Somnus was just as much a pawn of Bahamut as Ardyn and Noctis was. This final boss theme is not the song of triumph but a lament that two brothers have both fallen so fall.

Definitely have to agree one of the best final boss tracks and overall tracks full of emotions ❤
Monsters aren’t born, they are created
Well except for DIO, that one's evil from birth lol
@@rellgenki even dio, look who his father was. He was a product of abuse and neglect
Here the part. Villains aren't born. They're made.
By God in this situation

1:33 goosebumps, such a heroic melodic version of somnus
3:27 this part looks like Vergil final boss theme from Devil May Cry 3 that's amazing
I get Goosebumps just remembering that battle (DMC 3) and this 1 honestly i was legit happy to whoop somnus' fake arse
It sounds like Jill/Shiva's theme in FFXVI
@@Emucratic Yeah it sounds similar too
Fights between family are among the most epic but also the most tragic.
somnus ost has the same vibe as lorian and lothric ost, both incredible soundtracks
1:12 ❤️

Good LORD. Say what you will but this game has one of the licence's best soundtracks
3:26 🥲
LOL this sounds more like final boss music for the whole main game than the main game final boss music. xD This is like infinitely more amazing!
1:32 ♡

My god this makes me feel extremely fuzzy
2:15 !
3:30 Zelda's lullaby
Been thinking that for literal years 😂
This like srdyn theme and somnus mix become one
From 3:30 to 3:38, that part sounds like Zelda's theme.
5:43 🥺
Worst part of the song tbh
