Your videos are amazing and super helpful, thank you so much. Question: Lets say a customer takes an early pay discount on an invoice dated 5/30/XX. The invoice/revenue is recorded in May, however, the check was received and dated in June, with the early pay discount correctly taken by the customer. I've already closed the May books and do not want any numbers to change. I enter the early pay discount on the invoice dated 5/30/XX, that will change the May numbers even though I've already closed May books. How do I avoid this so that I don't have to keep restating the previous month's financials?
Thank you but your question is an accounting Theory question and not a QuickBooks question I suggest you ask your local CPA I do appreciate the kind words and I am glad the videos are helping you and I hope you will click like after watching each one to help support the free channel for everyone and please subscribe Mark
Yes, you can change the settings in the cogwheel menu of the report to include terms as an additional column in the report. Try it with customer reports like "transaction list by customer and open invoice reports or. Other and see Mark
If I'm understanding the early payment instructions correctly, it sounds like we're relying on "Betty" to do the math and pay the discounted amount. Is that correct? Otherwise, if she paid the original full amount, it would seem that we'd have to offer a credit to her account.
But the customer is supposed to know that they're taking the discount If we sell someone who wants the discount, then they should know when they pay and yes, you're correct if they get the discount, then they pay too much.We retain the credit Mark
@@worldwidequickbooks Thank you! And...if they take the discount after the time frame, then I guess we have to politely tell them that they still owe us some $$$.

These are great, thank you! I have a client does shaved ice is offering stamp cards (I just learned via IG). 5 stamps and they get 50% off a snowball and 10 stamps the get a free snowball! I guess now I need to make 2 discounts for these. My concern was, is the free like free sample so was it an expenses..but I guess a discount has the same impact in that it reduces net income via sales vs expenses. Thanks for your amazing videos!
