Franz Liszt’s Ave Maria von Arcadelt is based on the melody of the chanson “Nous voyons que les hommes” by Jacques Arcadelt (1501-1568), which was itself adapted in the 19th century by Pierre-Louis Dietsch into a choral setting of “Ave Maria.”
