- Hey flockers,
In today's video we are discussing the body language of baby macaws, baby blue and gold macaw behaviours you may not understand, baby macaw moulting, baby macaw weaning and hand feeding baby macaws plus lots of other things. When we first got Shelby our baby blue and gold macaw there were not a huge number of videos surrounding baby macaw topics such as why is my macaw nodding his head, why is my macaw bobbing up and down slowly, why is my macaw wing flicking plus lots of other questions. We hope to answer some of your questions here!

do you recomend illiger macaws???
Hey! This is really helpfull😀 i have A baby blue gold macaw who is 3 months old and she isn’t eating pellets, fruits, seeds or anything. I’ve been crying over her because i just don’t know what to do. She still gets her baby food 3 times A day. I am really scared she won’t eat normal food at all. Do you have Any tips? This video gives me A little bit of comfort thank you for that!❤️
@@esleyvankooten6265 3 months is still very very young! Leave food out for your baby to try but she definitely isn’t ready to wean yet so don’t force it
Hello I have a 9 month old macaw that still doesnt know how to eat pellets, is there anyway I can help it wean? I suspect it might have been forced weaned. Additionally I like to feel its crop to see if I should feed more and he likes to lift his foot up like a wave, what does that mean? He also lifts both wings up whenever he sees me, does that mean he is scared or happy to see me? He likes to taste my fingers alot isit because he wants to bite? Thank you!
We just got a 5yr McCaw and training takes time. I got him from a friend who couldn't spend time I'm home alot so I can be there for him

Great vid!!! do you recommend an illiger macaw as pets???
I don't own one and don't know much about them, and different birds / animals suit different people. Do lots of research to find out the best one for you!
Very interesting and informative video.🧐🧐🧐 I enjoy hearing her squeaks and squacks. 🥰🥰🥰Just a beautiful little girl. 😇😇More about molting and pin feathers.
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you!
More detail about the consistency and temperature you were told to give her for her feed, timing of feed/s. She's just too adorable for words. My little girl arrives next week. Xx
Hey sorry for the delayed response, hope you're getting on well with your baby and got some good feeding advice in the mean time x
@@ShelbyTheMacaw Thanks, yes all good - Penny is doing amazing!! They're just all so gorgeous and we're at the super cuddly stage and tummy tickles but being careful not to bring on hormonal issues. Xx

How did you guys teach Shelby to shower? My 14 week old hates it
Birds can be trained to shower, by nature they are water lovers and enjoy showers, so be sure to make it a fun experience. Never use water as punishment. Start slowly and ensure there are plenty of treats. Try different things, maybe your bird prefers to play in the sink with the tap on? Try with a misting spray bottle. Or maybe they would prefer a bowl of water to play?
My macaw could care less about taking a shower.... Unless I'm in it 😂 🤣 🦜
First set of feathers aren’t the good ones, plus they’re very active. So they get damaged.
Very true
