Why??? These are NOT hash browns. It's some sort of flour cake with potato shreds. I'm horrified. I make hash browns all the time. All you need are white Russet potatoes or Yukon golds, a medium-hot pan and a little bit of oil, some salt and pepper and a nice spatula for flipping. Grate the potato right before the pan and oil are ready to keep the potato from turning colors, drop the potato directly onto the pan in a high stack, you should hear an instant sizzle. Use the spatula to flatten the stack into a round disk. Use the edge of the spatula to encourage the process along. I find the more compressed I make it, the easier it will be to flip when the time comes. Salt and pepper to taste. The next step is to wait until the side has become a nice deep golden brown color. This can only happen if your pan has enough oil, but bear in mind you are not deep frying this potato. Do not disturb until this color has occurred or the hash brown will fall apart when flipping. When it is deep golden brown, run your spatula under the whole hash brown, to loosen it and then flip the hash brown quickly. Add more oil if necessary to brown the second side. You may need to turn the heat down a bit to ensure the potato is cooked all the way inside by the time it is brown on the second side, but you should still hear a sizzle. Salt and pepper the hash brown again if desired. Remove from the pan when second side is golden brown. Your hash brown will be crispy and crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Serve hot with ketchup or eggs. This is a classic home-style American breakfast and my family loves it.

Thank you for the feedback. I by no means market it as a home style recipe. Rather I call it a restaurant recipe, cause I have made it the way I had it in a fast food outlet, which sells hash browns in breakfast.
Your recipe sounds interesting too, much similar to my potato roesti recipe, just that no flour is added in your recipe.

@@CookingshookingIn Specifically "Fast Food Restaurant style." There are "sit down" restaurants and then there are fast food chains where people often use a drive thru to get a bite to eat that's cheap and quick without even leaving their car. Fast food chains sacrifice quality to save time and money to ensure the food is served quickly and economically. This sacrifice is certainly not ideal, but acceptable to many when in a pinch. The result of cutting corners to save time and money are these frozen potato cake things imitating hash browns. Usually we just accept these as a fact of life on the go, but don't seek it out if it can be avoided. I have never seen so much effort to imitate a fast food restaurant before, especially when the real item is so much easier to produce.

North American restaurants don't make this crispy...your's looks very dry...it should be little moist in the inside and crispy on the outside.

The best part was hearing the crunchyness 🥔❤️....

Everything is good but i strongly feel they became bit over crunchy. I would be more than happy if they came out how they should, bit crunchy outside but preserve the freshness n softness inside. Like in McD.

All the nutritional starch is lost out this way by washing too many times.of course many methods to do a same thing. Why can't we parboil the potatoes, grate it mix it with corn starch / rice flour dry them and fry them.
This is the same recipe with which smileys were made by you? Other than shape and texture everything remains the same. What' a Your views/ take on the this.
Naman you are a Great Chef.
Another way is parboil the potatoes, slice them dust them with corn flour and add the required spice ,cool them and fry them.try it.
