Thank you! In many cases I am just biased towards percussion that’s not the drumset. That being said, to call it “auxiliary” often refers to supplemental, supporting, or “minor” percussion. Depending on the arrangement this may be the case however in many songs the “auxiliary” percussion parts may be the tone and rhythmic elements that distinguish/characterize the song. When this happens I am not always convinced them that it’s auxiliary… especially if without it the song loses some of it’s pulse or character. I am also not sure it always is the most respectful title for the one performing it.
Hmmm I shall consider that. Thanks for watching! I have an email newsletter going out this Friday with a few free sounds and exclusive videos. Let me know if you are interested in signing up for it.
So, I need to play a bunch of fast sixteenth notes (165bpm) on the cabasa for my high school band. What technique should I use? I've never played cabasa before.
Great question. That is something you want to work out with your band director, however I did do a response with some suggestions. I hope it helps. I tagged you in the description
Part after you say "other than just" that's all I want demo'd (that's what you hear on most popular records) but literally every youtube video is doin' all that other crazy shit with the cabasa.
Probably my favorite percussion instrument. Adds so much feel to the beat.
recorded, sampled, making music now, thank you man

Just came across this instrument and this video was perfect to let me known what can be done. Love it, thank you.

Fantastic demonstration. Out of curiosity, what’s the reason you don’t prefer those terms to describe some percussion instruments?
