“How did Johnson escape the Flood?” Very badassly.
@@Commander_Appo with two sticks and a rock. And he had to share the rock.
@@silaswilson8122 for a whole platoon
"Oh I know what the lady Flood likes..."
Was he still hugging that Elite when they found him?
@@GusVIIInah. They married Moments before they found them
Like I said on a HiddenXperia video, the Infection Form(s) that attacked Johnson just immediately *knew better* and rethought its 100 millennia of poor life decisions. 🤣🤣
Oorah!!! Badassery at its finest!
It was because an augmentation that Johnson himself only got from the Spartan-1 project involved
Chuck Norris's DNA.
"Dear humanity, we regret being [Lovecraftian] bastards."
Johnson was immune to the flood because of all the rock n roll he listened to. The other marines should have learned to appreciate the "old stuff".
that and the theory that Spartan 1 gene therapy rendered his DNA unchangeable
@@ImprovmanZero the Orion project it spartan 1 program pretty much changed his nervous system and made it harder for the flood to infect him
Lore: The orion project's specific enhancements allowed him to-
Flood: Ew, he smokes. Bleh.
(Reading first strike right now, absolutely love it)
my fave halo book tho the new ones are pretty goof too (oblivion, silent storm) prolly gonna read ghosts of reach when i travel
LMAO i love the idea of the Flood reacting line that to him being a smoker 😂
And he could do it again! With only two sticks and a rock! OORAH
luckily this time he wouldn't have to share the rock
Even if he had to share the rock.
Simple his Big Green Style could not be defeated
The Flood: we have you surrounded!
Johnson: Great! Now, you can't get away!
How did he escape? Because he knows what the ladies like.
He did not escape. It escaped him.
Oorah
Since you're covering spooky stories, there's no way the Mona Lisa gets left out. Can't wait to see what you do with that one in particular.
Seconded!
This scene hits a lot harder, when you realize that Jenkins is the very same Jenkins from Harvest, who survived first contact with the Covenant and basically made it all the way to the end of the war, only to die here at the ring, to an entirely new enemy.
And that when he was infected, the infection form was defective, so he retained some level of consciousness and control, forced to watch and comprehend himself killing his comrades
Can we address the fact that Jenkins was still a private even though he had been fighting the covenant since Harvest? UNSC did our boy dirty.
That's a real Marine… As stipulated by Chesty Puller. Jenkins has probably gotten himself in trouble a couple of times since then.
@@Seraphim_Belisariushe probably made it to Lance Corporal about 3-4 times. Don’t drink and drive… or try to marry the girls from Tobies lol
Yeah, probably got demoted a couple times, also might be the reason he got assigned to the PoA, they needed tough sobs and he was one of them. But nobody quote me idk if it's lore or not.
It's possible that Johnson and his platoon that he was with on Harvest could have spent long periods of time in cyrosleep, if they werent immediately needed for combat.
@@thatAC130 Johnson was a SSGT (E-6) in Harvest. Johnson is/was an SGTMAJ (E-9) during this time.
Jenkins was a Private for the ENTIRE WAR??????? How did poor dude never get promoted in 27 years?🤣
He used his massive British Broadcasting Corporation as a melee weapon
For gods sake..
😭
Even if Johnson is without a gun or combat knife, he's never truly 'unarmed.' 😆
It's because of what he told the Master Chief at the beginning of First Strike. He's 100% Grade-A Marine badass, and nothing less.
2:22 you forgot about Dustin Echoes
So Johnson pretty much played the "343 Guilty Spark" campaign mission?
7:55 The music kicked in & my anxiety level spiked up.
I was under the impression that the Infection form that got Jenkins was unable to fully take control because it was extremely old. I guess either way Johnson shooting it didn't help much.
That's what First Strike said, idk if the comic is canon or not.
Flexes so hard the blood pressure pops em
The Flood has gotta be one of the best cosmic eldritch entities ever conceived.
He still had his cigar buff active. 👍
"We exist together now... two corpses in one grave..."
Halo should release a DLC Called "the Johnson Diaries" and have missions from various points in his life from the insurrection, early covenant war and this section here, how he got off the ring etc and the ending be a cutscene of when Chief pulls him up into the longsword after alpha halo
OHHHH that would go so hard!!
When I read the title “it’s because it’s Johnson” was my first statement.
So in a way, Johnson saved the galaxy from the Flood by unknowingly sending a partially conscious Human into their hivemind, who then disrupted their plans to escape Halo on the Truth and Reconciliation
There’s actually a resident evil fan game animation in how Johnson escapes the flood it’s really cool
It's more like how did the Flood survive Sergeant Johnson 😂
7:45
He drew the halo CE magnum, that's how he made it out, mystery solved
Because he’s Sergeant Johnson…enough said
I still love that they made an achievement for beating his escape time.
I love stories wherewords atent even needed. Comics like this, environmental storytelling, quiet clever scenes in shows and movies. I also like that the artist was able to show by expression alone that johnson realizes the flood is intelligent when it turned off the bridge.
I love how keyes never changed out of his stinky Captains uniform.
It's been a while since I read the books, but I could've sworn that it's stated that Johnson was hit by infection forms, but they couldn't infect him. Halsey speculated that it was due to a neurological illness that Johnson sustained in battle, scrambling his nervous system, but the illness was an ONI cover-up for Johnson being an Orion. Somehow, the augmentations made him immune to the Flood infection. Can anyone correct me if I'm wrong?
If I'm right, though, it appears that ONI accidentally developed an immunity to the Flood, something that neither the Forerunners or ancient humans ever figured out.
Eh, more so it wouldn't see him as a more viable target to infect compared to others. Basically he 'didn't taste as good' to the Flood compared to all the other guys. That being said, given the very real risks to a person's health and mental wellbeing said augmentations tended to give to most, with Johnson being rather lucky in that regard, well, let's just say it isn't as much of a 'cure' as it might first seem I suppose. That and he can still be infected if he were dead for example, just be harder to take him while he's alive more than anything. But yeah, it basically scrambled his nervous system to such an extent the Infection Form couldn't get a solid 'lock' to take over, seeing this, it didn't try to waste effort on a less useful specimen when others are easier to infect.
Johnson is a Spartan 1. That's how
Flood: "We have you now..."
Johnson: "I know what the ladies like!"
Flood: "Nevermind, you're free to go"
Gets me thinking the next Halo game needs A flamethrower.
5:17 doesn’t this differ from other lore that somewhat explained that the infection form was weak from thousands of years in hibernation?
God D*MN IT Jenkins, UPVOTE THIS VIDEO!!
Halo + manga art style = bliss. I remember this was always my favorite comic from the halo graphic novel as a kid. I remember always thinking it was common knowledge how Johnson escaped haha so nostalgic
He was focused on creating the Boren syndrome, no time to die 🗣️
Straight giga chad
The combat form on the other side of the door put the code in and opened the door
Under Johnsons mustache there isn't a lip, just another fist!!! 👊
If they’re going to remake halo ce, instead of changing anything story wise from the original game, I’d really appreciate being able play from other major characters point of view. Being able to play from keys, Johnson, fireteam raven, and Jenkins pre and post infection would be really cool
Playing as infected Jenkins would be horrifying omfg 😭
So that's how the old man got off Alpha Halo. Hehe, just as badass as I was imagining it to be.
that explains a good amount of Johnson's escape, along with same Nightmare fueled biomass that's the Flood. great work as always, bud.
Dedicated Johnson series!!!
I'm not saying it was editorial fiat, but it was editorial fiat.
As much as I love Halo, I hate to say it... but there are a ton of plot holes in the campaigns, stories/books and other Halo lore. One of which would be the topic at hand here in the video, in that from everything I've heard, Halo CE is basically like Star Wars IV in that it was meant to be an entire story from beginning to end all by itself. With both Halo CE and Star Wars IV, at the time they were released, there wasn't any certainty that they would be popular and that they would have a sequel or more than one game. In interviews with both George Lucas and the crew of Bungie, they planned it that way in the event that there wasn't going to be any sequels. So, they came up with an all inclusive story from beginning, middle and end that told an entire story all the way through. It wasn't until both Halo CE/SW IV were released and the popularity went through the roof to where they finally came out with sequels to each. Which would bring me to my point in that, I don't think Johnson's story was ever meant to be continued until Halo 2 came out, and then they honestly just gave him some plot armor, a quick story that doesn't really talk about anything specific, and then he just shows up again. It's been talked about for decades as to how he survived, anything from his "augmentations" as a Spartan I soldier to him having I believe it's Boren's syndrome, him just being a bada$$ or lucky, etc.
At the end of the day, I honestly just think that Bungie wanted to continue to include him in their games because he is an awesome character, so they left the majority of the story out and so that those playing the games could come up with their own ideas or interpretations. While I don't mind this approach, nothing is really ever proven one way or the other with his story and I'm sure it will continue to be argued or debated for decades more at this point. Other things that don't make sense about Halo CE, especially in regards to the Flood being released would be how exactly they were released. Ok, so you've got the Flood contained inside of the Forerunner structure in the level 343 Guilty Spark but the only thing keeping them there is a single door? On top of that, why would Captain Keyes of all people, who was just rescued btw and is also the number one person in command of all human activity on the ring, be the one to go on the mission to the "weapons cache"? Any leader with half a brain would've sent the Master Chief, Sgt Johnson and his squad or any of Silva's ODST's to do the mission instead.
Might as well cover every bit of Halo lore, both big and small. We love it all
You should definitely continue the story of Johnson’s escape into first strike. It would be nice to have the complete picture of his escape with your commentary.
If Jhonson had been infected the primordial would lose control over the Flood and the Gravemind would now be Jhonson
Incredible how the Sergeant survived, but could you make a video detailing the characteristics of the Wraith? It would be amazing
According to the Cursed Again mod by Inferno Plus, Johson also helped MC zoom through the Library on CE.
my understanding is that master chief just ebcounters so many marines that they all become essential archetypes filling roles as needed lol
He yelled at the flood to stand down he knows what the lady's like and they did
I have wondered the same thing for years thank you
In the novel Halo:Flood. We could see Chief almost loosing his cool but somehow holding himself up. Chief was legit terrified and was very tired by the end of the library
Correct me if I’m mistaken. In one of the books post Installation 04, Master Chief met up with Dr Hasley and he gave her the Jenkins video and brought up Sgt Johnson surviving. Then later in the book Dr. Hasley brought up Johnson’s medical records and explained why the Flood didn’t take over Sgt Johnson. It’s cause Johnson has Baron Disease from being exposed to plasma grenades. He found a crate of them during some battle and the report said he used every single one. Baron disease causes brain deterioration in the neural pathways which is felt through headaches and migraines. The flood ignored him because of his brain damage. The disease is treatable but he refused the treatment. He still had dead flood spores in his blood which gave him some sort of minor regeneration ability.
Uw; How did Johnson escape the flood?
Colonel Vargas, while grinning; "violently"
I'd be down with seeing you cover the events of Halo First Strike, it was one of the first Halo books I read back in high school and I absolutely loved it.
Yeah we need a full story of Johnson on the ring and into H2
Just like how they made a halo 3 ODST, they can make a halo game where you play as Johnson starting from that point of first contact of the flood leading up to the destruction of the Unyielding hierophant and covenant fleet.
I would love one of or both of these two things:
1. If they remake halo 1. I would love a Duel campaign like in halo 2 or a DLC where you play as private Johnson especially it taking place during which they come across the flood and you play through to his escape of the ring.
2. A halo flood survival horror game.
I would love for you to cover Johnson's story in first strike
I'd recommend HiddenXperia
Halo fans: give us a johnson horror game! More odsts! More halo prequels!
Halo studios: how about... Halo CE remastered remake?
It’s classified
What i want to know is were they found the pelican the autumn only had 12 and most had been destroyed by that point
Well through campaign you can find 4 crashed pelicans and foe hammers pelican, so there’s max 7 out there somewhere, but who knows if the others got shot down leaving the autumn or downed during unseen battles, but there is still a chance they could have repaired a downed pelican
It was ONI stationed on the Autumns Pelican.
He survived one sticks and stones, and he had to share the stick.
Love the spooky season topics 🎃
Haha I was waiting for Halloween halo vids from you!! Thanks for the great vids
Doing that Halo First Strike video would be amazing. But I still think that Johnson playing squeezey squeeze with an Elite is canon.
Now that was a Graphic novel, it was intense of trilling action.
He receive the ability to use Chakra and used Teleportation Ninjutsu.
There needs to be a game in which Johnson is the main character and how he escapes from the flood
Halo really lost the spooky vibe after halo 3 😭
*Short Answer:* Sgt. Major Avery Johnson was a Spartan-I candidate for an augmented super soldier project known as Project Orion.
His slightly enhanced augmentations had a significant factor in aiding him by having total immunity to The Flood.
Wouldn't the general vaccine for the flood kinda like ancient humanity did would be to fundamentally override the nervous system which significantly blocks flood supercell infection. Whether through infection form, airborne, or general physical contact. The nervous system is the key part of total infection
@@madness0169 I thought it was cause he used alot of plasma grenades in closer rang and something got mutated. Am I wrong ?
@@yeredgonzalez9080 Nah, that was the cover story given to any medical officers who notice his nervous system being all weird regarding any biometric readings from it. That way if any medical personnel tried to look into it. They'd only find the claim of him suffering from a bunch of plasma grenades affecting him due to being so close in proximity when they went off. Basically, it's a fake medical condition to hide the fact he was an ORION member, or a SPARTAN 1 in other words. ONI wouldn't want anyone else finding out about it, though Cortana and Halsey would learn about it, but keep it secret as revealing it would mean he'd be dead due to them dissecting him to try and figure out how that happened.
ik this game is old so not judging it but man is that scene where the marine grabs the spore off the other guy, and it looks like he starts hugging it funny af
johnson survived a close up explosion of plasma grenades early on in his career that bathed him in a massive dose of their radiation, this made him immune to infection forms. this discovery was massive as it meant there might be some kind of immunity in his genes, but we never learn more.
I was hoping this was the video about the leg for project MJOLNIR, wish Sargent johnson was still alive
Thought I clicked on a hidden experia video the thumbnails are very similar watch both channels top quality content.
By being a certified hood classic
Please cover First Strike. It’s such a great story. Also please cover more of the Forerunner trilogy and Epitaph. Those are fantastic too.
A better question is how he escaped the ring at all with a Sangheli copping a feel.
I miss Johnson so much 😭 Post Bungie Halo has been so full without him 😅
🎶 "Spooky, scary, Proto-minds send shivers down Keyes' spine" 🎶 🎃 🧠💀
Please cover First Strike! It's a fantastic book.
You didn’t know? Simple, it was was the smoke from his sweet Williams cigar
Huh, I heard Tsutomi Nihei and I thought it was familiar, he made Knights of Sidonia as well! I thought is was a really good show
I think a good seires you would get alot of traction on (i think) is an overview or summary of each of the books
Agreed, he could go into detail how they tie into the games. For example the covenant space battle around high charity in ghosts of Onyx or the great schism from the POV of the prophet of clarity as seen in halo broken circle. Im surprised nearly no one covers these stories, even operation torpedo hasnt been covered besides a halo follower video
@falloutgamer347 I've read all the books and there amazing. He would probably also get alot of traffic if he just read the books and posted it on here
@@fallupside he would, it would also mean more people who know about these stories, they are genuinely good stories and 90% of fans dont even know about them. Its a shame. I havent read all of the books yet myself but i have been reading trough them in last couple years. According to a list i use to keep track of which ones i have im around 70% done with them, most notable books would be the forerunner trilogy and kilo five trilogy which im planning on starting next year after i finish my current books
@falloutgamer347 i loved the books that focused on the covenant. I loved seeing and figuring out more about them. I love halo lore and the books have so much. They could make countless games based on the books. Imagine a halo game where you are playing as one of the unarmored spartans eary on before the covenant, fighting the rebels on the big astroid they hid on or where your chief hunting down a prelot
@@fallupside That would be so dope. If i could choose any of the books to be made into a game it would be first strike, my second option would be the flood and that might happen with the rumoured CE remake if they decide to include things like ODSTs, Zuka Zamamee, Yayap or even alpha base in it. Would be cool if we got new missions in between the old ones where we play as Zuka when he is assaulting alpha base or as lieutenant Mckay during the boarding of the truth and reconciliation. Thats a pipe dream though, i highly doubt we will get something like that
Johnson is halos Chuck Norris. He didnt escape the flood, the flood escaped HIM
I would actually like it if you did an overview esk video of the books. I've read a bunch but not all of them. And a can't afford to buy all of them.
Hold on, JENKINS WAS THERE SINCE THE START OF THE WAR AND HE WAS STILL ONLY A PRIVATE WHEN HE DIED?!?!?!
What in the hell?!?! A 30 year Private?!?!
How’d Johnson escape?
It was his turn with the rock.
Better question: how did the Flood escape Johnson
Look up NotPipi, he covered this and a few others like sgt mobutos story on how he got to where he was in the book and the human covenant truce in the bowels of the mission 343 guilty spark. He made them by using blender. I truly enjoy his videos
Johnson didn't get infected by the flood.. the flood got infected by Johnson.. the Halo universe Chuck Norris 😂
Honestly? The Flood probably tried sinking their teeth into him and lost their appetite.
I always just assumed he couldn't get infected because of his genetic augments making him either incompatible or undesirable to the flood.
