Right on bro, I love that you’re brave enough to crack open a top of the line $260.00 transmitter like nothing and the innovation to make a WiFi booster work! That’s the stuff right there bro! You the top dog as far as I’m concerned, you been electronically breaking the boundaries and creating greatness with your rc’s. Thank you so much for sharing, you won’t find that a whole lot out there but me as a fairly new driver appreciates everything you do share my bro! Again thank you and right on💯🔥🔥🔥👊🏻💥
Great video. I just built the same setup in your video. I can't believe how far my car goes. It went so far i had to get my glasses, and it still kept going. Thanks for helping me.
So I used a U.FL to SMA Female and put a port on the side of my DX5C. I use it for alot of different RCs, so when not speed running, I can put a regular antenna where the booster plugs in and gain a little better signal strength overall. So far it's doing great.
Thanks - great video. I did a similar mod and all went well, however learned the hard way (burnt RF board inside my 4PV) due to having Tx on for a few minutes without the booster powered. Result is nothing to dissipate the RF energy into aside from the RF module itself inside the Tx. The booster (at least the one I used) does not absorb/dissipate the RF energy from the Tx unless it is powered.
This is common knowledge to drone pilots that used to mod their radios. Whenever you have the antenna unplugged or unsoldered, you CANNOT power on the main board or you will end up cooking the RF gear, more like the amplifier really. By you having the booster off, it was like having the antenna unplugged at the internal RF module. However, some systems can detect when an antenna or module, like in the case of the Taranis internal module, is not connected and prevents the gear from burning up. The safest thing to do, unless you know exactly what the external module is capable of, is always power on the radio AFTER powering your external booster in the cases like tye one in this video.
@@roberttruesdell6151 Spend time doing a little research as to why guys performing the "Taranis X9D extended range" mod were burning up their radios. Here's a hint, they were powering on the radio without the antenna on. It all depends if the radio has built in protection to avoid burning the radio board. Most radios don't.
xXG.L.HXx I thought you were talking about the drone itself. Never heard of anyone modifying the actual radio. We just use Crossfire. No need for anything else.
I can’t find the booster on eBay. I have the FUTABA radio. I can find the adapter, but when I hit the link to the booster it says “page is lost”. I’ve tried several times………….found it! Never would have attempted doing it until I watched your video. THANKS!
I have the 4PV and the range is the least of all the radios I've had. Although it's the most expensive. I've had a Traxxsas 2.4ghz, Skyfly fs gt5(really good radio for the price),Dumbo rc x6.The best range was the Dumbo rc x6 and it was the least expensive but the radio had some glitches my car would just max out at full speed at times even when I didn't do anything.
Thanks for the info Bro... I have the exact same remote but I’ve been waiting on my booster now for like two months I didn’t get that one that you have but one very similar…it’s the fpv 2.4G 2w 2000mw...hopefully it’s compatible...
Yeah man I feel your pain, I got this booster last week ordered 2 months ago. It's crazy. All you need is to look inside on the board to see if it's compatible
Thank you! Great video, Im new to the 4pm (still in the box) would you recommend the booster for folks not passing 130? I own the gt5 and range is ok but i dont want to take any chances with these speed runs
yyyeeaaaa so about the battery. how are we suppose to know what cell count to use? what happens when the voltage drops to low and when does that happen? are you just supposed to go out with a fresh battery every time and hope it doesnt drop down to low? seems like some very crucial info left out
Hey, do you know if you gotta match dbi with other things your connection to idk what I’m really asking but there’s 2+^ dbi antennas can you mix and match??
Thanks for the video. I bought this radio because the range is better than my DX5R. My question is do we as speed runners really need an extender or is it more just peace of mind. I seen a guy on face book go 150 mph with a TQI radio and the 4pm is ten times that radio.
For me a range booster eliminates glitches that could occur. If everything goes right yes 150 is possible with a regular remote. But I'm not going off of other people and what they achieved, it all depends on location. My new spot to run I always had radio glitches. So this eliminated it. Going to be testing higher cells soon as well. 3s and 4s were only to hold off until this booster came
@@InnovationRC Ahh, yes glitches haven't had those in a while and i am looking for new run spots, so eventually i will need to come back to this video. Thanks
Fantastic video mate.. just one question how did you connet the booster to the power switch or does it have a seperate switch from the remote control switch ? So simple yet effective. My t4pm sucka on speed run signal 😒 10 out of 10 video bro
The charger it comes with is what you need. The power port goes to booster, then cut the charger cord with decent length, solder any connector to go to a power source (3s lipo).
Mate thanks for the video and explanation, really helpful to a lot of people. Did you ever have range issues before this mod with that controller? Thanks again, hope the weather clears up a bit for you soon mate. Cheers
I appreciate it man. Yes I had decent amounts of range codes being thrown from the esc because this new road I go to is 3x as long. So I always over stepped my range capabilities. So far no issues since
@@InnovationRC hmmm range codes? XLX or mmx8s? Did that just display in the log? Also how long is is your new road? I get 300m range with stock 4pv no problem, only occasional glitch so I might do this mod anyway. Thanks in advance mate! Ps: sorry for zillions of questions haha

Glad the video helped! I appreciate your comment!
Yup I was actually straining my eyes before I could lose range!
I got all the components you used. I already use the FUTABA 4PM for my RCs. I am rewatching your video before getting started. Great help, thanks!

Good to know, although I always unplug the booster battery when I'm done using it. Will consider the thought

xXG.L.HXx that’s the VTX that must have the antenna on or will fry. The transmitter and receivers don’t care.

The best range are radiolink rc6gs v2.0 600meter + stock!

great good presentation 👍👍

Range before and after?
What about the receiver? Anything can be done to boost the signal as well? Thanks
Have you tested this yet? I bought the 2W booster and they are known to get hot. Wondering if this 4W version has the same issue?

So far this 4w got warm. Nothing hot to the touch yet

Does this booster draw a lot of power? And what Mah rating would you recommend?
Not really much. I run an 850mah 3s

Happy to hear its good! Booster gets warm but I run 3s, it's capable of 3s HV or 4s but it will surely get hotter.

Because I drive further than 300m 😉 no worries on the questions man don't sweat it. Feel free to ask
How much does the telemetry reception change?
I don't run telemetry, my eyes are on the car when I drive not the remote 😉
What mah, voltage and c value is the battery that your using to power the booster? Thanks
Does anyone have a new link for the booster?
Nice!! Definitely need one of these. Sold out on eBay link. 😔
Can i use that radio with my spektrum telemetry receivers?
No they won't be compatible unfortunately
Hi, can we put this booster, to any remote control?
what size battery are you powering the booster with 2s or 3s

Yessir it can. But it won't be as power as using a 3s pack

Where do I get the amplifier?
Can you do this to the spektrum dx5r pro??
Is it compatibil with traxxas tq1 remote
