I got paid to backline/roadie for his band F5 in the early 2000s before he made amends with MegaDave and he definitely wants to appeal to the radio/arena rock crowd. Lots of cheesy sing songy choruses, generic guitar solos, Each guitarist bringing 2 full stacks and literally not using any of them...all the stereotypes were checked. After listening to his new track i'm not suprised at all at what it is. To his defense he was super cool to me and my room mate who were working for them.
I'm glad you had a great time with him. I've heard from others that he's a really nice guy, you confirmed it even more by having worked with him directly. Man, although I'm surprised to hear that he's into a more radio friendly vibe, this new band is exactly what you described. You are the man, Chris, and thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with F5!
I would've snagged a bunch of Megadeth's past musicians and called the band "Proven Bigger Dick Than Mustaine"
Hahahaha!!!! Yes!!!!! Omg, that would have been amazing! And they would make a killing on tour!
Marty Friedman that left Megadeth due to the solo not being used...!
For the life of me, I forgot Marty's name! Hahaha!
yish....if I wanna hear Whitesnake I'll go cue up Slide It In....
Hahahaha!!!!!
“That’s what she said” - David Ellefson
Same video (and music?) production team as Rebecca Black's "Friday"?
Hahahahahaha! Remember that song!!!!!! Lmfao!
The music wasn't like the worst thing in the whole world. It sounded like a WWE wrestler's intro music or some shit but that video was total corn balls.
I get where you're coming from with Ellefson going a heavier more technical direction but he's a bassist. He's only as strong as the musicians around him and those guys just happened to be the first group he hooked up with and I'm kind of glad he's doing "something" instead of staying idle. Who knows, maybe he'll get another band going but for now I think he's just having fun.
Yes bro, I totally agree with you. He actually joined Dieth for their last album which is heavy as heck but that's not his music. He was just the hired bassist and you nailed it with the bassist only being as strong as the artists around him.
I listened to it the second time WITHOUT watching the video, and it really helped. Ultimately the lyrics are so damn cheesy they sound like a beer commercial. This guy sang for Malmsteen?
Yeah, Malmsteen and the Trans Siberian Orchestra. I'm not sure why I expect so much from these older guitarists bc they literally grew up on different music than we did. We grew up with Megadeth but they grew up with Iron Butterfly.
@@louistorres christ on a cracker, I had to listen to Vacation in the Underworld to cleanse my palette 😂 Dammit Ellefson, why?
That song is weird lol. It is like a 80’s jam but mixed like a nu-metal record lol
Yes! Right!!
The bassist plays a 5-string bass (not common in rock). It all does seem like the "less is more" approach musically. The video displays them in a room/space just playing the song through. I have seen other bands from different record companies- doing the same thing. I thought about it- if I had to do a similar video I would.🎥📹🎶👍🏿
I don't think I'm fond of the green screen thing but they're actually each films separately then added together in post-production. That five string is actually his, Dave Ellefson's, signature bass with Jackson guitars, it's actually not a bad bass. A lot of these older guys, like Kirk Hammett, have projects that aren't nearly as heavy as the bands they were originally in.
Sorry for the somewhat subject change but I think I did alright in life but then I see all your gear and wish I chose a better career lol. Very nice collection man! 🤘🤘
Hahahaha! Bro, I bet you've done great in life. I'll trade all my amps with you to have two great kids. :')
Thanks for the heads up on the video 👍 was entertaining, felt like the 80's for a minute.
Dave really jibbed us off this time 😐
Vacation in the Underworld is a toasted cheese video. I want those flame throwers!
Yes lmao, ellefson should have done what mustaine did when he got kicked from metallica
Yeeeeeeeeees!!!!! I totally agree!
First video I seen of yours and all I'm thinking at first is finally a guitar channel that has ESPs. I imported a 7 string ESP custom Snapper with an EMG 81/85 set and it's fucking killer.
Heck yeah bro! I'm so glad you grabbed an ESP! Literally the best guitars, even my LTDs are incredible! I'm glad you found my channel, bro and thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! Welcome!!! :)
@@louistorres Definitely agree ESPs are number one! Appreciate the reply bro!
I literally turned that video off after about 20 seconds
You know, I get that it's probably the music he prefers, from a personal point of view. I mean, he's currently on tour at E/S right now but man, I hope he doesn't take offense to Megadeth fans not liking this existing music.
Ellefson did try to get a heavier band, check out his death metal band Dieth, it is not bad, but not good either. If you will watch the video you will probably laugh at the dumbass ending.
Dieth is great!!! He was the hired bassist, so I don't credit him.
@@louistorres but did you see that forced and retarded thing at the end of the video? 😂
Dave E has sued Megadeth in the past over royalties for bass tracks in the past, I think that is why Dave M would of got him off the record
The main claim of the lawsuit was that Dave Ellefson wanted to get the band name after Dave called it quits due to his nerve injury that left him unable to play for a while, which is dumb because he would have ran the band into the ground. The royalties nonsense was total nonsense that he added to strengthen his claim and even the judge said so.
No way, I didn't know that! Makes sense as to why he wanted the bass tracks removed. I feel like most would have done the same.
@@ValSchnitzel Wow! That's ballsy of him to try. Maybe he needed to get out of the band.
@@louistorres Ellefson apparently also have been making all kinds of snarky comments about Mustaine in his other bands and he found out about it. Ellefson should really be grateful that Mustaine even agreed to take him back.
@@louistorres Yeah, I think so. Mustaine really went above and beyond to reinclude Ellefson in Megadeth but got nothing but negativity and bad PR in return, the jerk of thing was simply the final mail in the coffin.
I have a feeling I’m not gonna like the 2nd song. Lol
Hahahaha! The second song is just as bad but I guess Dave Ellefson prefers more radio friendly songs, which makes.
