Thank you for this. Despite his many flaws, Ridley Scott is my all-time favorite director and I love the textured, vivid worlds he creates. I have often imagined an alternative history where he directed a live-action The Lord of the Rings film in the late 1980s. I think it would have been really cool.

To this day, I hope that Blood Meridian gets the adaption it deserves.

02:33 If there's any of these I would like to see an in-depth episode of, then it has to be "I Am Legend". From what's mentioned and shown in this video, that's the Ridley Scott movie I truly wish would have come to life.

Forgot about you Henry, but would still love to hear your take on The Modern Ocean, even though that Carruth dude is a piece! What have you been up to?

Ridley Scott almost made what became the David Lynch version of Dune in the early 1980s.
In 1979, immediately after the release of Alien, he was approached by Italian film producer Dino De Laurentiis, who held the rights to Dune, to direct a film adaptation. Scott was interested, but didn't progress far along on his vision because of the death of his older brother Frank from skin cancer in 1980. Scott took a hiatus from filmmaking, and when he decided to return, it was with Blade Runner, not Dune. De Laurentiis turned to David Lynch instead, and the rest is history.

I still wish Ridley Scott's I AM LEGEND had happened. I still want to see a Ridley Scott collaboration with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Keanu Reeves, Brendan Fraser, Jackie Chan and Julia Roberts.

Blood Meridian is a hard book to adapt, to be honest. It's darker, bloodier, and borderline nihilistic than No Country For Old Men or The Road. It would've been interesting to see what Ridley Scott would've done with the material, but I can't imagine the brutality on screen.
