The ability for military commanders to have dissenting veiws on military use apart from the civilian leadership is an important regulator of misuse of military power by said civilian leadership. Given how opaque their government and military is, I think this could be the truth. I mean, it’s possible that Xi is just paranoidly purging those he sees as a threat, but it’s also possible those near the top are sick of his agenda or are threatened by it.
The US has the most nuclear weapons but they are useless if they don't hit the target. China may have the largest army in terms of manpower, but how effective are those individuals? The problem was that the US kept Russia and China from engaging in actual combat. Like preventing a fighter from training. The PLA has a history of not having one successful large scale amphibious landing ever. Chris, before US makes any major committment such as military supplys to taiwan, they should first increase their production capacity first. US is not able to supply to Ukraine, Irael, and Taiwan simultaneously as far as I remember. There have been a lot of delays in Military contract with US allies such as Japan. So, yes CCP is having it's own problems, but to exploit it, US needs to plan a bit and not just be reactionary. Plus Taiwan has it's own problems, so I personally only support limited support to taiwan, let it be a bit reciprocal here.

We have a massive population with guns backing each other up, and it's clear that our military is already in a league of its own. And then you've got the other top 4 countries with the most guns per capita for brief comparison: the Falkland Islands with 62.1 guns per 100 people, Yemen with 52.8, New Caledonia with 42.5, and Serbia with 39.1. How is anyone even competition? For some perspective, China has about 0.3 guns per 100 people, and Russia has around 12.3 guns per 100 people. This just shows how the US is miles ahead in terms of military strength, firepower, and sheer number of guns. And let's not forget, a huge chunk of those guns are in civilian hands! Any invading army would face insane difficulty trying to take on a country so heavily armed and backed by such a strong military. Seriously, good luck with that! It's not even a contest.

One of the most powerful militaries? How is there even proof of that though? They have the numbers, but how do we know the power?
Well, we should be skeptical of any claims. Look at how Russia's military failed to live up to their reputation.
The US has the most nuclear weapons but they are useless if they don't hit the target.
China may have the largest army in terms of manpower, but how effective are those individuals?
The problem was that the US kept Russia and China from engaging in actual combat. Like preventing a fighter from training. China will get in one or two lucky punches but will eventually succumb to the one with experience fighting.

@@1stCallipostle Yes, I know there was a lot of speculation regarding the actual military capacity. The war in Ukraine has removed all doubt AND caused Russia's buyers of military equipment to reconsider, apparently. So this war is costly for Russia in so many ways.
@@fdm2155Russia thought it would blitzkrieg Ukraine and take land like in Moldova, Georgia etc because they had some history of gaining back Soviet territory. The PLA has a history of not having one successful large scale amphibious landing ever. Any landing that was successful like Hainan was swimming rafting distance, any landing like Kinmen (not within swimming/rafting distance) etc failed.

Chris, before US makes any major committment such as military supplys to taiwan, they should first increase their production capacity first. US is not able to supply to Ukraine, Irael, and Taiwan simultaneously as far as I remember. There have been a lot of delays in Military contract with US allies such as Japan. So, yes CCP is having it's own problems, but to exploit it, US needs to plan a bit and not just be reactionary.
Plus Taiwan has it's own problems, so I personally only support limited support to taiwan, let it be a bit reciprocal here.

Oh, come on! Look at the numbers! The United States has a guns per capita of 120.5 and over 120 guns per 100 people - that's off the charts compared to everyone else! We have a massive population with guns backing each other up, and it's clear that our military is already in a league of its own.
And then you've got the other top 4 countries with the most guns per capita for brief comparison: the Falkland Islands with 62.1 guns per 100 people, Yemen with 52.8, New Caledonia with 42.5, and Serbia with 39.1. How is anyone even competition?
For some perspective, China has about 0.3 guns per 100 people, and Russia has around 12.3 guns per 100 people. This just shows how the US is miles ahead in terms of military strength, firepower, and sheer number of guns. And let's not forget, a huge chunk of those guns are in civilian hands! Any invading army would face insane difficulty trying to take on a country so heavily armed and backed by such a strong military. Seriously, good luck with that! It's not even a contest.
