I agree 100%. My better half may not have PTSD yet, but I strongly believe he's boarder line there. Every single time one of those big ones go off, he damn near has jumped out of his skin, and goes pale white. Not only that, but his hear races a mile a minuet. Last year he was in the hospital for three days, and the lack of sleep because of the 4th. He said to me that he would rather spend the rest of his life not ever knowing what the 4th of July was even about, then deal with one of those big ones going off. One day he just might have a heart attack, and I am afraid that one day it just might happen.
Yep. You’d think people would grow out of things that go ‘Boom!’ I liked them as a kid but when I grew up, I realized how loud and annoying they are and what a disturbance they cause. I don’t watch them. They terrify my dog. What is so fascinating about colored explosions going off in the sky? Wouldn’t be that bad if people actually had respect around them but they shoot them off at all hours of the night. What do fireworks have to with the 4th of July?
i hate them too, but it is supposed to be a reminder of the artillery fire of the revolutionary war. you know....the rocket's red glare and the bombs bursting in air and all that.
Yes that's true, but to also scare the crap out of everyone else? I don't care for the big ones either, but the gun fire I hear every other night reminds me we are at war. That is with each other, which is good enough for me. So why add to the equation.....?
HELL yes, or ban the larger ones at least. My better half had a traumatic child hood, and can't stand anything that goes BOOM! He's fine with small fire crackers, jumping Jack's, and sparklers, but not anything that shoots in the air and goes Ka-BOOM! They need to ban out right of those big bottle rockets, or what ever you call them. Along with anything that pops like the commercial fireworks like at a festival.
Our firework laws are insane. Even Reader's Digest has our state on the wacky list in regards to fireworks, unlike WI and other states with more safe laws, who are on the sane list. We must change the laws. For once, I long for the good old days of Michigan when it was just firecrackers and public fireworks just on 4th of July.
the animals are upset, and i have birds complaining to me about the "hand grenades" every night, they are trying to go to sleep and the babies are getting distrubed and its wrecking the peace🙄
I think 11:00 pm is a good cut off time. The time isn't abused too much where I live, though there is occasional 1, 2, & 3 am. We have a lot of fireworks going on all around us, and not just in parks. Kids really love them but I wish they were contained more. What I keep in mind is the effects they have on pets, those with PTSD, and older/ people in ill health. Especially the ones with the loud BANG. They're the ones I have the most issue with. It is insane the fireworks anyone can buy though when many are set off by people that are drunk/ high. They don't think. I've been there, I know. People get injured. It's just real wicked in neighborhoods where the houses are on top of each other and the debris lands on the houses, cars, and yards.
Bleeding hearts…panty waists….and Nannies unite!! Let’s make life as miserable as possible for anyone having fun!! Call your politician and tell them to ban EVERYTHING!!! ….because fun is almost as dangerous as exciting!! Honestly, there needs to be some restrictions and off limits times, but it always amazes me how anytime anyone is having fun…..the crybabies crawl out from everywhere to whine and cry about everything that either is fun or exciting! Fun? Excitement? We can’t allow that now can we?
Who said to ban everything? Only the real big ones needed to be banned! Didn't you watch the news last year of reports of firework injuries yet, or are you too stupid to see it yet? As for the other mention, I will contact our leaders about that as well. One day you're gonna wish someone did something about it sooner, and didn't. I hope that us pantie waste, mama's boys or mama's girls or what ever you call it will put a stop to all of this noise. I hear enough in gun shots alone then hearing more of the same on the 4th of July. If you can't have fun without fireworks, then you live a very boring life!
