This was an awesome video Harli. No wonder you are one of my favorites. Great tip about the spagnum moss and soil, never knew that. I have been obsessed with removing all the spagnum from my propagation before I planted them in soil. Now I know it's not that serious, especially if I'm ruining the root system doing so.
@@EVTD79 PLEASE don’t use spaghnum or peat moss!!! They are essential for wetlands, which are critically endangered and responsible for a third of the world’s oxygen. The harvesting method for these plants is super harmful to the ecosystem and the moss takes hundreds of years to grow so it isn’t renewable. I strongly recommend using coco coir instead, it lacks some of the nutrients that the moss has but there are better ways to get that nutrients for your plant than destroying the planet!
I’ve just read through the comments and there are some people complaining about sponsorships. I just want to say that I think that’s out of line and that you should do what you need to do to make money! We get awesome, knowledgable content for FREE, so I’m happy to watch sponsorships to ensure you get paid for your labour! Thanks for being amazing!!
100% agree! How do people not understand that this is her job 🤦♀️ she literally does sponsorships to get paid. If any of those people complaining about sponsorships were doing the same job you just know they would eat their words and do sponsorships too! Get that money mamas!
I love videos like this where you film over several weeks or months and show progress! I'm sure they're probably exhausting so I just wanted you to know I really appreciate all the effort.
Just a tip: Pothos give off growth hormone and that's why they root so easily. You can put a pothos cutting with other cuttings to make them root faster than all on their own :)
Every plant puts out natural rooting hormones, that's why when I prop I use minimal water, just enough to cover the nodes, then I don't throw out the water, not until the rooting process is completed
Love the fact that this was filmed over the course of a couple months, I like to see the process! My strategy with props is to change the water every week or two and try to forget they exist. 😅
Harli I’m so grateful for you making all these in depth videos for us! Thank you. I think we can all thank you by supporting you when you get sponsorships, I can’t believe there are people expecting you to work for free. We don’t even have to pay, all we have to do is listen to you promote a product for a couple of minutes. Please keep taking sponsorships and supporting yourself!!! You deserve it
Wow i love plants propagation videos, I started my plants collection with a pothos leave the i found in the floor on my bosses house, didn’t even have the node, I got home place in water few days later I spot that was growing I got so excited 😂 now i have 3 very full and big Golden Pothos . That how I started my little jungle as my husband and kids called 😅❤️❤️
As a lifelong plant momma with literally thousands of plants, and do this stuff all the time I still enjoy these videos to see what I am missing out on. Harli does a Fantastic job and I truly enjoy her videos. And if I had time I would love to do them too! But I stay busy with so many plants keeping every plant watered, fed, repotted when needed and cuttings done to share with friends and Neighbors. Keep doing an awesome job sweet lady!!
Thanks for another great vid, Harli! I also have a tip with water propagation that surprisingly I haven't seen on UA-cam yet. I water propagate in my fish tank when I can, and I've never had any cutting root faster than when they're in there. I'm not kidding that i've has some of my pothos cuttings in there for a month or so and the roots have already taken over half the tank. The fish waste is food for the plants, and helps clean out the tank, too, so it's better for your fish! Just gotta make sure the leaves stay out of the water so they don't rot. Just thought I'd share!
I love water propagation, it gives me a sense of control over what’s going on with my plants 😂 pro tip: if they keep rotting in water, just change the water more frequently, at least for the first couple of days after cutting it
I love water propagating =) Its was my go to method of propagation 🥰 . Now my favorite method is using vermiculite to propagate my cuttings. So I treat vermiculite like ‘soil”. Place vermiculite in a well draining plastic pot. Something that has smaller holes so the vermiculite doesnt leak out from the bottom. Stick the cutting in vermiculite then water the cutting. I make sure that the vermiculite is evenly moistened with the water. Then I wait for the cutting to root =) I have found my cuttings have rooted faster. Sometimes I will even put the cutting thats in vermiculite inside a prop box just to promote even faster root growth. I only water the cutting again when I find that the vermiculite is drying up. I like this method because it evenly distributes moisture as well as air to the roots =)
I'm a new plant Mom (less than a year)😊 This is the first video of plant propagation that is actually informative. So happy to find you. You definitely have a new faithful follower ❤
Every year I used to cut all my great aunts bagonias before the winter came in california with my dad and we'd stick em straight in the mulched garden bed next to the plants they were cut from. The sprinkler system did just fine keeping them hydrating enough. We just poked a hole with a screwdriver and stuck the stem down a good 10 inches under with all the whole leaves intact and everything. No sanitizing, no rooting hormone. I was just amazed as a kid that it worked.
Harli! I’m a bit late to this video, but I wanted you to know how much I loved it! I admire you for working on videos like this that take so much planning and pre-thought. That effort doesn’t go unnoticed 🥰
I love seeing these propagation videos, it’s so satisfying to see those roots 💚 I recently used mycorrhizae with my ficus Audrey cutting and within 11 days of putting her in water she had enough roots to plant her! I’m using it for all of my cuttings now! 😍
These videos showing different projects from start to finish over a couple weeks or months time are SO helpful! I'm sure it's probably hard to hold off on putting good content out, but it's totally worth it in the long run!👍 thanks for taking the time to do this! I really do appreciate it!😊❤🌿
girl, no need to bash your self-made pots - the painted one is so cute! :O Love videos like this, filmed over a longer time, so we can really follow along :)
I was really happy when they reached out to me! I’ve followed them on ig for a while & was super interested in trying their stuff, just never went for it! Super happy I did now.
This video is just what I needed! THANK YOU! And thank you for making this thorough video explaining and showing the progress - awesome! I've already chopped half of my plants after watching this.. let's see how it goes.
My sister called me weird for watching a 37 minute video about plants in the middle of the night and was like why is that interesting it's just plants and I'm over here fascinated by watching roots grow and dreaming I could have all those plants
I really liked this video. I potted up some cuttings this morning using your sphagnum moss tip and I'm super excited to see how they do! It's a great idea and I think it will make a difference. I don't mind the sponsorships at all, I'd rather see you talk about something you enjoy (and make more from) than watch ads that UA-cam thinks I want to see (I don't) that don't benefit you as much or as directly. You're a delightful person with an interesting and informational channel, and I appreciate and admire you!!
Really wanted to say thank you for this video! I really appreciate it when the prop videos have updates, it really helps me understand and also soothes my impatience 😅
Yes I love this video!! Not many people dedicate this much time for one video. So thorough and so educating!!! I’ve been worries about propagating some plants like my begonias, and monsteras because I wasn’t sure how it worked. And I cannot wait to propagate my monstera now!
Hi Harli :-). You are wonderful and you produce high quality content. You deserve to be well compensated for your energy and effort. BTW, I happen to really love the sponsorships that you do take on. Keep up the awesome work! 😊 💕 🌈
Thank you for amazing video. I was about to loose my pink syngonium. I was potting it and realized there was no roots attached. 😳 the plant is not rotten. With confidence I brushed it of and put it in water right after watching your video.
This was so thorough! I very much appreciate the time you put into recording the whole process! So helpful!!! Thanks for all you do to help us become pro plant parents!
I love watching propagation videos! Thank you Harli for taking the time to make informational videos for your subscribers! I don't mind your sponsorships at all!
I waiting for my moss to come in and then I'm cutting all my plants🥰😂😂 I have golden pothos and spider plants water propagating and the new roots make me so happy!
Yes! Thank you for this video, my daughter is 10 and has really loved watching props grow roots and then become their own little baby plants but we have mostly stuck to pothos 😅
Thank you for sharing your technique from propigating to potting. Can you do a video of what plant you see likes what planter. I know some plants love a terracotta but some prefer a nursery pot. Love your videos and you are definitely the reason my jungle has grown so much.💗🌿
I'm very grateful to see you propagating your Ficus Audrey because mine isn't doing well and I'm thinking of propagating the good branches and I haven't seen that many folks with tips to propagate on that specific plant! I just found your channel and I love your videos.
I love coming back to these videos, you're always so patient explaining these things. I'm doing my first prop of my Monstera Adansonii and I'm coming back to you for some reassurance
I feel like some ficus propagate well in water because they naturally produce aerial roots. Banyan trees and balete trees produce vine-ish things that are actually very long aerial roots. Also, their main trunk looks like a bunch of thinner trunks wrapped around one another.
Ahhh your content is always great, and motivation to do my plant chores! Thank you so much for putting in all the effort you do because it shows and I appreciate it! Happy Mother’s Day, I hope you get to relax a little and do something fun☺️
I love these videos. Every time I watch your prop videos, I want to cut my plants! Also, I tried Liquidirt on your recommendation and it has made ALL the difference in props and plants! Thanks for an amazing video, Harli! Can’t wait to see the next _g_!
Love your videos, I’ve learned so much about plants and I care for them much better from having you to learn from! So thank you for doing what you love!! can you do a video on making your own moss poles and how you train your plant to go up them please!!
I loved this video! You inspired me to finally take cuttings from my syngonium:) it was really cool to see the root growth progression in one video of a variety of plants. thank you for putting in the effort/work to produce this kind of video!
Wow I seriously loved this video so much and also it was super helpful because I have a ton of plants that are rooted in water right now and I wasn't sure how to proceed. These videos where you show progress and film over time are SO cool! Love you 💖
Just realized that I have watched this already. 🤣 Thanks to chemo brain, I watch most of your videos multiple times! Congrats (quite late) on the new baby and I keep checking your website for your syngonium props for sale.
One of the most helpful videos I’ve seen.. it’s really sad when my propagations die after potting them in soil.. I will definitely try the sphagnum tip!!
Like your video's :) A little advice... Peace Lily's can live in water, that being said, I have mine with the pot sitting in a deep saucer & I keep that 2/3's full of water. So it never dries out. You have a lot of beautiful plants

Yes. I did this w/my pothos and my scindapsis. She gave me awesome roots.
Nice! Thank youuu
I've heard this in several other places too! I actually bought a Golden Pothos just to have to cut up for all propagations! IT WORKS!!!
Thanks for that. Plan to do that to my snake plant cutting today
Praying for that dramatic Peace Lily in the background of the introduction
It has perked up these days 😅
Love the fact that this was filmed over the course of a couple months, I like to see the process! My strategy with props is to change the water every week or two and try to forget they exist. 😅
It was my boyfriend's first plant related video and he watched it all the way through with me and really enjoyed it ☺️😍
Please do more videos with sponsorships. Your loyal friends are proud of you for having sponsors and we’re proud to watch and support your career! ❤️
Even if they’re ugly, be proud of them! I think the pots were really cute and unique.

Thank you so so much, this means a lot to me. You are seriously wonderful & made my day.

Thank you for the idea to wrap the roots in spagnum. That's a great idea!
the dedication that went in to this video!! 😍😍
Tomorrow I will be chopping all my plant’s!!! Is Harli’s fault 😜😅😂
Same lol I just did in 1 hour ago lol
Thanks for another great vid, Harli! I also have a tip with water propagation that surprisingly I haven't seen on UA-cam yet. I water propagate in my fish tank when I can, and I've never had any cutting root faster than when they're in there. I would be worried about poisoning the fish though.
With some of the more toxic plants?
If it's a safe plant, sounds like a great idea!
I love water propagation, it gives me a sense of control over what’s going on with my plants 😂
pro tip: if they keep rotting in water, just change the water more frequently, at least for the first couple of days after cutting it
I love when you said "but not the ficus!" (13:09) and patted it, like it was your kid who was different from their siblings, haha
Hope you know how appreciated these videos are ❤️
I’ve always had a little trouble with the transition from water to soil, but I’ll definitely be trying wrapping the roots in spag. Great idea!
My brother is a coffee SNOB so buying him mudwater sounds like it's right up his alley

I always use water from my fish tank for water props and it works like a charm. It’s not only great for watering but also for propping! ☺️
I love the longer videos from you !

Oooh Im glad MUD sponsored you, I’ve been interested in trying them and/or Lion’s mane for a while for that ~focus~
I was really happy when they reached out to me! I’ve followed them on ig for a while & was super interested in trying their stuff, just never went for it! Super happy I did now.
Honestly thank you SO MUCH for making this! People make propping seem so easy, but I’ve never been successful, and no one ever offers more tips.
This video is just what I needed! THANK YOU! And thank you for making this thorough video explaining and showing the progress - awesome! I've already chopped half of my plants after watching this.. let's see how it goes.
Dude, you wear those sweat pants!! Very excited to meet nugget 2.0.. thanks for your work on here, always a pleasure to see you on my feed!
Agreed! She’s so swag she does not even need anything but sweatpants haha😜
I LOVE propagating in LECA more than water because I feel like it goes faster. That extra support is also nice to have

Harli both the pot you made and the pot you painted are SO cute!💕
This timing is so perfect. I’m just getting ready to pot some water props I have today. I feel so much more confident now.
Not going to lie. A good idea would be publishing books on plant information! Love this channel:)
I always appreciate a refresher on water props!
I know this has nothing to do with the video but HOLY MOLY does your hair look noiceeee. Did you do anything specific to get those curls?
Thank you! I slept in 2 buns 😋 that’s why there’s a weird kink in the middle of my head haha
@@HarliG LOL honestly thought you curled it, stunning regardless!

I got a 36 pack of glass tubes off Amazon and I’m ready to wreak plant havoc!!!😈🔥
Thank you so much for making this video! This is the first of this kind that I have been able to find. Thank you!
If possible, I’d love a follow up on how they grew after being pot up! Sometimes that’s where it goes wrong for me lol. 🪴✨💕
Yes! Thank you for this video, my daughter is 10 and has really loved watching props grow roots and then become their own little baby plants but we have mostly stuck to pothos 😅
Skin is GLOWING
Such a great video! Love seeing the water props from start to finish!!
I miss this kind of content 👍 thank you for sharing your plant knowledge. I have been watching your videos for years.
Can't ever get enough prop videos! This one was awesome! Your best one IMO. 🤗
Wooohoooo for Harli Premieres!!

Thanks for the tip about wrapping the new water roots in sphagnum moss!
I love how your nail color changes throughout the process as well 😄

HARLI! Loving the long videos, keep them coming ily
It’s always a good day when you upload🥰

Just realized that I have watched this already. 🤣 Thanks to chemo brain, I watch most of your videos multiple times! Congrats (quite late) on the new baby and I keep checking your website for your syngonium props for sale.
I loved this video. I like all the updates and seeing it all one together from start to finish.
One of the most helpful videos I’ve seen.. it’s really sad when my propagations die after potting them in soil.. I will definitely try the sphagnum tip!!
Cool to know about mudwater not using plastic! 🌱✌
Harli, you could film in the dark and I would still love it hahaha
I loveee water propagation too....doing some currently.... can't wait to see the growth of the roots❤️❤️
Happy Friday indeed! Great job on the video Harli!
Like your video's :) A little advice... Peace Lily's can live in water, that being said, I have mine with the pot sitting in a deep saucer & I keep that 2/3's full of water. So it never dries out. You have a lot of beautiful plants
