    • @TD_JR
      @TD_JR 11 місяців тому +5

EMP effects are limited within the standard nuclear arsenal. Most detonations occur several thousand feet above ground to maximize the effect of the blast wave. EMP effects are local or regional depending on the weapon used. Of course, a continental barrage extends the effects... but, if EMP were the goal, detonations would occur several hundred miles above ground using specialized lower yield nukes that provide better EMP effects over a much larger area. I don't remember the yield, but it was relatively small compared to a lot of arsenals, but if something like a 300Kt nuke were detonated 480 miles above central US, it would take ouf the grid in about a dozen or more states.
... but, like I said... if it's a global launch, EMP is the last of anyone's worries.

The truth about the big H bombs of the 50s and 60s is that they were impractical in combat (they were made with slow heavy bombers that would be easily shot down in mind, so the theory was that the last few bombers could destroy all targets by themselves), with ICBMs, that is no longer an issue.
Also another main reason for their power was for propaganda (like a lot of impractical or ridiculous weapons).

And almost everyone in the world lives along the cost where the water is salted/scarce and the population density is high.

Where I live, it would be -76 degrees celsius, and most probably at this stage all major power plants are out. So no electricity. I don't think most people, myself included would last longer than a few days at half this temperature without power, and even with power, at -76 degrees celsius no-ones home or heating system is built for this.

As an AI language model, I can provide a general overview of a hypothetical nuclear war simulation between NATO and Russia. However, it is crucial to note that discussing or promoting violence, including nuclear war, is highly irresponsible and against OpenAI's use-case policy. This response aims to provide purely informative content without endorsing or encouraging any form of violence or conflict.
In a nuclear war simulation scenario between NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) and Russia, one must understand that the use of nuclear weapons would have catastrophic consequences for both sides and the entire world. Nuclear war is widely considered an existential threat due to its potential for causing widespread destruction and loss of life.
NATO is a collective defense alliance formed by North American and European countries, while Russia is a nuclear-armed nation with significant military capabilities. In any real-world conflict scenario, it is essential for nations to prioritize diplomatic negotiations, peaceful resolutions, and arms control agreements to avoid the devastating consequences of nuclear war.
Should a nuclear war simulation occur, it would involve highly advanced computer models and algorithms to simulate the potential outcomes of a nuclear exchange. These simulations would include various factors such as missile capabilities, defense systems, strategic targets, and possible countermeasures.
However, it is important to reiterate that the use of nuclear weapons should be avoided at all costs. The consequences of a nuclear war would be far-reaching and long-lasting, affecting not only the involved nations but also causing significant humanitarian, environmental, and economic impacts globally.
Promoting peace, dialogue, and cooperation among nations is crucial to prevent any potential conflicts from escalating into nuclear war. International organizations such as the United Nations play a vital role in fostering peaceful resolutions and promoting disarmament efforts to reduce the risk of such catastrophic events.

One of the scariest games I own is DEFCON. The fact it's just you playing a simulation of nuclear war is chilling. Because as long as nuclear weapons exist it's legitimately a possibility that "game" could happen. The end of matches is chilling to the bone, because whether you win or lose, it's just silence and the end screen results showing how many are dead and that there's nothing left.

Asside from the nations directly involded in the conflict, the areas most affected by the breakdown of the global economy + envormental effects would probably be Africa and the Middle East (due to the political instability and the lack fo food security). Oceania, South East Asia (if an US vs China don't happen) and South America would probably be the least affected. Ironically, South America would be the ideal place to be when considering food security and stability: the continent is relatively isolated from the rest of the world (so, mass migration refugies would be more difficult) and though the nuclear winter would affect how effective crops wield are, the continent would still be in the best position to produce food. Also, countries like Brazil and Argentina (which produce food in excess for export) would probably cancel/block the export of stored grains in order to ensure the supply for the internal market. The first year would be the most difficult due to lower temperatures, but most models point for temperatures to start rizing back to "normal" within a decade.

That's a good simulation, but there are some factors that you didn't show, but the affect the simulation:
    1. Russia is in a defensive alliance named ODKB(CSTO), whose members are Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Only Russia has the nuclear weapons, but all of the countries have strategical military objects, such as radars, satellite control centers, even a spaceport(Baikonur, Kazakhstan). So, these countries' military sites and major cities will be nuked as well.
    2. Nuclear fallout will result in much more casualties due to the nature of the radioactive dust. If inhaled or contacted with skin, it will start necrosis of any type of organic. And because this dust will be basically everywhere and the supply of protective clothing such as hazmat suits and gasmasks, medical supplies and essential goods is very limited, possible casualties will be enormous, probably hundreds of millions. And another fact, that these particles ionize two types of radiation at the same time, alpha- and beta-rays, which have different characteristics, will make our planet inhabitable in a very short time. Brief explanation:
Alpha-rays(actually particles emitted) have a very small amplitude range, which is counted in micrometers, and have very poor penetration capability. But the damage they cause is extra high. They should not be able to contact organics in any way, otherwise - relatively fast and very, VERY painful death.
Beta-rays(particles as well) have longer emitting range and better penetrating capability. These are the most dangerous of the all three types of radiation exposure. They can fly as far as 1 meter and penetrate most of the common clothing, also ionizing the surface they collide with, especially metals. Must not be contacted either.
Going with that, we can say that all the surface on Earth, as well as the ocean, will be ionizing radiation in such doses that no organic can live in. But it will vent off in some time, as dirt absorbes the fallout and alpha- and beta-particles will not be in range of their activity.
    3. Disruption of the global economy will lead into the arrival of the last horseman of the apocalypse - famine. People will die out of hunger and fight to death for a loaf of bread. Chaos, basically. Not to mention the local conflicts that will escalate because of this.
    4. Drastic undercut in medical supplies and consumer goods. More like an addition to the third factor, but let it be here.
    5. Water and air intoxication. Addition to number 2.
Not like I'm trying to bullshit your work, it's an amazing video, but I'm just adding a bit of salty criticism to your sweet video. Best of luck to you! Hoping you will make another video like that.

If we assume that the vast majority of the nukes used in a nuclear war are strategic nukes and not tactical nukes, radiation wouldn’t be the biggest concern. Tactical nukes are thermonuclear weapons that have a larger blast radius than its radiation radius. Also, the radioactivity of the fallout decreases very fast, so most people outside city centers would be mostly fine from radiation after a few weeks. The fallout would increase cancer rates and miscarriages, but it wouldn’t lead to acute radiation sickness after a short amount of time (assuming anyone is alive close enough to a city center or strategic target).

I don't agree with the scenario where bombs are dropped for 24 hours. The strategy is to release the whole stock as they will be lost when the bombs released by the enemy arrive. This phase would be no longer than 2 hours, taken in account submarines that would make retaliatory strikes as soon as possible.

Some of you have been asking me to clarify a few things about this video, so here are some answers:
1️⃣ Yes, the simulation takes into account defensive systems such as missile interceptors, that's why the US and NATO Allies don't get hit as badly as Russia.
2️⃣ The simulation is about a nuclear war between Russia and NATO, so China and other countries would not have compelling reasons to get involved.
3️⃣ The nuclear blasts are a little bit exaggerated to be more easily visible. That's the same reason why I didn't show the ballistic traces: just for a better visibility.
4️⃣ The amount of deaths may seem low, but keep in mind that this simulation goes barely a year into the war. Radiation effects could show years after exposure, so deaths at a later point in time could be much greater (in the billions).
5️⃣ Russia has only a handful of hypersonic missiles, so that would not give them the upper hand on the conflict.
6️⃣ And more importantly: this is a SIMULATION. It's incredibly difficult to predict an event with so many variables. The possible outcomes are infinite. However, this is the most likely scenario I managed to get from machine learning software. And as you can see: it literally predicted what we are seeing today (that Russia was most likely to begin an act of war that could end up in a nuclear conflict). Nevertheless, your opinions and takes on this video are important and I appreciate all your comments.

This is cool, great job, very entertaining. Could you give more information about the parameters you used? It seemed to me like you predicted extremely high interception rates and a low overall amount of launches. In addition, I struggle to make sense of temperatures between -45 and -90 in a belt containing about 4 billion people who are not used to such temperatures and have no real infrastructure to withstand it en masse only resulting in about 10% casualties.

    • @jzenhenko

lol ABM would not be nearly that effective even in the wildest dreams of the SDI... ABM technology is unreliable and still in a very early stage. Its laughable that AEGIS or THAAD would be that effective. As I mentioned in another comment Russian ICBM have huge throw weight and many decoys making the idea of this mass interception even worse. in reality the USA is going to be hammered and receive most of those ICBM. Russia has tons of IRBM, cruise missiles etc to hit Europe with. Grossly underestimating NATO casualties this is just so ridiculous lmfao

When you think about it, Nukes have kept us all safer for 80 years. The worst wars on earth happened before Nuclear bombs. Nukes so far have kept everyone from going to major wars with each other. You have smaller skirmishes, but no world wars so far.

    • @scorpixel1866
      @scorpixel1866 2 роки тому +20

Nukes are the only reason why we're not currently drafted for WW4 or 5, What is happening in Ukraine would have been the fate of Europe in the 60s in a world without those.
They're also the reason why the main dictatorial powers are still here, the questions are:
      -Who would win this war
      -Would there be others
In the best case scenario, as in "not them" and "no", would the death toll justify it? As of now nuclear holocaust deaths are still an if, the dead of war a reality.
I'd say yes, but this is only the best scenario, an unlikely one. Constant threat of mutual annihilation is the price for the closest thing our specie ever experienced of world peace.

    • @vexingrabbit1824
