My apologises for the lack of uploads guys and girls, not been good, not the best time of year for me. Anyone wondering what a 14" negative rake blade costs, cause I missed that out.. 150 shirt buttons!!! I hope you were all good and Santa showered you with boxers shorts socks and what ever equivalent ladies yearn for post 45 yrs old! And happy new year to you too X. Be-lucky!
Hi, Just come across your restoration and have to say what a brilliant job. I have the exact same machine as yours down to every last nut and bolt. I bought it in my early twenties and I am now retired so it has had over 40 years hard use in my workshop ( I am a joiner ) and I don't recall it ever breaking down in all that time.Even though I only tinker in my workshop now I would never sell it, in my view it is about the best saw ever, so solid with it being cast iron framed. Next to it I have a Dewalt mitre saw but unless it is small stock I would always use the Wadkin over the mitre saw. Looking forward to you doing other restorations.
Such an amazing transformation! That is a bang up job, brother! It was an enjoyable video production as well. Thanks for all of your hard work and time to share this piece. I know it isn't easy.
Served my apprenticeship at Wadkin, 1970/74. Then went onto the shop floor building the machines. Finished up as a Service Engineer looking after machines like yours all over UK and Europe. Great job you’ve done there.
Its from "Full Metal Jacket" Josh. Get some, get some, get some ! Anyone who runs is a VC, Anyone who stands still is a well disciplined VC!! Graet job btw, loved watching this one.
Good one, thanks Ben. Part of the pleasure of machining timber is hearing the timber being cut. You can tell instantly if the blade is sharp, what the finish is going to be, whether the cut depth is appropriate. When you have an induction motor humming this is possible, when you have a brushed motor screaming its guts out, this is not so easy. I have 2 radial arm saws in my workshop, one permanently has a dado stack fitted, not only for tenons but also many other applications. The climb cut with a dado stack is an experience. Hope you have a good 2025.
Thanks mate, nice of you to say! ☺️ I’m curious Martin, if you had the choice, the most expensive cross cut saws of note, ease of use, with actual dust collection etc or a RAS of your choice, what would you choose?
A mate like you have there is beyond priceless! Beautiful resto on that beast. Hopeful you will post it working. Welcome to 2025 Ben. Hope this year treats ye better. Take care & stay safe.
Cheers Doug! I will be sure to post a vid of it working. It’s gotta move to newer pastures though, much to my huge disappointment!!! 😔 hope you have a lovely weekend mate, till the next one, be lucky 🍻🍻🍻
love a good refurb job and this one was a really great one, it was your table saw refurb that bought me to your channel in the first place. btw changing the subject slightly, after 8 months of research and testing out sanders I have finally got the Metabo SXE 450 duo turbo. To say the least I am not disappointed and considering my budget was that of the Bosch GET 75 6N it only cost me £139.00 from D and M tools. I would like to thank you for the guidance you gave me in choosing it and I totally get why you didn't just say "buy xxxxxxx"
You’re welcome dude, I’d love to hear more about the sander you chose and why if you have the time dude? Maybe said in the Patreon group? Thanks for watching mate 🍻🍻🍻
@alexcollins9513 oh-boy Alex… to much, issues with paint, Josh making that handle was a whole day and it was on and off when we found we needed to replace parts or the likes. But two months for the whole thing to come to UA-cam mate.
That looks like a great saw. I am in the process of rebuilding an old DeWalt radial arm saw for my own shop. I look forward to watching what you do with it.
The dewalt saws that the guy on UA-cam has, he stutters can’t remember his name, gave up on home when every vid was cnc, used to do a load of stock animation in his vids, black glasses, bald head… man what’s his name 🤦🏻♂️ unfortunately I got home just now to see some shit financial issue so I’m about to put it up for sale unfortunately 😔 I don’t have any choice.
Wow it came out looking brand new. I bet it took you good amount of time getting to look like that too. This was really cool to watch all that hard work you put into it. Thanks.
@jennessalynam7682 okay hear me out, I made that mistake a long time ago, realised it and said “I’m sorry I didn’t look at the name” she replied “no worries, it’s not a male thing us girls call each other dude” I was like, yeah that’s unusual! So from then on thought sod it then, I mean in this day and age wtf do we call each other 😂 I would call you a girl, to me that just means female (the traditional kind with out a cock) I don’t mean a child’s age too. So, I’ll call you ‘Me-lady Jen’ from now on, does that work for you? 😁 I’m not saying any of this with a flippant tone or the likes 🖖
@@HewAndAwe It's all good. To be honest I love the fact that you actually remembered that conversation we had about the "Dude" thing. It made me feel good, like I'm special or something lol. So yeah when I saw your reply I immediately started laughing my ass off cause you remembered me. Thank you and you and only you can call me whatever you want 😉. Cause we're cool like that now.
Very nice restoration.. turned out beautiful... Should last for decades... Mama always said, save your bearings, you might need them for another project...
Thanks Gary! Yeah there in the box with all the other odds and sods. That bin shot was just for a visual saying they’re not being used. Thanks for watching 🍻🍻🍻
Great video again great saw looked the nuts when finished been using them for years like all machines they require an amount of common sense which seems to be in short supply nowadays
Haha yeah common sense, isn’t that common eh dude ffs! I’m on the side of the mitre saw to be honest, you can’t walk up a cut a 43 degree cut with out faff, huge foot print and the likes, beautiful to look at though.. I need a bigger boat… 🤷🏻♂️
That was great! I love seeing old machinery restored back to life. Reminds me of my childhood with my Dad. Anyway, Happy New Year and I hope you're well.
Thats an awesome video I started my apprenticeship using this saw and an enormous planer thicknesser .Your colours look much better well done.Would love to see and hear it working they made a very distinctive humming.Had a few kickbacks in the early days which taught me to respect this beast 😂😂😂
@@HewAndAwe Wow, it would be hard to part with it after that restoration. Did you make a good profit? You should do a home visit, make sure the buyer has a proper wood shop, tends to his tools, treats them right. Otherwise, NO SALE!
Thankyou for the video, and very nice restoration, just slightly jealous. I'm in Germany and radial arm saws are very hard to find, unfortunately. With your saw, fitting a motor break is actually very easy because it's 3-Phase. There exist switch boxes with a magnet switch, emergency off and a circuit which switches over two of the phases and so puts the motor in reverse for a short period of time, stopping the motor. The cheapest I've found here in Germany is about €125, though I'm hoping to find one which is cheaper still, I need it for an old surface planner for the school... Again thankyou.
Sexy a.f. Love radial arm saws. And all things Wadkin.Only really use them for rough crosscutting or trenching and making dentil moulding. This video was like pure meditation for me. I had a rare couple of hours to myself away from the wife and kids and I couldn't have found a better video to watch with a few beers. Thanks for sharing mate 👍🏼

I have a RAS saw for certain cuts and a sliding miter as well. RAS isn't really good quick multi quick cuts, unless it has a blade brake. But is good for notching or dados (North America).
Hey Ben. Great video here. You've mentioned you're getting rid of this, and while I'd love to take it off your hands, I'm in the US, so... I love a RAS, Ollie at Bradshaw Joinery has two side by side which is a nice set up. Have you see Jack English and the Wadkin Temple chap? Be right up your street.
He has the CC, those mothers are huge!!! Like 2.2m deep. And light too, like near half a ton. If I had a big workshop I’d entertain the idea, my dream workshop isn’t even close to reality but would be loaded with perfectly restored Wadkins. The old PK is my dream saw!!! But the AGS10 is more useful to me for furniture. I don’t know the others though dude… 🤷🏻♂️
I do apologise for the silly question - but can you please advise what kind of filler you use on your iron/aluminium parts please? I'm building a pillar tool with some very rough cast surfaces! Did you so anything special to protect the machined services, or just try not to get it on them?! :)
You should always buy the tools to do it yourself. A sand blasting cabinet would cost alot less than taking things to your local sand blasting guy wnd if you built it yourself you'd get some great content at the same time you can always upgrade your cabinet as you go.
Ben,what cost a hundred quid, the radial armsaw or sir Joshua in his mankini 🤔🧐. Ben, I don't recall you giving the price for the new blade 🤔 I'm guessing that it cost an 💪 & a 🦵 unless I had a hearing issue when you mentioned the price 😳. The overall restoration turned out amazing, I can't believe just how good a result you managed to get 🤯. I purchased a 6-inch wadkin planer around 4 yrs ago and still haven't even started to restore it. It's pretty shameful, if I'm honest. Plus it's a 3 phase and need to make it so I can use it on a 16amp and I think that's the problem as I don't have a single clue as what to do or how to even do it 🤔🧐🤪🫣. I also want to change the motor to a newer induction style one plus change the straight blade's to the helical head type 🤭. Again, I've not a bloody clue as to how to do any of it, hence why it's been sitting gathering dust in my workshop for around 4 or 5 yrs 🫣 and driving me mad as hell !!!. One day eh 🤨🤥. That said, you keep on buying and restoring these old wadkin machines and one day just one day I may get my fat arse around the restoring my very own wadkin machine 🤥🤥🫣😳. As always brother 💯% 👍 🫡.
Yeah the saw was, I forgot the blade, 150 quid dude! The motor swap you’ll need to make or find motor mounts to accommodate the motor to still sit in the right place. To be honest single phase is a lot less hassle than 3 phase! I’d leave the cutter head and keep it original if it were me as I’m pretty sure you’ll have to have someone make one from scratch possibly 🤷🏻♂️
@bobafetting6373 I take it that you haven't watched any of his other videos. If you think this one is puerile wait until you watch the back catalogue. Personally I love the irreverent approach Ben has.

AGS10 is a nice saw. I've got the BGS12 sliders. Like a baby PK.
@mattcable6379 did u know the ags 10 takes a 12” blade?
@HewAndAwe yep, and the 12 a 14in blade. The BGS can also take shaper and dado stacks.
@ same for the 10” for the dado, not sure about a shaper though, never thought about it.
I do apologise for the silly question - but can you please advise what kind of filler you use on your iron/aluminium parts please? I'm building a pillar tool with some very rough cast surfaces! Did you so anything special to protect the machined services, or just try not to get it on them?! :)
Just car body filler dude.. masking tape to protect anything.
You should always buy the tools to do it yourself. A sand blasting cabinet would cost alot less than taking things to your local sand blasting guy wnd if you built it yourself you'd get some great content at the same time you can always upgrade your cabinet as you go.
No way is that base going in a sand blasting cabinet dude, not just the size but weight must me over 100kg 😏 thanks for watching 🍻🍻🍻
Id like to find a place where you could pick up a dewalt radial saw for 50 or 60 £. A decent but not good one will sell here for 400 to 500£..😊
Facebook dude.. we looked eBay uk too.
رائع جدا
Thank you 😁🙏 😁
Also, was that for shits and giggles or did you seriously polish a washer? A ...WASHER!! 😂😂
It’s much worse that that dude, I clear coated it to. Well everything that was bare metal.
@@HewAndAwe lmao brilliant!!
You have an excellent weekend dude.
You to man 🍻🍻🍻
With such good restorations I wonder why you bring pronouns into your channel name:
He Wanda We?
I mean come on!!
😉👍
I have a pole dude… aka attack helicopter.
More puerile humor & references to dodgy 70’s sitcoms
Throw in some mending stuff if you feel like it
Haha cheers dude! Thanks for watching too 🍻🍻🍻
This could’ve been a decent video if it wasn’t for your puerile attempts at humour
@bobafetting6373 I take it that you haven't watched any of his other videos. If you think this one is puerile wait until you watch the back catalogue. Personally I love the irreverent approach Ben has.
A condom could have prevented this comment.
@paulhodgson4790 he fancies me 🤭
