I just stumbled upon this and I instantly gave you 10/10 for focusing on Lovecraft element and I gotta say... You really still hold that high score, because wow. I am in love
Bro, this AMV it is just so damn Amazing!!! It's not just something random, like the majority. The plot is solid, the effects are well made, the atmosphere is perfect. Congratulations without doubt!!!
ahaha fuck dude WHY DO U HAVE SO LITTLE SUBS now there are are things that could have been refined in my opinion but for an ic? pretty dam solid love your work looking forward to ur next projects
The only thing I didn't like was the chromatic abberation - very good AMV that is hard not to get your attention to! This 4 minutes passed by very fast, it was creative, and felt like watching a movie!
I saved the comment I made: "Hey dude! So I think most of it can be explained through the texts that come up on screen and some scenes (like when the character looks at two bodies in black bags), but I can tell you a little bit. I don't have the habit of telling the meaning of my stories because I am afraid to unilateralize them. To simplify, the whole narrative is about redemption. About someone who has committed a crime and can not handle it. Maybe the video loses the magic after that, but that's it."
Ah shit... Just when I am about to work on a Lovecraftian AMV I stumble over this. Better watch this first and see your vision of a lovecraftian AMV. ... I have watched it now. The video is great, but I have my issue with the theme of the AMV. The only thing I do not like is the lovecraftian aspect. Those gods have some lovecraftian flair, but the rest doesn't have much of it in my opinion. The huge red flag for me are the dialogs. Those are straight down impossible in the Lovecraftian universe. It's a violation of the material. Lovecraftian god's are ancient beings. Not capable of speaking our languages or they would simply not bother with you or your existence at all. We are a glimps in time for them. The rise and fall of humans are in a blink of an eye for them. We are powerless and insignificant for those cosmic forces. The core of Lovecraft's story for me are the mystery and uncertainty of investigating strange things and events, that are somehow connected to a huge horrifying truth. In most story's you finish the mystery in your head. The awareness of the possible truth is what gives you the chills. However in the end the story could have happened or not have happend at all. There is no bulletproof evidence. That's why most people would call you mad or insane for telling them the truth. So in your AMV most things are to graphic and precise for me. There is hardly anything vague that I have to puzzle together in my mind. The best lovecraftian scene for me is 2:05, because the character wittnesses something undescribeable. Something impossible and unnatural. Those are the moments that form the Lovecraft stories and the creepy feeling in your head. I would have been much happier with no association to Lovecraft. Well that's my opinion. Let me hear yours please. In the end everybody is free to interprate H.P. Lovecrafts work how he wants :) These are also the main issues I'm thinking about in my project. About how to fit in those core themes and cornerstones into a visual concept.
Hi, Bauzi! First of all, I have to thank you for this huge comment about my work. In an eloquent and polite way, you pointed out several "conflicting" aspects of my video - I appreciate it. Well, as an author, I must try to clarify a little of my vision. I think it's important to talk about. Yes, I can not deny, there is a legitimate disparity between the works of Lovecraft and my AMV, even though it carries the term "Lovecraftian". I do not want to say, too, that there are no "lovecraftian" influences or even an intention to prove respect to the author. There is. Maybe not as clear as initially, when I designed the project in my mind, I intended. Basically, the work had been done in three days for a contest (Soul's Team IC), so I had to not only use redundant resources but also to simplify visual and narrative tools. My sources were, in the end, considering the time I had, limited. I regret having committed such a violation in Lovecraft's universe, but the story eventually became mine as well, thus creating this disparity. Do you know when something creates its own life and unleashes events that pull you deep into its own ends? Yeah, it happened to me. And, trying to stay loyal to the "theme" I had originally proposed, I kept the title and some lovecraftian tributes. And another thing, in order to finalize - and perhaps the most important thing: my entire story, at least, occurs within a dream. It is not the lovecraftian universe itself, it is the protagonist's mind treating a traumatic event in the way that it can. I did not want to use the theme in a way: "this is the real one, and everything that happens here happened in the real world of the character." I would say, then, that the character of history who is moved by lovecraftian influences within his universe and unconsciously incorporated them as a form of redemption. Using some of these elements as his own symbology and giving him a palpable and overwhelming meaning. This would also explain, within my universe, why the Gods care about him or even talk to him. After all, it is simply his mind projecting an entity capable of surpass his presence ((based on his knowledge of existence and language)) and condemning him for his crimes. A personalized inferno where he observes the abyss of himself and treats, both internally and spiritually, his own weaknesses. To be honest, I also had a good influence of Silent Hill. It is something about sickness and crisis, and does not lead to destruction and death or to literally lovecraftian ends. Anyway, I think I've clarified some of my vision and explained, somehow, the reasons that led me to keep the title and sell the work like that. Ah! Another thing: I saw HYPERLUST. And I fucking liked it! Congratulations on the work, I expect a fair evaluation of it in VCA 2018. And, well, I'm going to wait for your lovecraftian work with great enthusiasm. And If I made some mistakes, forgive me. I'm a brazilian guy still learning english.
This video is downright amazing for 3 days of work. Maybe it lacks a bit fine work with high quality video source material. The UA-cam encode looks a bit washed out. Unfourtiunatly several 100 GB of data are not suitable for IC editing. "Do you know when something creates its own life and unleashes events that pull you deep into its own ends?" I know the feeling and situation. Hardly any of my AMVs turns out the way they where intended. Definatly the better works spiralled out of control and rewrote themselves. I would consider most of my 2017 AMVs an escalation of ideas. Yes I did forget to see these as dream sequences. In dreams everything is possible and plausible. Aren't the ancient ones manipulating us in our dreams to help them rise again? Like setting stones in motion. Being in the protagonist's dream gives the destroyed and wretched scenery a nice touch :) Thx for praise. Today I just found out about my nomination, because the guys at AMV News found my AMV that way. It was a nice surprise to see it getting a new wave of appreciation after months. I can tell you one thing for sure about my project: The main anime source will be baffling. On AMV News I found a poster for the Anime Expo AMV Contest dealine on the 3rd June. This could be a reasonable deadline for the project.
Oh, Japan Expo certainly can give you a huge boost in the project. Deadlines are the best way to force yourself out of procrastination and create something we usually do not take the courage to do it in a short time. I would say that pressure is very effective against lazyness and can potentiate our natural artistic capacity of creation. It's a viagra for art. hahaha And, well, again, thanks for the feedback. =]
something is wrong with the judging
just got here from amvnews,holy fuck,you're a god,concept and execution are 10/10

And I'm forever grateful for the fact that you're still here, enjoying my video. Thank you, man. I'm glad that my creation has a place in your life.

Mind = Blown
Also if you don't mind could you explain what your thoughts were behind that video or the plot for better understanding?
