    SC400 owner here
I gotta say a few things here:
The compression and hp bump came in 1995, not 1996. And the VVT-i was added in 1998, not 97. However, the original models have SUPER thick rods, which let the original motor have the ability to be built to nearly 800whp. And, the A340e automatic trans is both very comfortably to live with, and never gets in the way like other 4 speed autos. And, they are good for 650hp, after you go to a shift kit. They're SUPER good for boosting, more so than the JZ version due to hypereuctectic pistons and an oversquare design.
Also, CAIs are a bad idea here. Unless you go for a full boxed intake, you're going to have all power gains robbed by heat soak, so even though it looks janky, you're better off carving the front of your stock intake than buying that tube from autozone.
Oh, also. The ECU is a Massive, I mean, MASSIVE bitch to deal with from 1992-1995 (you're not gonna have fun with this if you get a late 1994-1995 model especially) due to the ECU's capacitors having a nearly 100% chance of popping and taking out the whole ass computer with it, and the ecu vendors are both lacking in support and quite sketchy.
Not to mention, a piggyback is a temporary solution, when if you want to truly make power, you need a standalone.
    But, seriously.
These are amazing cars, and I was a proponent of AWD before buying my darling. If you're like me and want a tuner car that's a bit mature, and more so, comfortable to drive in real-world situations, you need one of these.
The glowing reviews don't do it justice, you NEED to drive one to feel it.
(Also, I strongly suggest getting some Parts Shop Max coilovers. They still make them, they're affordable for real coils, and it's unreal how comfy they are)

Because everyone is a JZ fan boy, the hike in JZ prices will help correct that. Companies will start making more parts for the UZ (which the market has been improving over the last couple years). If there was directly swappable manuals it would have been more loved... but Toyota didn’t want to build it... yet the President of Toyota had a one-off Manual SC400 made for home like bruuuh 😂

Hey Mr. Random Reviews I know you that you know that the Lexus SC 300/SC 400 twins were sold in the Japanese home market as the Toyota Soarer (chassis code Z30) . There are American car clubs that rebadge their SC 300/400's as Toyota Soarers. But the obvious answer why no love for the SC400 is that us horsepower hungry Americans have "Fast and the Furious" dreams of slapping a factory or aftermarket turbo on the 2JZ of the SC 300 getting 1000 streetable HP out of a car that is basically the same chassis of the Mk 4 Supra that is more luxurious, better handling due to the longer wheelbase and cheaper than the Supra and also has a usable trunk.

There are also several 1uz lexus v8s with stock bottom end making the same power as the 2jz. 89-94 were the years to look for as far as big bing

@@100productionsinc.2 I 100% aware and agree with you on the 1UZ's power potential w/forced induction but like I said people here in the US are hyped up on "The Fast and the Furious" movie franchise and have dreams of cloning Paul Walker's ride. I myself daily drive my dear late father's 2001 LS 430 with the 2UZ. Granted not as good a candidate for FI as the 1UZ but I just passed the 220k on the odometer without cracking the valve covers.

@@colinw7205 that's awsome man. The ls430 was truly ahead of it's time for it's era. I currently daily drive a 98 Lexus gs400. And it's honestly not bad with having 291k miles and still be able to run a 14 second 1/4 mile

@This username check out supra v world channel, stock 2jz GE, between 500 to 1000 junkyard, then you can piece together a turbokit, or cxracing kit for cheap, pure function is doing a 2jz non vvti bottom, with a vvti head, that's the cheapest way to go, no one has 20k ready to burn.

@This username true, that's why I'm thinking NAT, 600 USD at junkyard, then gevvti head, 1uz turbo or supercharger costs alot.
