What struck me about this presentation was how straight forward and precise these 16 to 18 year old children were in comparison to the children of today. These children have greater knowledge and speaking skills than most politicians of today.

These children are definitely more well spoken than other children during their time as well. It's just a matter of how interested they are and how much exposure they have with regards to all topics like prejudice. But I do have to say that almost every child back in the olden days is much more mature. Some would argue that times were rougher and people have to grow up quicker than they should be but in a way, I see no harm in harvesting brilliant minds all around again
Unsurprisingly, this kid grew up to be a public relations professional. His most prominent role was working for Philippine ex-President Cory Aquino as her crisis manager. He disassociated himself from the administration when scandals erupted within the administration. He remained a brilliant orator and master communicator. He passed away at the age of 72. May he rest in peace.

The main things to take away from this are
How polite these kids are.
How educated they are for their young age.
Even if some comments made you agree or disagree with they stuck to what they believed in and explained why they thought the way they do.
Compare this to a lot (not all)of kids their age now and try and get opposing kids to have a civil debates these days it is very different
those days, only high status class would have the opportunities to go study aboard, which imply that they were well educated and manner.

Thats the quality of education then in the Philippines. I remember my grand father he never went to high school but he"s very good in english and math.
Yes, my grandma only spoke to me in English, only wrote to me in English; she was schooled by Americans in the 1920s and 1930s. But as a result I didn’t learn Tagalog fluently 😂

simple answer will be difference in interest as a human being it's basic psychology that you will protect your own kind in a sense that you'll have an inner wariness with other races by default so in that case for every topic being discussed all nations are pushing for there own agendas and there's nothing wrong with that but the normal people are too naive thinking that if you're speaking with other nation you'll discuss something that is fair for all nation but that is not how it works all countries trying to get a bigger pie eventually there will be a collision this is just basic human nature in a sense
thank you for sharing this video. I was born 1966 and I felt like I was so fortunate hearing how prejudiced stome people are during those days. We cannot blame them though because it was still post war era. I even experienced strong gender and racial discrimination even in the 80's but hearing the discussion on this video, I realized how lucky we still are to grow up in the era of emancipation and recognition of individual rights.
Well, maybe. But in my travels, I have still seen prejudice and discrimination being practiced silently if not overtly, by westerners against coloreds, even if they deny it.
I think these kids were long gone. Raul fom the Philippines passed away last year due to some health complications and aging. Her daughter posted a message of her dad's passing or death. This is interesting.. in 75 years we wouldn't be here and younger generations will watch our youtube videos. I watch those videos in 1800s and early 1900s..it's interesting to see how they lived during those days.
My boy although not biological lives in the Philippines. I've been a 3rd parent since he was born. Though he is 9 now he has spoken his native Tagalog and American language since age 2. He has very little slang and his teachers are very amazed at his intelligence. He means more than the 🌙 ✨ 🌞 to me!
My wife is from Luzon. When I'm in the Philippines I noticed even the light colored Filipinas treat the darker skinned Filipinos like they are beneath them. They do anything to stay out of the sun. Buying whiting products to this day. I told my wife don't put that garbage on her skin. She is who she is! Love this debate an how everyone respected each other an their opinions!

Definitely, my aunts and uncles have lighter complexions then me and they tell me to buy those whitening skin products. Even as a kid my brother called me black and my dad told me i had Hawaiian skin and stuck with me and I told everyone I was half Filipino and half Hawaiian .

This is set to be a debate but ended in a simple chat but full of information.
This is how debates are supposed to be, a chat, a conversation instead of screaming monkeys where the loudest ones win.
I have nieces and nephews between the ages of 14 and 24;sadly, not one of them can carry on an substantive conversation with me or each other for 20 minutes. In my observations and experiences, this seems seems to be indicative of this generation, here in America.
Really impressed by these young people in 1956. Their respectfulness of each other, their frankness, their analytical skills, and their diction (regardless of accent) is wonderful. The education system in this country needs to improve for us to have civil discourse.

2 things..the Filipino boy is my aunts age and would be going to college as a freshman the next year..there was no middle school at the time..the reason that his answers are so insightful is because his classes prepared him earlier for college than US schools and the maturity is probably because children are not spared the harsh realities of life because of the constant barrage of typhoons which makes people go on despite hardship and the lack of niceties of an industrial society.
At present, it seems the table has turned in the Philippines. The mestisoz and mestisaz usually landed in showbusiness, and most are preferred usually in almost any aspects, but then most filipinos you can see have mixed bloods, and the filipinos today are almost always considered as a beautiful race😊
Yes it's a lil bit different in the 40s or 50s nowadays lots of filipinos with mixed blood especially our kababayans in diaspora or locals are everywhere marrying different races.

Growing up, this is how we used to speak with each other when we had differences and a lot of us have differences. I'm only in my 40s and to think back, the world I live in wasn't that long ago & it wasn't as hateful as they are today.
One thing 99% of us who had differences agreed on was if anybody were to remove our freedom to speak our minds, we will fight anybody who tried to deny you of that freedom including those we disagreed with, and many did. Some even died for it.
Today, if you have a different opinion or disagreed with someone or the regime, you are cancelled, muted, ignored, laughed at or worse, killed because your opinion is different from this regime. That's not the America I grew up in.
Until people learn history & the correct history, not the ones that are being taught in schools both public & private, you would get a glimpse of the America I grew up in.

This reflects the time then, seems every generation a part of courteousness, respect, eloquence and passion drops little by little. To compare them to now is really a great difference. As the technology progresses, the morality decreases. Now people argues endlessly even in the internet. Respect is lacking now and entitlement is so prevalent. What a shame. I don’t mind being in their time, things seems so relax and full of respect.
