I absolutely love the openness and atmosphere where you can share anything without anyone getting cancelled. It’s really a more suitable time in our human history to share our distastes and criticisms openly. Nowadays it’s hard, and I want this open conversation continue. Communication between people is the key to understand and avoid conflict ❤

They would not even comprehend the idea of the cancellation of a person.
The tiny nuances that are manipulated today in order to silence a view that does not align exactly with a narrative
coming from? That a group of people agree on.
I imagine that confusion might come from not understanding that a person is allowed to think freely, and speak
      freely.
A Dictatorship, would be the only thing to assume by those events.
Lol. As that definition just now came to me after re-reading what I had written.

But seeing them talk to each other without rudely butting in like today, considering it was 1956, is something we our generation today should learn a valuable lesson from about *respect* and giving each other a chance to speak and finish what each one is trying to say and convey.

I realize this would have been unlikely, but I think it would be interesting if they had average students from each country on these panels. For all the discussions about the educational systems of each place, that would have been a reflection of them, in action. These students are the exception, not the rule. Then again, average students would likely not be able to have very in depth discussions. Nonetheless, I’m fascinated.

Having said this, I really think that these kids are exactly what they are, just kids. There is this thing called "real world" ruled by worldly business & political leaders (powers that be regardless of race/origin/background) operating in a stealth & underlying theme of corruption, greed, corporatism..., that is far different from what is perceived on the outside which continues to run & shape our world. In the 1950“s onward the Philippines came next after Japan in terms of economic prosperity with excellent educational system patterned after the American standard; proof of which were excellent products of Filipino boys Raul and Johny in the debate forum for exchange students in USA.

Pilipinos are born intellectual more so in reasoning. One good example is this VEDIO you are watching. Mr. Atellon was given more chance of his views but, if it was allowed by events, senator Arturo Tolentino, Ferdinand Marcos sr. are good example of Pilipino brilliancy just like Mr. Jhonny Atellon.

Dammit I'm still trying to find that third student from the Philippines who was on this trip too. I remember watching him absolutely troll a student who was Scandinavian like from Norway or Sweden or sth. They were talking about women's rights and everyone including himself generally agreed there should be. But when he saw how she was so passionate about it he went ahead and said I believe in polygamy, men should have more than one and women can't, and it absolutely infuriated that one girl from Europe and the other students knew and didn't tell her he was trolling and went on with their points. Even the old lady noticed and when that student actually got more riled up and had put her fist on the table the old lady was laughing and held her back. Where is that footage why is there only the two out of three out there

America had every incentive to help the rest of the world. I mean if you think about the 50s it is enough to see how NY looked like and the go anywhere in the world and see how they compare. Truly the US was 1 industrial revolution ahead of every other nation and that's important. It means America was simply a lot richer and could use all that wealth to sway opinions. By doing that you develop future markets which means more people buying your stuff, you protect them from going left because it was still early Cold war period and if these nations happened to be your allies they could help you greatly in case of need. Again it was the Cold war and more powerful allies might have proven to be helpful

I cringed so much I have to make a clarification. The Thomasites were US volunteer educators who were named after a US army transport ship they boarded. Thomas jeferson was the 3rd US president who lived about a century before that event.
