I will be using this in my shed awesome idea thanks so much. Me and my wife love both of your channel’s!
Awesome! Thank you!
Great job as always. You make it all look 20:28 so simple. ❤
Wow! I love you attention to detail!
Kevin sorry I just got time to watch this. That’s was a great how to video thanks.
Great information on the video. I’m definitely implementing this on my enclosed trailer after the fall cleanups. Thanks for doing the video!
You bet!
Absolutely awesome information
Glad it was helpful!
Beautiful job !!! Great information.
Thank you!
Awesome job bro
Genius my friend
Thank you!
Your skillset is very impressive. Truly a jack of all trades. I know this seems simple to you. But to some of us non-technical people, you did a great job of walking us through the process.
I am curious though, why not just use a jackery or something similar. I'm positive you have a reason, and I can think of two advantages of the dewalt system over a jackery, but am curious why you decided to go this way.
Another great video!
Mostly because using a jackery would be a temporary setup to power the trailer and we wanted something permanent in the trailer! Also those powerstations are pretty pricey so at that cost I would just but a 12v Lithium Battery and run the same system off of that over using the Dewalt batteries!
Good video thanks for the how to
Very cool
I definitely would like one build for me if possible

Thank you for the how to. How you did it was very nice. The battery idea is so nice. Like the 12 volt system. Can you do a day in a life of your day????
I possibly could but it would have to make sense for the channel!
Looks really good. I use a couple of dewalt batteries through a buck converter to some motion activated led lights in a couple of bathrooms as a nightlight. I haven’t put in low voltage protection, but I have killed a couple of batteries because I forgot to check them and the light drained the battery. So now I have a couple of low voltage protection boards. I also have some 20 18650 batteries coming to fix the dead batteries.
Hardest choice Sunday morning is do I watch paving new paths first or off the path first.
We don't mind which one you choose first as long as you still enjoy the videos!
You can save a step and get rid of the terminal strip, it's not needed and just wired directly into your battery protection terminals. By getting rid of that terminal strip it eliminates a possible fail point.
The terminal strip is there to eliminate butt splicing any of the connections! Terminal strips are used in every industrial j box application!
I LOVE IT!!!!
Thank's for the video. I built a box after seeing your video, and I was wondering if I have to set the low voltage protection or is it set thank you so much.
You set it yourself, the low voltage protection has instructions on how to do this
Thank you this great info, but we are wondering where you got the battery mount with the wires included. 😊
All parts used are in the description of the video!
Amazing work! Quick question can we hook up a wall plug so we can charge our batteries to this?
This is a 12v DC system if you wanted a 120 output you would need a much larger capacity battery and an inverter to have ac power!
@@OffThePathWithKevin Thanks. Are you able to make a video for it.
what size junction box did you purchase? the link sends you to the 8.6”x6.7”x4.3” but the video makes it seem like you’re using a larger one. I just want to order the box once and not have to worry about returning one.
Thank you in advance

Awesome job.I wish you would pkg and sell this as a kit. If not would you post a content list of materials.
I do build and sell these if you are interested reach out at offthepathwithkevin@gmail.com
Or if you want to do it yourself the parts are all listed in the description
Could you run a switch somehow to easily convert it back and forth from DeWalt battery to shore power being powered by a generator?
i wonder how long it last ?
Was this some old oil rigging stuff you used to do? I really like this setup.
I spent a lot of time doing stuff just like this on the rigs!
Do you have to program the cutoff voltage on the low voltage device?
Yes! The unit comes with instructions on how to do this!
What did you program your cut off voltage too
16.5 v
Sorry, I also forgot to ask if you set the difference value
I did! I belive it's set at 1v. It's all in the instructions when you set them up!
10:47 Actually you had it correct. Generic name IS Step Bit. Brand name is Uni-bit made by Irwin.
50w 5100w solar panel for DC to DC solar charging for tools batteries in a slightly bigger box with your project also in it?
My LEDs have a standard plug. Can I cut it and use this to power them by attaching + to + and - to - ?
( I just built this because of your video btw :))
What do you mean by standard plug? Are you LED lights 120v ac power or 12 v DC power? This is a 12v DC system
What would it take to add a dc to ac converter? Mainly to use some small items other than dc lights off the same battery?
What size screws did you use to get everything in for the internal box ? Also I didn’t see the black wire as one of the links to buy on amazon
I believe they were #6
@@OffThePathWithKevin Thank you!!! i accomplished it and i am very happy with the way it turned out. do you get shocked every since you installed it? for some reason i randomly get shocked when touching anything metal in my trailer now lol
I would be very interested in you making me one!
Have you thought about time lapse of yiu mowing?
Maybe! Not sure the direction of how it want to film mowing yards!
@@OffThePathWithKevin well always love tractor vids
What would you charge and to send out that exact box
Send email to offthepathwithkevin@gmail.com
Sorry for the stupid question….I’m confused about the setting to low voltage protection . When you say it’s set to 16 volts do you mean 16 volts used on the battery so the battery only has 4 volts of power left and shuts off or it shuts of when the voltage drops to 16 volts of power left on the battery?
When the voltage of the battery goes below 16v the system will shut down to prevent the battery from fully discharging! Your cordless power tools do this as well, when the tool stops working the battery is nor completely dead just below the low voltage shut off!
@@OffThePathWithKevin …thanks so much from Ontario Canada for clarifying that Kevin. Excellent video by the way. I’m gonna order the components to build one. Keep up the great work.
The 20v batteries are 5x series lithiums with a voltage range of 20v max 18v normal 15v dead. You don't want to bring them below 15v or you can damage them.
How about a list and where to get tks
Check the description of the video! It's all there!
Hey Kevin big fan of your videos, have helped me tons with building my dream trailer. Not sure where to contact you about getting this power unit made but I would like to get you to make one for me. Please get back to me at your earliest convenience. Thank you

What colors wire gauge sizes? All 16 AWG same?
Yes all wiring is 16AWG
do you sell then if so how much for dewalt
We do make them for viewers! Send an email to offthepathwithkevin@gmail.com
What gage wire is the black wire that you use?
16 AWG
@@OffThePathWithKevin is it a single or the one with red and black once you cut the wire?
How much would you charge to make one with 18v Milwaukee with lighted rocker panels ?
Send an email to offthepathwithkevin@gmail.com
You could sell that if you had time to make extra ones.
I sold this one and was making it for a viewer!
Might be easier to just make them and sell them..
The one in this video was being made for a viewer!
@@OffThePathWithKevinhow much did you charge if it’s ok to ask?
Send an email to offthepathwithkevin@gmail.com
The negative from the light went to the fuse block. But from the fuse block, there wasnt a negaive going back to the rocker switch. But in the box in your trailer, there was. What looked liked negatives anyway, attached to the top of the switches. Care to explain that part?
The rocker switches in my box have a light indication that lights up when the circuit is active, The negative to the rockers is for that light to work! In this one the rockers didn't have a light on the switches so we don't need that negative ran to the switch!
@OffThePathWithKevin ahhhh yes!! I wasn't even thinkin about that. I'll be ordering all the stuff you put in your description, so I just wanted to get it right. Great video explaining btw. Glad ya did a follow up video!
Am I wrong in thinking that the battery’s already have low voltage protection built into them?
The batteries no, the tool and chargers do!
How do we pay you to make one for us? I definitely couldn’t do that myself and definitely want this in the trailer i just bought. Please let me know
Shoot me an email at offthepathwithkevin@gmail.com
So how much you charge to build for me
send me and email at offthepathwithkevin@gmail.com
now add a cap bank and a buck converter and use it to jumpstart dead batteries on cars or a lawn mowers.
We run our equipment everyday and stay on top of our Maintenance so we never have dead batteries!
@OffThePathWithKevin i got a bunch of junkers. I'm a contractor and I built a solar system in my tool trailer. I used a charge controller and a power center for an rv. I live by elkhart in, so cheap rv junk everywhere lol. I'm thinking of putting one of these together. I mainly use the trailer to charge tool batteries.
What size fuses did you put in the fuse panel
10 amp!
how would you go about wiring in 2 Milwaukee batteries into this setup? essentially, doubling the amp hour capacity allowing for longer run times.
