    Your skillset is very impressive. Truly a jack of all trades. I know this seems simple to you. But to some of us non-technical people, you did a great job of walking us through the process.
    I am curious though, why not just use a jackery or something similar. I'm positive you have a reason, and I can think of two advantages of the dewalt system over a jackery, but am curious why you decided to go this way.
    Another great video!

    • @OffThePathWithKevin
      @OffThePathWithKevin  3 місяці тому +4

      Mostly because using a jackery would be a temporary setup to power the trailer and we wanted something permanent in the trailer! Also those powerstations are pretty pricey so at that cost I would just but a 12v Lithium Battery and run the same system off of that over using the Dewalt batteries!

    Looks really good. I use a couple of dewalt batteries through a buck converter to some motion activated led lights in a couple of bathrooms as a nightlight. I haven’t put in low voltage protection, but I have killed a couple of batteries because I forgot to check them and the light drained the battery. So now I have a couple of low voltage protection boards. I also have some 20 18650 batteries coming to fix the dead batteries.

    You can save a step and get rid of the terminal strip, it's not needed and just wired directly into your battery protection terminals. By getting rid of that terminal strip it eliminates a possible fail point.

    Sorry for the stupid question….I’m confused about the setting to low voltage protection . When you say it’s set to 16 volts do you mean 16 volts used on the battery so the battery only has 4 volts of power left and shuts off or it shuts of when the voltage drops to 16 volts of power left on the battery?

    • @OffThePathWithKevin
      @OffThePathWithKevin  3 місяці тому +2

      When the voltage of the battery goes below 16v the system will shut down to prevent the battery from fully discharging! Your cordless power tools do this as well, when the tool stops working the battery is nor completely dead just below the low voltage shut off!

    The negative from the light went to the fuse block. But from the fuse block, there wasnt a negaive going back to the rocker switch. But in the box in your trailer, there was. What looked liked negatives anyway, attached to the top of the switches. Care to explain that part?

    • @OffThePathWithKevin

      The rocker switches in my box have a light indication that lights up when the circuit is active, The negative to the rockers is for that light to work! In this one the rockers didn't have a light on the switches so we don't need that negative ran to the switch!
