For those wondering about the archive footage, the dogs and the cat made it out of the house after the fire started (scared and confused), and the fire was fairly contained. They lost the mattress, probably got a bad scorch in the floor, and they'd be sanitizing for the resulting smoke damage (and all the water applied, as lithium fires are tough to put out), but it could have gone quite a lot worse. Batteries should definitely be respected, but they don't have the detonation speed of true explosives, and 'yield' is pretty dependent on size. Small ones really don't give much of a pop, it's more with the large kinds of rechargables as you see in laptops and electric mobility scooters where you see the potential for a more dangerous blast, if something went really wrong somehow.
Same modification - PETN replacing internal battery electrical insulation. No modifications to the actual radio - just a physically identical third party battery for an out of production radio. Detonation requires the battery to sense a coded current demand from the receiver circuit.

I know hospitals still use them as they are quick communications inside the building for emergency response to people who are needed in the ER/OR etc. It's a more discreet way to directly contact a particular person, vs announcing over the intercom.
Think it also had to do with all electronics in the hospital have to be approved to not interfere with equipment. Sure cell phones don’t really interfere but I think cost and other negative distractions of cell phones keep the pager in use. Hard to tell the whiny patients to get off phones if drs walking around on them.
@@dustyak79 A lot of stuff like the rooms used for imaging act as shielding against cell signal so reception would be inconsistent across the entire building. I think they eventually started to install repeaters because last time I went into a hospital it had signal everywhere.
I wish you explained where exactly you put the explosives! Did you just stuff the insides or did you try to make it "stealthy"? Meaning as hidden as possible if someone was to open the pager?
there was a radio ad that ran nonstop in the early 90's out where I live and it was a middle-eastern guy that referred to himself as "Jhay-jhay - the king of beepers". It was the first thing I thought of after the beep-boom-booms happened
There were reports that the Apollo had a rechargeable Lithium AA battery. Since IDF was making about 5000 of these, setting up a manufacturing run of 5000 Lithium AA batteries that are roughly half lithium and half explosive would not be difficult. Google says AA lithium cell is approximately 15 grams, so getting 5 grams of explosive into it is possible. There remains how you trigger it. But having it inside the battery hides it in plain sight.
I believe they set it up to where to view encrypted messages you need to press 2 buttons at the same time causing you to have both hands on the pager as it explodes. Then 5 minutes later just sent a command to detonate all additional pagers. This is why to Iranian ambassador lost fingers from both hands and an eye from holding it close to his face to read the message. Can’t build bombs without fingers.

People don't understand about its plastic explosives, it doesn't take much..... I once seen a guy light an m-80 in hand and he couldn't get rid of it in time, well he almost lost his hand... And that was just flash power, now imagine if it was plastic explosives.... you guys are absolutely right....
I was in electronics school, trying to learn transistors. Tell the difference between an NPN, and a PNP. If I remember correctly, the thing that our instructor taught us was not pointing now or pointer not pointing or something to that effect.
Hate to ruin your day, but it's way more complicated and device-dependent. The + side of a galvanic cell (battery) is only the cathode when it is discharging. It switches otherwise. Electrolytic cells are the opposite, where "an ode is positive" or whichever of the million mnemonics you prefer. Then you have tubes, diodes, etc.
Alphanumeric pagers like the "Alpha gold" you showed were not designed to be carried in the pockt. They came with a belt clips carrier case. The pager friction fit inside this case, the case was clipped to the belt. By the time this type of pager came out, Motorola had figured out that using the belt clip was a pain. It wasn't easily taken off the belt to read and was a major pain to re-clip back to the belt. (Damn I feel old know)
From what I seen in a news report that interviewed, there were 2 batteries in that particular style of pager and therefore they were able to use one battery to keep the unit operating so as to not draw any suspicions to the users, and the other battery was replaced with an explosive
From an electronics standpoint this would not be straightforward. It would be significantly easier to add explosives to the packaging. Depending on the design, batteries would occasionally need to be swapped out as well.
We really hoped the gel targets were going to arrive in time, but we have the worst luck with delivery services. So, our trusty mannequins will have to do for the time being. Still, these pagers really demonstrate that it's not the size that matters but how you use them.

YOU CAN SKIP THE FIRST 4:30 SECONDS . First 4 mins is just this guy yacking over stuff I could care less about. Still gave him a thumbs up he put in the time
Sean and Jake are the best people on youtube!!!
I've already called the RCMP, Sean. Don't worry.
Am I the only one who heard it??? 😂"Vibrating wand that gives you pleasure". You're not THAT boring, still had my attention lol.
The biggest problems with pages back then in Australia was trying to find a payphone where the handset works and not ripped out or out of order.
But upgraded to the Motorola brick phone.
These are almost guaranteed to blind you because you're looking at the screen when it explodes
finally!! A PROFESSIONAL evaluation. Not som reporter, a "CIA" gomer spouting dribble on a subject they know NOTHING about.
It was a subject almost made for us. Lol
I’m still under the impression from some pictures and videos that a shape charge was used, maybe not in all but in some pictures it really looks like a shape charge, and I know this channel loves its shape charges.
Meanwhile, in other news: Diaper prices have skyrocketed, seemingly overnight.
🤣👍
4:40 and here most youtubers would tell you not to try this at home
Good man. Fight against the algorithm by following what the algorithm dictates almost to the letter. Yay for you smart guy.
You KNOW that someone at Mossad was laughing their head off when all this happened.
Especially since were actually paid for these beepers lol.
Awesome video Guys thanks for the explanations on what the batteries can and can't do
Emergency services all around the world use pagers. They still work great.
You know what they say.
“If you’re going to show a pager in the first act, you have to use it by the third”
During the beeper rage, I had a Mojorola. The top slid over, revealing two brass dugouts and a storage space for weed.
Dude, you can keep your weed in there
There is a nonzero chance that some middle-aged man named Bob Pataki is watching this in order to find out what his beepers managed to do.
Medical professionals and EMS are about the only ones I know who still uses pagers.
@@dustyak79 A lot of stuff like the rooms used for imaging act as shielding against cell signal so reception would be inconsistent across the entire building. I think they eventually started to install repeaters because last time I went into a hospital it had signal everywhere.
I JUST SAW YOU GUYS ON NETFLIX! Blazed as hell watching aliens I thought I was either having a stroke or the matrix was running outta ram 😂
Canadian here. Keep the awesome content coming.
i love the videos guys but at 3:07 minutes the mannequins' zipper is down lol
I wish you explained where exactly you put the explosives! Did you just stuff the insides or did you try to make it "stealthy"? Meaning as hidden as possible if someone was to open the pager?
True Lies was definitely a good performance for Arnold, but i think maybe kindergarten cop or jingle all the way??😂😮😮😮
there was a radio ad that ran nonstop in the early 90's out where I live and it was a middle-eastern guy that referred to himself as "Jhay-jhay - the king of beepers". It was the first thing I thought of after the beep-boom-booms happened
I loved my pager! I think I bought a bing, but these guys bought a boom.
Howdy from Temple, Texas, USA!
Ayyy! :D
Man, spicy AND saucy today! Love that you went there with the massage wand mention!
Very fun video, keep it up! Love the topical content
Great battery info! I'm a nerd. I love to hear how things work. Ya'll keep up with quality content 👌
Cool show. I subscribed and liked, so keep it interesting. About Arnold's best acting... Try The Last Action Hero again. The scene where he meets himself?
Palistinians say from the river to the sea. Israel says from the liver to the knee.
Thanks for the info.
The company is giving free replacements for any duds
You guys are effin awesome! Brilliant idea, demonstrating something that seems abstract and far away in current events. Thank you, very fascinating to see this demonstration in that it really shows the power of high explosives. A little bit can really reach out and touch someone, if you will.
Digging the khorne flakes shirt lol. Dog got instant justice for earing that battery!
Jake does love his warhammer 40k.
HA MAN the Warhammer Khorne Flakes shirt is awesome ..or in this case should be Koran Flakes I suppose. Great Video as always Gentleman
Shall we just call it "The ball buster"
I remember when my school banned pagers because they were convinced that only drg dealers used them 😂
People don't understand about its plastic explosives, it doesn't take much..... I once seen a guy light an m-80 in hand and he couldn't get rid of it in time, well he almost lost his hand... And that was just flash power, now imagine if it was plastic explosives.... you guys are absolutely right....
This is like Mythbusters & the James Bond exploding pen myth. I would love it if you were able to team up with the Ballistics High Speed guys.
This was an awesome video, but I couldn't help but point out your fly was down in the thumbnail lmao
I was never able to remember which of anode or cathode was positive but that was helpful - cat - paw - positive
I was in electronics school, trying to learn transistors. Tell the difference between an NPN, and a PNP.
If I remember correctly, the thing that our instructor taught us was not pointing now or pointer not pointing or something to that effect.
@@ETC_Rohaly_USCG
NPN is Never Points iN.
PANIC is the mnemonic I was taught for electrolysis. Positive Anode Negative Is Cathode.
@@bretling ahhh FML, thanks
Operation Six-Change
this reminds me of the life invader phone from gta 5
Comment for the algorithm!
This channel is so awesome.
5:47, Khorne Flakes? You mean the breakfast cereal so good it makes you spill blood for the blood god and skulls for the skull throne?
Great video, tons of great info.
I love this channel... best channel with Metatron... in an ocean of crap
I was really curious about this, thx for the demonstration!
YT deleting comments again
Mine two comments about this being a war crime almost instantly deleted
Hope nobody was carrying any contraband pagers in prison..
Better known as the Mazel Tov Cocktail
"You're fly is down in the thumbnail."
"It's my UA-cam channel."
(Damn I feel old know)
"Urban Minstrals" IM DEAD. Jokes this video were ON POINT.
Your fly is open
From what I seen in a news report that interviewed, there were 2 batteries in that particular style of pager and therefore they were able to use one battery to keep the unit operating so as to not draw any suspicions to the users, and the other battery was replaced with an explosive
From an electronics standpoint this would not be straightforward. It would be significantly easier to add explosives to the packaging. Depending on the design, batteries would occasionally need to be swapped out as well.
