As much as I want the next Sundered Isles episode, I've gotta say, never stop talking about The Between (or other super innovative games, if something comes along that you love anywhere near as much).
Thanks! I know you are in a minority in this sense and most people just want more Ironsworn from me, but I want to shine a light on as many games as I can!
@@thebadspot I'm with OP on this. Learned about 10 Candles from you, now this.
@salty-nick I’m a river to my people!
Great video!!! I, too, am full on obsessed with this game so I am super excited so many people are backing it!!
You love to see it!
Backed it thanks to your video!
My work is done!
Feels like fate. Just yesterday i was showing your initial video about this game to my friend. Trying to convince him to play. Only wake up to this.
Perfect timing!
I'm really excited for this but, I must say, I'm not a fan of some of the new art. I love the Victorian era London and Penny Dreadful style in the older documents but some of the newer art I saw seems to be very abstract and not giving me Victorian vibes. I have always been very much about the art in RPG books. Going back to Basic and 1e D&D the art was what helped immerse me and some of this art takes me out of it.
I wasn’t a fan at first, but it’s grown on me!
I've finally backed this after giving it some thought. My problem is that whenever I hear about The Between I get really nostalgic for Swords without Master (purely because of the level of player-driven story, they're very different games otherwise)... so I gave myself time to make sure I was excited about the game itself rather than hoping it would be something it's not. Listening to the "ain't slayed nobody" podcast was a big help. I love the inventiveness of the basic clues + questions gameplay loop and the way the game drives everything towards exploring the characters.
I have an irrational dismissiveness, I think, around the Threats, because I'm so used to coming up with my own random threats/jobs as a GM. I say irrational because the improvised clues mean every threat will turn out differently for every group anyway.
Two things that feel really unique which I didn't take note of from your reviews: I really like that there are several threats running at a time, and I really like that some threats have multiple questions.
I was the same, honestly. I thought the threats would be very restrictive but it’s the opposite in practice.
This sounds great. Sadly, I have no gaming group so I am limited to solo play, but I'll keep this in mind should I ever find a group again.
If you ever do, it’s amazing!
Agreed, this seems like exactly the sort of thing I'd enjoy GMing, if I end up getting a group again. Well -- a group amenable to modern games.
I hope we never tire of you “banging on”….
… not sure why 15 months to deliver so I’ll likely pass
It’s going to be a long wait for physical books for sure, but the digital rewards drop in April. I already have games booked in!
Making nice books takes a long time!
