    Aunt Ruby's is one of the finest tasting tomatoes I have grown. The plant stands up to our Alabama heat and humidity. It produces large fruit even in the 90+ degree summers we have. I hope you enjoy yours, Kaye.

      That's amazing! You know I was just in Alabama, right? Maybe next time I can visit your garden Carrie. I'll have those videos coming in a few weeks. This knee situation, and all the other stuff I mentioned in "About My Trip" has gotten me behind on editing. Yes, this is one impressive plant, hardly any disease even though tomato vines are dying all around it. Incredible. Maybe I'll just grow this next year from seeds I save. Though I failed to save seeds from the biggest ones. I had one this morning for breakfast, so good!! Take care and thank you for your continued support!

    I am a fish keeper (8 tanks) what we strive for is to have tanks that are ecologically balanced -This requires the right amount of plants, light, fish, feeding, diligent water changes and tank maintenance... It takes time to get this right -to get it into balance and when it does we call this tank a mature tank ...I can see this happening in your garden...it is maturing..

    • @Latebloomershow
      @Latebloomershow  7 років тому +1

      Oh, thank you! Sometimes I wonder. At this point there is no getting things under control, just going to ride it out till tomatoes are done and then clean it up. I am going to think on "mature garden," and see if I am doing that. When I went BTE with wood chips, the way I garden changed. I know the soil has improved tremendously, but it's also brought it's challenges, like fig beetles. There is a worldwide convention in my trees buzzing around the garden the last two weeks, and I truly fear the numbers of grubs there will be. Thanks so much for your contribution, and I admire the conscientious effort it must take to get there.

    Kaye, It's a lovely tomato harvest! But I wanted to talk about your knee. I have terrible arthritis in my knees and at the beginning of the year I could hardly walk it was so bad. My Orthopedist prescribed me a brace I wear on the worst of the two. It gently pushes my knee in such a way that the bone doesn't rub on more bone. It has made my life SO much better. Please ask your orthopedist if this could help you!

    • @Latebloomershow
      @Latebloomershow  7 років тому

      Well, got the MRI results yesterday. I have a slight meniscus tear, as well as wear and tear on the kneecap area. So he gave me an injection of cortisone, which normally I would refuse, but since I've been suffering for two months, I did it. Just to calm the area down and see if I can manage. Unlikely the tear can repair itself, but, we shall see if I can avoid surgery. As for you, good, and also I would say have you tried rooster comb injections? I asked the doc about that for me, as someone had recommended, and he said that is for arthritis situations. So check that out! Thanks for your continued support!!! xoxo

    Omg perfect timing. I am harvesting my tomatoes as I type lol . Lots of green ones but a few are turning yellow. I also plan to make fried green tomatoes today. Love your vidoes.
    I hope your knee is much better now!

    • @Latebloomershow
      @Latebloomershow  7 років тому +1

      Good, they only turn yellow if they are a yellow tomato. :) OH, let me know how those fried green tomatoes are! This green tomato is way too tender for frying. Not sure what variety is best for frying. My knee is feeling better, but the results are I have a slight meniscus tear, so it remains to be seen whether I can avoid surgery. Thanks for the love!! Sending it right back!

    That face was funny beautiful tray of tomatoes. I want to grow beef steak or brandy wine tomatoes. Don't know if they're the same someone said they are . I just know beef steak are the best meaty juicy tomatoes for tomato sandwiches. Some mayonnaise salt & pepper and wow soooo good. 👍

    Amazing healthy plants. I too had a super tomato harvest this year in my Pacific Palisades Highlands garden. Started most of mine from saved seeds. In-fact just planted some more for round two. How do you keep the spider mites in check especially since your plants are planted fairly close and grow so big?

    • @Latebloomershow
      @Latebloomershow  7 років тому

      Spider mites wiped me OUT this year. Never had them so bad, but then, I was gone for 7 weeks when I might have been spraying a spinosad. They claimed my cukes and squash for the most part, and most of my 4 O'clocks flowers. Not sure what else. They are out of control this year.

    No aerobics with that Knee Kaye, get your friend to cut the tomatoes in there where you can't reach. I hope it's settling. The plant is huge but then you have the weather there for it, not like the gales and rain we are having here this summer.

      LOL! Yeah, that's the LAST thing I need, to fall off that. YIKES. Got a cortisone injection yesterday. Didn't want to put that in my body but, have been suffering for 6 weeks, so I did it. I watched your video on the grubs!! And low and behold when I was planting my spaghetti squash plants today I found 3 grubs and shared them with my neighbor 😉. Never before had a grubs 😞I'm getting nematodes

    • @Latebloomershow
      @Latebloomershow  6 років тому

      Yeah, I looked into nematodes, but it's not a sure thing and you have to do it at the right time, etc., etc., can't remember all the details now. But, unless you have several at the base of your plants, then they are just decomposers doing a job for you. So, we got out the majority and now we just take them out when we see them, just like snails. But, if you do it, let me know the results!

      I gave a lot of those away. That was last season. I made a big bowl of green salsa (see my green salsa video from my Cooking from the Garden playlist) every week, and they all got eaten. I seeded an Aunt Ruby's this year, but big question mark if I can ever have a mother lode like that. Thanks for watching!
