Great stuff, really helps to see what are on the sprues before buying. I probably won't bother with the trooper box, the crew and mercenary kits look a lot more varied.
Awesome, thanks for showing us whats in each box. It's going to be fun to assemble my minis and painting them! With the gnolls and cultists we got with the Nicstarter, me and my budy are not going to run out of pirates! Thanks for the vid!
I have to say the 5 different videos for Stargrave this week have definitely made me wanting to see many more. Even if I don't win the videos were worth viewing
I cracked. While I was out shopping this afternoon, I bought the rules. I'm thinking of trying it in 15mm as a friend and I already have some 15mm SF terrain (and I've got loads of suitable figures lurking in my lead pile).
Certainly does look good - all three of them. I really like the troopers box. Im in the process of painting a few figures for Oathmark and I have to say the Oathmark humans and Frostgrave figures make some nice and varied combinations.
I can see the appeal of getting a variety of the kits to mix and match. Pretty good sci-fi mini's in general, even if you might not be playing Stargrave with them.
I was looking for miniatures for Zona Alfa, and honestly I think all these kits will do the job, they're not overly futuristic and the weapons still look appropriate, mixing some Frostgrave heads and bodies in the mix will probably be perfect!
Great miniatures my favourite is the Mercenary set. Found compatible with Wargames Atlantic Space Dwarfs and the Stormtroopers. Very easy to put together.
I got the Mercenaries box during the Nickstarter, but this is the perfect occasion to browse carefully the other boxes. I think I could do with a Crew box to fill in some gaps in my crews...
Been really enjoying all the in-depth reviews gaming and painting and really after all this wouldn’t mind getting into this game! Also it’s the weekend so happy weekender!
Great review Gerry...love the different look of each set. I agree the mercenary pack looks the coolest as I would go for more aliens. Again, great review.
As Gerry said, these work so well in any sci-fi game, be it war/skirmish or RPG. Personally, I'll be using these first of all in Five Parsecs from Home as that's what I'm currently playing but as soon as our club starts meeting up again, I'll be looking to recruit some Stargrave players and it'll be great to have a bunch of painted minis ready to rock from the get-go.
I like them all 👍🤩 ill paint some troopers like the bad batch. And some crew as han solo. Mercenarys will be like bounty hunters. Maybe a gina carano too.
Fantastic set of kits, as ever. Looks like you could easily use bits from Bolt Action infantry sprues as well for even more flexibility. Definitely going to pick up some of these.
Yep. These are immidiately going on the shopping list (well, as soon as I know I didn't win any). And then to perhaps scrounge up some more options for alien heads from a galaxy far far away...
Don't forget Oathmark, these can kit bash with those and the new Wild West minis coming out next month from Northstar. I'm definitely making space elves and a firefly crew lol
You missed you chance with the Mercs box. Monkey head + Deck = Code Monkey for Hackers :). I have already made some Gnouls with various weapons as well.
some very nice sprues, almost too many options when you add in the Frostgrave & Oathmark box sets too, hopefully the next bos will be a captain/1st mate set like the Frostgrave wizards box
These seems a little chunky, remember the early Citadel's imperial guards but better done. Could be useful for conversions, but the only problem is how well they merge with other brands (the mercenaries' sprue seems the most interesting). Any comparisons' pics?
I do hope that they include some more hand weapons in a future box beyond daggers and knives. I could swap in arms from Frostgrave, but I’d prefer hand weapons with a more futuristic aesthetic.
My only concern is the kits and the armour types. Looks like it might be hard to represent the difference between Light, Heavy armour etc.. But they look lovely as sculpts.
The troopers box makes an excellent generic army / law enforcement force for a heap of games. Looking forward to having a play around with all the boxes though - throwing in some random Frostgrave parts will be an added bonus!
The modularity of these kits really sold me.
I like the modularity where you can mix and match especially between sets!
So many bits... A golden mine for conversions, though they already look great
North Star keeps making great, affordable, kitbashable kits it seems. Well done!
Great stuff, really helps to see what are on the sprues before buying. I probably won't bother with the trooper box, the crew and mercenary kits look a lot more varied.
I love the thought of having a sprue from half a dozen kits and just going nuts with it!
So much potential in these boxes, plus they're even compatible with the Frostgrave plastic figures too... Fantastic!!
I want to get some with friends. Swap a couple of sprues around so we have the whole range of options.
Great idea!
Now all I need are some friends 8(
Sure there will be quite a few floating around on eBay :)
Nice to watch a review where you can actually see the sprues, and then some made up. Thanks again Gerry.
Awesome, thanks for showing us whats in each box.
It's going to be fun to assemble my minis and painting them! With the gnolls and cultists we got with the Nicstarter, me and my budy are not going to run out of pirates!
Thanks for the vid!
1 set of each and you have loads of possibilities. Need to get a crew box!
I really like the fact you can mix and match the different kits. Great Idea.
I have to say the 5 different videos for Stargrave this week have definitely made me wanting to see many more. Even if I don't win the videos were worth viewing
Best display of exactly what you get that I've seen so far. Thanks!
Thanks! It's cool that you can buy official minis as well as use things from your existing collection.
Such a fantastic range of options across the 3 box sets.
I cracked. While I was out shopping this afternoon, I bought the rules. I'm thinking of trying it in 15mm as a friend and I already have some 15mm SF terrain (and I've got loads of suitable figures lurking in my lead pile).
That’s a great move. If I didn’t have a huge investment in 28mm I’d definitely go 15mm. Many Great 15mm sci-fi line at great prices.
Love these sets. Plenty of options for customizations. The troopers could easily be used for a custom astra militarum.
exactly, except I had some spare cadians floating around- enough to make a great crew - so I will be doing the reverse :P
Glad to get a preview of the sprues, these could go for some good conversion bits too!
Certainly does look good - all three of them. I really like the troopers box. Im in the process of painting a few figures for Oathmark and I have to say the Oathmark humans and Frostgrave figures make some nice and varied combinations.
Nice looking kits, I've saved a few heads from my snake-men and gnolls to add to my stargrave crew for a bit of variety :).
Thank you for this. Always great to see inside the box before purchasing. Nice that there alien parts included.
its friday and its a perfect day to watch an unboxing and The Greatest MOvie ever Made
I can see the appeal of getting a variety of the kits to mix and match. Pretty good sci-fi mini's in general, even if you might not be playing Stargrave with them.
Just as with the Frostgrave minis these Stargrave boxes look very customisable. I reckon I could build a few different crews with one box.
I was looking for miniatures for Zona Alfa, and honestly I think all these kits will do the job, they're not overly futuristic and the weapons still look appropriate, mixing some Frostgrave heads and bodies in the mix will probably be perfect!
Thank you for the Stargrave week. It looks like a fun game. Will you be looking at the solo options?
Great miniatures my favourite is the Mercenary set. Found compatible with Wargames Atlantic Space Dwarfs and the Stormtroopers. Very easy to put together.
I got the Mercenaries box during the Nickstarter, but this is the perfect occasion to browse carefully the other boxes. I think I could do with a Crew box to fill in some gaps in my crews...
They really look great. I love the variety of the heads
Been really enjoying all the in-depth reviews gaming and painting and really after all this wouldn’t mind getting into this game!
Also it’s the weekend so happy weekender!
The mercenaries have so much character. Clear winners!
These minis look great, amount of build variance impresses me a lot
Great review Gerry...love the different look of each set. I agree the mercenary pack looks the coolest as I would go for more aliens. Again, great review.
As usual north star miniatures do not disappoint, those are some great looking sculpts
I’ve been wanting to learn more about Stargrave - thanks!!!
Amazing coverage this week! So glad this game is getting the love.
I actually like the troopers but it is so great you could use other miniatures in this game from say Infinity, Gates of Antares and 40k
Very nice looking plastics, which could be used in many different games.
More likely, you could combine these with the Frostgrave and Oathmark sets. Barbarians with laser guns, anyone?
This game ticks some many creative boxes I've been waiting for haha
I love the options that this kit comes with
It looks like each set has a lot of variety!
Great content all week, thank you guys 👍
What beautiful and interesting sprues, love how good, yet simple they all are
These minis look really good, and the game looks fine too
Nice that you can mix and match the sets to make some interesting crewmates :)
I already have so much to do, but the low model count of this game makes it super appealing.
The boxes look great with a lot of options for swapping. I wish there were a bit more alien heads on the sprues though.
I like all of them but it looks like the ships crew box has the most variety with the mercenaries being a close second.
@Gerry mcCabe Not enough aliens for ya? 😆
I've purchased all 3. The troopers painted up really do like oldskool imperial guard
Loving the stargrave content... thank you OTT!
Seeing the contents is helpful to decide
Some nice looking minis. Awesome for kit bashing
I recently bought the rules and have been looking around for some figures. Have looked at Northstar and Wargames Atlantic figures.
I love the Frostgrave minis, and these bring everything that made them great to Sci Fi! Can't wait to get ahold of them!
These look amazing! I see so many possibilities. Hope I can get some soon.
This game looks to be amazing. I'm super pumped to try it. Maybe incorporate it with some d20 rpg action.
Well that was a very good breakdown of the boxes.
Looks like an awesome system. I'm excited.
There is a nicely converted crew with Frostgrave gnoll heads pictured in the book
The Merc set is especially good. Looking forward to building these and I have high hopes for future v2 female sets.
Looking good! I think I'll have to grab a set or three.
Great sets, with the frost grave setst you get even more options :)
Great Game. Lots of variety in kits
On vacation for the next week and a half. Looking forward to playing this. Had the rules pre-ordered but haven't played yet.
There's loads of options there, I've got so many ideas of what I'd like to do now!
Thank you showing the boxes.
I love the badger heads, to quote the immortal Mr Badger, thump 'em & thump 'em & thump 'em, preferably with a heavy carbine/ rapid fire gun
Yeah Hello looking forward to mixing these up and raiding the bits boxes for my own take on Scum and Villainy of the Galaxy
Mercenaries looks awesome I need some alien troops to mix up my collection, nice vid guys thanks for keeping us up to date on the latest
Nice to see what's in the boxes
I enjoy their minis and love the options they include
Lots of options. Nice.
I have seen some decent starwars rebels and stormtrooper gangs made with these sets. I might try a similar build.
Nice customizable models.
And compatible with their other sets (the nickstarter had a 'free' gnoll and cultist sprue)
Great sets, really like the alien heads, hope we get some alien bodies in the future.
They look like fun minis to build
Waiting for my meds box but I think I'm going to need a crew box too. Really wanted the alien heads
Lots of possibilities there!
Crew and mercenaries are my most wanted at the moment.
Love the Stargrave coverage!
I definitely need to get a box or two of these.
These seems a little chunky, remember the early Citadel's imperial guards but better done.
Could be useful for conversions, but the only problem is how well they merge with other brands (the mercenaries' sprue seems the most interesting). Any comparisons' pics?
Great sets. Good show.
Definitely thinking of using the troopers for some near-future wargaming, not many models at this scale for a decent price.
I picked up the mercenaries box and have been mixing it with Frostgrave minis to make some exotic looking aliens.
I've a box of each (through the Nickstarter), in storage until my birthday.
I just picked up the book. Would be awesome to have some minis to go with it so I can teach my partner. 😊
I like all the different options on the sprue
The troopers box makes an excellent generic army / law enforcement force for a heap of games. Looking forward to having a play around with all the boxes though - throwing in some random Frostgrave parts will be an added bonus!
