I wonder if anyone really understands the immensity of this man's talent. To those unversed in South Indian Classical Music, this might look and sound like "an Asian gentleman playing a primitive leather-hide drum".
In basic terms (although the intricacies of what he is playing are beyond a simple description), he is fitting complex repetitive diverse-measure patterns into a fixed measure. This is like precisely fitting repetitive inch-measures into a meter-measure.
    Now go figure that out!

Hi there. I'm transcribing this amazing piece but i can't understand (yet) what's the phrase he plays in 1:37 and that plays repeatedly during 1:44-1:47. Do you have any ideas on this? I could the first four/five strokes as part of a septuplet, but the second part i really don't get it. It's like 10 sounds long, right? Thanks!

Beautiful instrument, beautiful video., beautiful playing!
    Hi everyone!
Would you still recommend this drum for young athletes/sports people?
I wanted to ask if playing with a heavy drum on your leg for long periods (i.e. for arrangatrams/long shows) can cause postural problems that are difficult to reverse?
I'm just noting that the two hips will be in asymmetrical positions, as will the spine. Will this not affect the long term arrangement of the hips and spine?
I've had this happen to me and I wondering how common this can be? It's given me a limp, and has left me unable to play any sport since I was 13, and means I take pain killers every day (since the age of 18). My teachers (who were doctors) didn't mention these side effects, and deny these are common side effects but both walk with a visible limp.
Anyone else in a similar position?
