Second, when I say he's really smart, I'm talking about his foresight with where the internet would end up. I always knew he wasn't an idiot, but he shows a business savvy that would be impressive no matter who he was, even though the company itself failed.

Ultimately he let her go bc he knew she couldn't be a Stepford wife (hosting benefits, choosing fabrics and all those shallow things rich ppl do to amuse themselves), she was destined for greater things ...

I'm sure I forgot a few things but all in all, I'd say he did a lot of stuff to make her happy :- )
