The Pastor?! I asked before Steve did. Why go to a church if you don't like the Pastor? - Answer: We go to Mosque for worshiping God, not our Sheikh or Pastor since they're humans just as we are with their own struggles and shortcomings. We gather to worship and please God.

Probably something the kid said when he first introduced himself. This wasn't the first round, Steve always asks the people for their jobs or hobbies in the first round.
Sexist dating advice too. Like she can't walk to her own class and arrive safely? She needs to be accompanied by a boy? And he should be an engineer to pay for her? She can't pay for herself? And she got to have a "sporty body" cause that's all we can offer, a hot body? Ridiculous. These old men need to shut up.

Gender roles even play into my religion and probably others' religions too. The "Sporty body" thing is just an appeal to the kid's age. Generally for teenage boys crushes stem from physical attraction, especially when talking about a hypothetical future suitor. It's really not sexist and I'm not sure why you must over complicate it and be offended.

I'm from a Muslim country and that name is very common. Although the spelling is different, the pronunciation is still the same. And it still means "high", "elevated" or "champion". You know that name is from Arab world right?

For Muslims watching, is Steve's advice to the guy culturally acceptable? One thing I love about the show besides the families is the cultural differences among the people.
It wasn’t, no. I’m sure they know it’s all in jest and how Americans act.
sure. Anyone can give advice. It's not like he's going to get beaten at home for listening to the advice or something. He might not follow any of the advice or all of it. He's 19, he's not going to be doing this later in life. There is no one "Muslim" culture anyway.

My inner feelings senses that the Allie family is not only a Muslim, but also a Malay (Malayu-African) descendant. Those names are widely used by Malay race in the Malay Archipelago (South East Asia) that includes Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Singapore, Cambodia, Siam (Thai)..
That name is in Arab and widely used by any Muslim around the world.
The Dutch did transport a lot of slaves from Malaysia to South Africa back when they colonized it
