Hiya mate We only started caravanning last spring, when we retired. We have been out quite a lot since . At first it seems a bit daunting but we found most people on the sites are really helpful if you are stuck with a problem. One of the main things that helps us are the videos that are on here from people with years of experience. We find the best way is to use site showers and toilets , just use your toilet for a pee in the night. We have been to 11 different sites this year and all have had spotless shower blocks. Hope to see you out and about next year.
You are doing a great job with your maintenance. Hopefully that will lead to many happy years caravaning. When using your drill on the corner stays, make sure you use the low speed setting on the drill. Or maybe, now they run easier, you maybe happy to wind by hand.
You did a good job on the caravan. The washroom looks a lot better with the new sealant. White grease on the threads of your corner steadies should help prevent corrosion. Your drill should be up to the job. Maybe you need to change the settings or make sure the battery is not on the way out. I use a cheap Einhell cordless drill on mine which I keep with the caravan.
Thank you. yes wash room did need a bit of new sealant didn't want any leaks lol, I do need some good grease the WD40 just doesn't last. silly me didn't charge the battery on the drill so that was half the problem lol
1st vlog, get a water fill tube off ebay ,flexible pipe with rubber? end pushes over tap . Toilet bowl will swivel on its base to give better sitting position. We use ours all year including xmas.
I didn’t know if it would put too much strain on the spring, leaving the blinds closed for a long period of time I imagine I will be back down there again very soon
Noticed you did not WD40 the swivel hinge on the drop down leg itself, these often seize up, you did the top two either end on the bracket and the screw thread, you could find if you do the leg swivels, the drill may then be powerful enough to operate the legs up and down. all these little outside maintainance jobs are most important to keep up.
I took it for a service not long after this video and I think they did a much better job then me by greasing the legs as now they move up and down so easy and the drill works a treat
Hello, you don't need to take the cover off when you are using the fire, it's for the water heater only and if you leave the cover on it won't stay lit.
Did you get it tested for damp befroe you bought it. The mould could be asign of water ingres from the seals on the roof and back panel. If you did not get it damp tested when you bought it nyou will need to get a damp report from the caravan service engineer.
Looking at your vid and as a qualified caravan engineer did I see the date correctly on that tyre 5204 ?? It is recommend that Caravan and Trailer tyres are changed every five years.
Hi yes they are getting done after Christmas the caravan is a 2006 so probably someone might of changed that tyre at some point and just put an old one on
When it’s just me and Claire that is what we plan to do if the kids come with us then we will just make the beds up each night as it’s nice to be able to eat at the table
You shouldn't need a more powerful drill for those steadies, they should wind easily by hand, they must be worn or bent, ask your service engineer to have a look at them
Yes you are right as the WD40 did only last a week but we have the caravan service not long after and they used grease and they have be very easy ever since
Your going about it the right way. Have loads of fun and enjoy.

Thank you and I think the main problem was that I didn’t charge the drill
Enjoyed your 2 vlogs to date, enjoy the caravan life, don’t be afraid to ask people if you need help
Thank you
Good luck with your caravaning...most caravaners will always give you help and advice

Hi I would have put the blinds up and shut the curtains like you I enjoy doing jobs on the caravan John
I didn’t know if it would put too much strain on the spring, leaving the blinds closed for a long period of time I imagine I will be back down there again very soon
Good job ya getting the idea bud
Thanks 👍

Oh thank you! I was taking it off when I was using any sort of gas appliance lol
Omg this was helpful
Id use a drop of engine oil or 3 in 1 oil after the wd40 it will penatrate more and keep the joints lubed, wd generally evaporates away
Think I will have to give that ago as we just come back from a weekend away and they was pretty stiff again

What mould are you talking about? I don’t remember seeing any We did damp test it and it’s going in for a service on the 5th march

Why not set and leave the rear seating set as a double bed?
When it’s just me and Claire that is what we plan to do if the kids come with us then we will just make the beds up each night as it’s nice to be able to eat at the table

Yeah it’s all getting looked at after Christmas I think my drill was flat as well which didn’t help
Better off using white lithium grease on the steadies.
Yes you are right as the WD40 did only last a week but we have the caravan service not long after and they used grease and they have be very easy ever since
That tyre is 19 years old
That’s the first thing that is getting done after Christmas
