Mild update: In between the video being finished and the public release date a new Monolith recruitment drive was posted for their Kyoto studio, the one that does art and asset support for Nintendo teams located in the same city. This revealed two things: firstly, Tadashi Nomura is the director of this studio, so he's been overseeing that the past few years instead of directly working on games; secondly, the team is stated to do work on Splatoon, Animal Crossing *and* Zelda, so artists like Kanako Uno have likely done all their recent work without having changed teams at all. Reupload to fix an editing mistake, thank you @/logantristar5714 for pointing it out!
29:35 "Honestly knowing a level designer was elevated to director of Future Redeemed makes a whole lot of sense if you think about it for 5 seconds". The level design and system/gameplay intergration *was* really good now that you mention it. The beastiary and tracking enemies for materials to make gems were also very good choices. Now I know who to thank. Thanks Luxin.
Someone I was talking to on discord also pointed out the lack of loading zones in future redeemed. You know what other game has a suspicious lack of loading zones? Xenoblade X
To be fair about Nintendo's secrecy when it comes to revealing the studio who makes some of their games recently, just look at many people's reactions to the developers making Mario & Luigi: Brothership (possibly) and Donkey Kong Country Returns HD. Mario & Luigi got a very warm reaction when shown, but when it was rumored ILCA was making it, people started to backpedal. And then, with DKCR HD, people similarly started to throw shade at Forever Entertainment. I'm not necessarily agreeing with Nintendo's stance, but to play devil's advocate, they could just say, "Why do you need to know who is making this game right now? You'll find out when it releases anyway." You could be cynical and say, "Nintendo just wants to be stupid," but after a person in Japan threatened numerous Nintendo employees which led to Nintendo Live being canceled in Japan, I think that paired with people's recent silly reactions to the aforementioned games make a decent case for Nintendo being secretive. Again, you can disagree, and I understand, but I don’t think we can chalk this up to, "Oh that Nintendo is being so silly and quirky!" The situation sucks, but a lot of people can seem to not call developers "lazy" or similar uneducated remarsk nowadays.
44:41 Small correction. Sonic Superstars was developed by Arzest for Switch, PS, Xbox, and PC. Sonic Dream Team was developed by Sega HardLight for Apple Arcade. Both games released in 2023, just a few months apart, so I can see where the confusion come from.
Monolith Soft could release anything and I would still buy day 1 without flinching. In fact I would rather see a very different game from them now, just to see how they would tackle other genres or styles.
Imagine them doing a Square Enix move à la "Kingdom Hearts". It's a JRPG action game but with original characters, Nintendo characters and Xenoblade characters
Me getting into Xenoblade was a strange journey. It started with me first getting Smash Bros 3DS, thinking it would have a story mode akin to SSE. It didn't, but I still played anyway, picking Shulk simply because he reminded me of one of the characters from Final Fantasy XIII I had been watching Chuggaaconroy around that time and later saw his Xenoblade LP, which was where I learned about the game Shulk came from. I was curious about the game later and picked up the 3DS version of it, only to learn it required the New 3DS which I didn't have. Years later, I would buy my own Switch, with Xenoblade 2 being the first game I bought for it. I enjoyed the game. Then Definitive Edition came out, I very much enjoyed that as well. Fast forward a year or so later after that, and I practically came in my pants at the announcement of 3.

As the 777th like I will use my triple 7’s to bolster your theory that it is a remaster of the ENTIRE Xenosaga series in the style of Also Sprach Zarathustra with the changes made in Xenosaga I & II DS fully realized in 3D and will include remakes of Pied Piper and the Lost Year flash series as playable in game. I mean, we can dream, right?
Damn, that could be a massive idea for a remake. Judging that I/II DS is the almost close version of Takahashi and Soraya. And yes, a updated EP3 artstyle is the best aesthetics to maintain consistency among the remake. Also, if they can update the battle system too, like making one core battle system to all 3 games but implementing some battle features from the original ones, but better.
+TheBeholderist Yeah. Honestly the only thing I wonder about is the music as I loved both Mitsuda’s AND Kajiura’s contributions to the soundtracks. I think maybe finding a way to use both while updating the area tracks of Xenosaga II to either Kajiura or Mitsuda composed tracks makes sense, but it would still be difficult to balance versus just updating the art style and VAs to Xenosaga III’s as those at least are easy to make consistent.
At this point, I feel like Xenoblade X and Xenosaga fans have been inhaling the same copium since the release of Future Redeemed and the "Legacy" codename poped up IMO, either a new IP or a new Xenoblade game fits the current narrative.
Pretty much that means Xenoblade X which means Legacy could be a continuation of Xenoblade X just get out way or Legacy is just a new game. The radio broadcast pretty much indicates that all the games are connected that includes Xenoblade X which is probably billions of years in the future. The coalition government the one that started the Exodus project back in the 21st century are the ancestors, of the humans on Earth 2.0( pretty much a different Earth that's similar) because the same coalition government their descendants came up with the same project billions of years later cuz at the start of the game Lin mentioned they been on Earth 2.0 for 4 and 1/2 billion years that's why I'm saying billions of years in the future. The radio broadcast pretty much saying they're in the same universe just a different time periods and it's in the game which pretty much confirms this Theory: Xenoblade 1-3(20XX-4XXX),Xeno Saga 1-3(4XXX),Xeno Gears(4XXX- 10,000), and Xenoblade X(1billion or 4 billions years) Legacy. That means there could be connection but way in the future though.
One possibility with the idea of "Legacy" and future Xenoblade game is that we're now returning to the old/original univserse - one that had interplanetary travel. This universe has a legacy that predates Klaus's splintering of the two worlds (which XC3/FR portrays both in sort of pocket dimensions). Elements like the Philadelphia Class Motherships and the Saviorite Rebels are legacies of that universe. So a future Xenoblade game might be set in a universe where the life of the merged world becomes exposed to the 'Xeno' that is just those left behind outside of Earth after millenia of different histories has seperated them. It goes with my general theory from XC2 and Future Redeemed, that as we get further into the series the game increasingly puts importance of what happened further and further back in the original history. A game set in the future would be more inclined to look at the legacy further back. Also just in general doubt Nintendo would greenlight a non-Xenoblade game even though MonolithSoft is a proven studio.
With the Zelda comment, I do want to agrue that ground up remakes don't follow the codename conventions. If Monolith Soft were to be working on a Zelda remake, theres a good chance its codename won't be consistent. Not saying that it'll happen, but its not an impossibility.
@@skyriotAndKadeGaming As far as I've heard, Link's Awakening Remake is "Richard". Allegedly, Tri-Force Heroes was "Alice" (IDK if its true or not, its just what I heard). The only naming convention between these and the alleged new codename, "Edward", is they're all mundane real life names, and all of them are by Grezzo (presumably the new Echoes of Wisdom is by Grezzo). That being said, "Richard" is a character in Link's Awakening, which does not apply to the other two code names for these games.
So about that FF14 video next week... On a more serious note I do really really want a Xeno X remake so that is my copium, but just from the code name alone gears or saga makes more sense
if mono was involved w mario and luigi, wouldnt they just say so? their reputation is good and it would lead to more sales.. i think the mario strikers team is doing mario and luigi
Haven’t watched the video all the way through yet, but my instinct is that it’s some sort of enhanced collection of the first 3 Xenoblade games for the switch 2. Not necessarily like Metroid Prime Trilogy, but more like just a collection of switch 2 enhanced versions with higher resolution frame rate etc
3:36 - "The most interesting thing about it is that it's almost certainly NOT a new Xenoblade game..." 11:27 - "All that being said, this could still be Xenoblade 4..." 😅 What?! I thought it was almost certainly not a Xenoblade game, but then you go on to say it could still be a Xenoblade game.
I feel like after watching the GameSpot preview of Mario and Luigi Brothership, the chance of MonolithSoft development is 💹 because of some of the game mechanics (game breaking accessories in particular) and the community development that seems it could be like regional affinity charts. We'll see soon!
I mean I doubt it's xenoblade 4. A couple years away so either a port of X or xenosaga trilogy definite edition style game, not a full on remake not a simple remaster. Also I'd love them to do another Dragonball rpg, especially with how much they can get out of the switch.
I’m watching the video right now so maybe you do address this somewhere along but I don’t think Legacy is actually real. Midori only had information on Atlus and started getting desperate after having nothing but a Atlus/Sega presentation that Midori stole. After Midori traded the secrets from the presentation, Midori retired for one day. When Midori came back, he had information on every company under the sun. Midori started making up information and the only thing Midori got right is Bleach Brave souls coming to ps4. That information was likely traded for while the Nintendo codenames stuff is all fake. Midori said legacy isn’t Xenosaga and didn’t appear to know that Xenosaga stuff was in future redeemed. Midori has zero information on Nintendo. I hate to say it but legacy likely isn’t real because Midori would have had to hack Nintendo’s servers to find it. Midori also said Redwave was the codename for switch 2 when it in reality is an Amazon streaming service. Anyway, looking forward to the rest of the video. Pyoro also got caught as a leaker using the backend of Nintendo e shop website for his leaks and he knew nothing about legacy.
It doesn't matter that much, but you (like every other western youtuber) used a chinese font for the developers' names so the text looks a little off. Probably worth double checking that you're using a japanese font in the future
It looks like the font you used doesn't support chinese characters and the program used some other default font instead as well, so the text on screen is mismatched. if you use a japanese font everything will match and it will look nicer
Ok hear me out, what if “Legacy” is for a xenoblade warriors type game, like hyrule warriors but xeno. This is 100% wishful thinking on my end but I think legacy could fit if it serves as a celebration of the series
Gonna be honest, i cannot take "Beyond the Logos Artificial Destiny Emancipator" seriously even if it is more accurate, it just feels like a word salad to me Like maybe just me but that feels way more forced than the "Builders of a Legacy" version As for blue bloods i feel like mimeosome gets across their function better, but i'm less set in stone on that one
I would say no matter what as long as its a cool game it is worth looking into. Xenoblade is over. The story will continue but not everything needs to be Xeno.
Xenogears remake... They keep removing xenogear music from youtube... Its stupid logic but let me have this 1.... Xenogears wirh blade combat would be peak.....
The new IP game is gonna take a few more years since it’s still in development. I highly doubt such codenames would be leaked in more than a year from now.
It's been obvious for years it was simply placeholder art for their involvement in Zelda TOTK but somehow people still think Monolith Soft is working on a new IP in a fantasy setting. It never existed in the first place.

Funnily enough they use the term "legacy" quite a lot in the blade games, and not just in xbc3/future redeemed
I was really hoping for an X port at the direct, having this at the end of the switches life felt perfect
You aren’t a bird but a white guy???? I’m saddened.
You better be a anime girl then.
@@erkantiryaki5542 i’m not anime but like my pfp, i’m gender fluid so that helps me.
@@Magic_Ice you are genderfluid??? I tought you were American.
@@Magic_Ice Don't you count as a girl in the code though? Or am I wrong?
@@erkantiryaki5542 depends on my mood i am whatever i want. Male, Female,
With the Zelda comment, I do want to agrue that ground up remakes don't follow the codename conventions.
If Monolith Soft were to be working on a Zelda remake, theres a good chance its codename won't be consistent.
Not saying that it'll happen, but its not an impossibility.
For example, the Links Awakening remake doesn't follow any naming conventions at all
@@skyriotAndKadeGaming As far as I've heard, Link's Awakening Remake is "Richard".
I hope the next Xeno game, whatever it be, will come to switch 2
Most definitely will
Clearly Legacy is Catastrophe: Another Day of Crisis, the long awaited sequel to Disaster: DoC.
Now soma bringer 2 will be a surprise :0
LUXIN FACE REVEAL JUMPSCARE
Blue Blood could definitely be mistaken for gangs.
Bloods = gang
Blue = crips gang
But I'm thinking super conservative here as a reason
That definitely sounds like something that would be taken into consideration when localizing
1:19 no.. NO!……NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
oh What Pokémon booster boxes is that behind you?
I will lose my mind it’s a Xenoblade warriors game
if mono was involved w mario and luigi, wouldnt they just say so? their reputation is good and it would lead to more sales.. i think the mario strikers team is doing mario and luigi
You have no idea how glad I am that you look exactly how I envisioned 😂
Midori bringing us a Luxin face reveal was not on my bingo card today
This video went all over the place, lol
I mean legacy is not to nintendo's kinda code names for a Zela but it fits how monolit has codenames
We are dropping the xeboblade chronicles and the next game is not going to be Xenoblade Chronicles 4 but have Xeboblade Legacy.
Well now you need to debate Matt from Yovideogames about this, and also about the possibility of a remake of X. Do it for the content.
Here’s a thought: maybe it’s not a code name and instead the title of a new Xeno series: Xenolegacy.
I also think another (or remake of) Soma Bringer could be possible, or what about a Star Tropics game?
Let's go back to square, Xenogears
Wait, maybe if we get XBX Definitive Edition on Switch 2, we will get a more faithful localization, just like Mario rpg and Paper Mario
They’d have to redo a lot of the voice acting, so probably not.
Need a Xenosaga trilogy on the Switch U
Maybe a Xenoblade trilogy legacy collection or something for the Switch 2 or something like that :P
3:36 - "The most interesting thing about it is that it's almost certainly NOT a new Xenoblade game..."
11:27 - "All that being said, this could still be Xenoblade 4..." 😅
What?! I thought it was almost certainly not a Xenoblade game, but then you go on to say it could still be a Xenoblade game.
Project legacy a new fossil fighters game developed by MonolithSoft and directed by Yokota? A guy can dream
Luxin has broken my hearth more times than all the guys I've dated :(
I feel like after watching the GameSpot preview of Mario and Luigi Brothership, the chance of MonolithSoft development is 💹 because of some of the game mechanics (game breaking accessories in particular) and the community development that seems it could be like regional affinity charts.
There were two code names for zelda. One was 2D one was related to botw. Separate things
I thought we already determined it was the new Mario & Luigi game

If it's not Xeno I hope it's either Project X Zone 3 or Pokepark 3
XENOGEARS!!!!
Zelda Remake or Original Fantasy IP
The like button glowed at the beginning just because you said like. I kind of don’t like that feature.
No sound?
There's sound, that happens sometimes when a video has just been uploaded.
Ok hear me out, what if “Legacy” is for a xenoblade warriors type game, like hyrule warriors but xeno. This is 100% wishful thinking on my end but I think legacy could fit if it serves as a celebration of the series
If it was a Xenoblade Warriors type game then it wouldn't involve Monolith at all. So its definitely not that.
@@JaidynReiman true true
Gonna be honest, i cannot take "Beyond the Logos Artificial Destiny Emancipator" seriously even if it is more accurate, it just feels like a word salad to me
Like maybe just me but that feels way more forced than the "Builders of a Legacy" version
As for blue bloods i feel like mimeosome gets across their function better, but i'm less set in stone on that one
You know, I don't really see the point in code names if there are naming conventions depending on the series.
yo transformers devastation is a fucking AMAZING game
whatever Monolith Soft are working on its for the next console not for Switch 1
I would say no matter what as long as its a cool game it is worth looking into. Xenoblade is over. The story will continue but not everything needs to be Xeno.
Xenogears remake... They keep removing xenogear music from youtube... Its stupid logic but let me have this 1.... Xenogears wirh blade combat would be peak.....
The whole segment on Kanako Uno was insane whiplash that is some crazy wide scope in terms of games. Hope she's on the next monolith game wow
9:33 No wonder the localizers changed it.. the nane sucks
LUXIN FACE REVEAL!!!
Watch it be Xeno Warriors or something
X sequel?
Weren't Monolith Soft working on a fantasy game? Or was that cancelled? 'cause if not, I think that might be Legacy.
The new IP game is gonna take a few more years since it’s still in development. I highly doubt such codenames would be leaked in more than a year from now.
@@therealjaystone2344 Ah, alright then.
@@therealjaystone2344 How do we know it's in development?
It's been obvious for years it was simply placeholder art for their involvement in Zelda TOTK but somehow people still think Monolith Soft is working on a new IP in a fantasy setting. It never existed in the first place.
luxinoblade
Rated M Dark Fantasy?
You look like Tobey maguire and jacksfilms
Luxin face reveal!?
I'm sorry, fam, but live action you looks like Sheldon from Big Bang Theory. XD
Still on the copium that they’re holding Xenoblade Warriors for Switch 2 so it actually runs
Xenosaga Remake! Xenosaga Remake! Xenosaga Remake! Xenosaga Remake!
Please! I need to play these games
Bandai would have to make a decision
9:07 blue blood is slang for police which has a negative connotation in the west
I though that was some descendants of Nobility ?
36:30 Kanako Uno's credits list makes a lot more sense once you realise all her non-Nintendo credits are on Platinum Games titles
Metal Gear Rising
Bayonetta 2
Transformers Devastation
TMNT Mutants in Manhattan
She was likely doing freelance work for/employed by Platinum Games during this time
Goofy aaah code-names
Legacy is clearly code for a disaster day of crisis remake
Xenoblade Warriors
Hope not
