My apartment has "boob lights" in the hallway. Thanks to the internet calling them "boob lights" I get to always think "boob light" when I see them now. Thanks internet. 👏🏻🔆💡
I'm a new subscriber and I love your channel 🤗 the humor in this just sealed the deal! You've helped me understand interior design and decor concepts very quickly and easily which no one else ever has! You're not too technical, and offer the key words and points to each subject without a bunch of extra fluff which I appreciate ✨ ✨ Thank you!
I've *always* thought those lights looked like boobs, even tops of some temples are the same just in reverse lol 🙊 now I know they're called flush mount lights, where and why people use them, and alternatives to get the same benefits of a flush or semi flush mount; just a better design and approach than the boob lights LOL
You crack me up! But ok, I get disliking the cheap ones, but those 1890’s lights you showed are so pretty! I think this has to do more with overall quality than hating a dome shape. Do we think the cathedrals of Italy and churches of Greece have “boob roofs”? I genuinely don’t really think they look like boobs anyway- at least, not my boobs…. 🤷♀️
New fan. Just discovered your channel and love your videos. Suggestion for a topic: Colored lights. I just got new smart bulbs that let me select millions of color shades. Do you have any tips for using them well? I don’t want to look like a nightclub. We pick our wall paint and curtain hues carefully. So how does this new technology fit in? Do we use the same colors in our design palette or do we try contrasting or similar but complimentary shades? I need the download. I know you can help.
“You are committed to replacing the boob and wise brought to know that hanging a colander from your ceiling maybe isn’t the best way to go…..” This sentence will never not be funny. Ever. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
My grandma tied a tassel to the the "nipple" of the boob light in her kitchen. To this day I'm not sure if she was blissfully unaware of her decoration choice, or if she had a sense of humor.
I can't replace the lightbulbs in my hallway booblight because I can't figure out how to access them! But this is it. I've now taken the decision to replace the whole thing (if i can just figure out how to get it down...🤔)!
Boob lights are also less ugly than those builder-grade square glass ceiling shades that were EVERYWHERE in the '60s and '70s. Ugh, the bane of my childhood. They ALSO gathered dead bugs and were even more charmless than boob lights.
I have seen plain 3” chords hanging from a flat round fixture mount in may color no shade exposed bulb for $7 tenants can hang their own shade if they choose. I’d rather have no light fixtures or a switch operated plug than a boob light.
The fact that they don't look like parts of the human anatomy gives them more leeway, I guess. And since they are not the cheapest option available, they are people's actual choice, not just what the builder was willing to pay for.
Oh no! I have a hanging boob in my kitchen, which I actually like! Its got character, like the apartment complex, built right after WWII for returning servicemen/women and their families. Ok, back to the video.
Edgy boob light made me chuckle... but the accidental boob ceiling made laugh out loud. haha. I almost wish I could create that in my house just to see if anyone will say something. :)
Oh my gosh! I have boob lights! LOL Thank goodness not in every room. We moved here in August 2020 and had one in a large dining room ... huh ... but we had our pretty chandelier to put up from our other home. Ahhh one less boob light and three to go!
Boob lights are a victim of their own design success. They have no real issues. They're reliable, sturdy, unobtrusive, functional, easy to install, easy to change bulbs, easy to clean. They give reasonable light diffusion if the glass treatment is decent, not as good as a shade, but better than a lot of prior ubiquitous fixtures. As a result they are mass manufactured in vertically integrated processes for cheap. Then, because they're cheap, they became associated with cheap apartments, cheap flips, etc, which tainted their reputation. They're only considered "ugly" in retrospect due to their commonness. At one point they were considered a significant aesthetic upgrade over a simple globe fixture, but such is the nature of generational trends. Semi-flush drum shades have most of the same qualities, except much better light diffusion & the lack of prominent rim makes them almost disappear against similar colored ceilings when turned off, leading to a lower visual noise aesthetic, but I'm sure soon enough they will become "too popular" and considered ugly too. Even though the ugliest light fixtures always involve bare bulbs that stab you in the eye with light, but somehow those come back on trend at least once a generation, then everyone realizes why they're trash.
I know this is controversial, but honestly, as a lesbian, I love boob lights. I put them all over my home, and they don’t look out of place. Probably because my home is from the 70s but nevertheless

Me too~~~! I am glad I am not alone....lol.
Me too, ...after watching this I so want to change them.
Many, many props to the David Attenborough impressionist!
He was brilliant!! 😅
National Geographic should pick this up 😂😅
"The edgy boob." You made me snarf my tea and for that I am grateful ☺
The post baby boob light image in the thumbnail did it for me ☕️☕️
This was so funny. I was telling my husband about boob lights the other day and he had never heard of the term and thought I was just being weird.🤣

I love the boob light in my 1940s kitchen. It’s like ones from the Victorian era (my favorite style).
LOLOLOL BOOB ROOFS omg now I can't un-see / un-think this next time I see the European architecture
@@grammarnazi12 Sorry! 😂
Despised by designers. I don't mind them. I don't understand the hatred.
More David Atenborough guy!!! 😆
Yes, so correct about the reason why they're purchased. Boob lights are about $10-$15 per light, cheaper if you're a contractor.
And that intro! Incredible 😂😂😂

Welcome back, Posh Pennies. Hope you're enjoying the new house!
We've got boob lights in our rental at the moment, can't wait until I live somewhere were I get to choose my own lighting fixtures!
“You are committed to replacing the boob and wise brought to know that hanging a colander from your ceiling maybe isn’t the best way to go…..” This sentence will never not be funny. Ever. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Glad to see you're back! Super informative as always. 😆😌😌
Missed your previous 2 videos, gonna go back and make sure they are watched! 😤
❤I like the boo... flush-mount dome lights. They are retro, campy, and famous.❤
This is one of the most hilarious intro’s ever. Great vid!
I just bought my first home and it has three boob links thank you definitely will fix it
What about dated ceiling fans in apts or rentals???
The captions on this video are wild
Love the Richard Attenbourgh voice over in the intro lol. Thx for the vid, big fan of the channel
My grandma tied a tassel to the the "nipple" of the boob light in her kitchen. To this day I'm not sure if she was blissfully unaware of her decoration choice, or if she had a sense of humor.
I love this video and the jokey tone! genius!

Unscrew the round, metal part on the bottom of the glass.

Never thought I'd laugh this much on a home decor video LOL
So funny. A special prize for anyone who accurately counted how many times she said “boob” in this video 🤣
Lol I know! I felt like I was 10 bc I kept giggling every time she said it, after about the 3rd time. 😂
I have seen plain 3” chords hanging from a flat round fixture mount in may color no shade exposed bulb for $7 tenants can hang their own shade if they choose. I’d rather have no light fixtures or a switch operated plug than a boob light.
I stumbled on your videos and love them. Such good advice and this video is hilarious! TY!
There are two in my (tiny) kitchen (I didn't put them there) and they don't even match.
Why did you make this video if you weren't going to demonstrate how to change one out?
Oh wow! Boob lights? 😂 This is so funny! Didn’t know they were called that but I hate them with all my heart! Loved this video 😍🙌
Thank you for a wonderful video! May i know where you purchased your eye glasses from?
I am sure 20 years later people will start to have another video saying why we should ban recessed lights.
The fact that they don't look like parts of the human anatomy gives them more leeway, I guess. And since they are not the cheapest option available, they are people's actual choice, not just what the builder was willing to pay for.
Hope that will be sooner
Yeah, those recessed “can lights” are my least favourite actually, I’d rather have “boob” lights. :)
Too funny!! We’ve still got some boob lights in our home that I’ve been impatiently waiting to switch out! Lol
I'm washing dishes while watching this, I realized I'm surrounded my three 😭
LMAO!!!!! TY that was good. Once you see the ''boob'' light you can't unsee it.
You're telling me I can replace it and not just hang a colander in front of it? Crazy!
Oh no! I have a hanging boob in my kitchen, which I actually like! Its got character, like the apartment complex, built right after WWII for returning servicemen/women and their families. Ok, back to the video.
Brilliant :D S was just talking about these this morning!
Edgy boob light made me chuckle... but the accidental boob ceiling made laugh out loud. haha. I almost wish I could create that in my house just to see if anyone will say something. :)
These are in my apartment, and I hate them. Just never turn them on unless you are looking for a dropped contact lens.
I would just replace them with ceiling fans.
Whaaat?!? I never thought these would be unpopular. 😁 I couldn't care less, but nevertheless very interesting. 🤔👍
Great video! 😊
Love this video, so informative 👏 👌 👍
That was hilarious 😂😂😂

Edgy boob killed me! 😂
The nightmare of the apartment hahahaha hahahaha hahahaha.
😂😂😂 David Attenborough 😂😂😂 ur hilarious 😆😆😆
1:32 Vsauce vibes 😂😂 Even the music is same. Guess it was intentional 😁
"edgy boob" made me snort :D I waged a successful war against my home FULL of boob lights.
Again…I love your brain.
😂 colander 😂 I’m still laughing
excuse my language, but i am fkin weak lmaooooo
I've been dying laughing the entire time!
I just bought one 😩
Love this video,funny.
I put a boob light in my bathroom a few years ago. I actually like it.
But I never called it a boob light.
Omg I got a booblight real classic toooooooo....
My home is covered in boob lights. I hate them, but lights are so expensive

Missed you.
Haha why such few comments. This was hilarious
I think we should called it dome light😅
1:09, Uhh what? ✊🏿✊🏼? SMOOTH WHAT? 💀
The closed caption does not match the dialog!
Holy cow! I just checked it out and it's crazy!
I guess I'm not so vain to give a rat's butt about what others think of my light fixtures. LOL
lol ok but why watch the video then 🤣
@@PoshPennies Because someone sent it to me. lol :P
Boob lights are the worst. Also, I've never seen a table lamp like the one in the background before and I love the handles!
Still laughing at the video miniature. We don't use the word boob light in french.
I hanged that same fruit bowl in place of the boob light in my kitchen. I thought it looked ok. Especially in the kitchen.
Is that winnie the pooh narrating?
Trending colours 2022 please
Tenants steal fixtures? Wth?
What happened to the name posh pennies?
One of the most disgusting designs that has come out of North America. We don't have that kind of monstrosity in the UK to be sure.
The UK can't afford houses like the US 🤑
@@naylak5718 to be sure, most UK dwellings are much smaller...
What are UK light fixtures like?
