I love how popular the rouge lite/like genre has gotten. It’s something that will never get old because it has so much replay value. I’m am so hyped for this dlc!

Indie games have really made the genre extremely popular, the last of us 2 is also getting a rouge lite mode. If you haven’t heard of these I highly recommend checking some of these out

they probably already had this planned to be released with the original release but might not have had the time to finish it so now its ready this is how the swords men' fights should have been but each character should have had more detail main reason this is seen is because of Eldin rings variety
i’m glad this is coming to give me a reason to install and play ragnarok again. replaying story games isn’t my thing and ragnarok is one of my favourite games of all time, so seeing new content to enjoy within it is beautiful. something to hold me over and give me some of the combat i loved while i wait to see where the next game/s take us.
For those who are saying "it's just a combat arena" let me remind you, it's just like ragnarok but instead of combat replace it with roguelike. A good mix between that and story and i'm pretty sure we'll visit greece aswell there's so many hints about it. Let them cook yall

Mostly excited for the greek era connections. I felt like that was a missed opportunity for Ragnarok and character development. I'm really glad we finally see some more connections to that period
For me, surtr's scorched set or berserker set, i never use anything else, i crushed gmgow with both sets, tried with other builds and still succeeded but i really loved those two sets
I actually never played the original games but I fell in love with Kratos in the Norse games. I do know the basic storyline of what happened but I'm looking forward to this DLC. I actually platinumed Ragnarok just a month ago.
I’ll be honest, i gota relearn how to play this game, despite platinuming it😅 That Atreus part of the story really turned me away from replaying it. Maybe we get an additional surprise or two and we’ll be able to skip cutscene’s and replay story missions. I think that alone would boost the replay ability ten fold

My honest opinion on valhalla is basically this. I don't like the fact that they take away all of your stuff from the main story gameplay. Specifically stat boosting armor, weapons attachments, light/heavy runic attacks, skills mods, enchantments, shield attachments. Because I would think going on a new journey they would want you to be fully equipped. But that's just my honest opinion.

As much as I hate rogue like gaming and it will keep me from playing this DLC, I am still happy they did it this way. I got my perfect Ragnarok experience where the dreaded Niflheim section was gone, and people who loved that section get a whole DLC for them. Am I disappointed I can’t play it? Sure. Looking at the whole picture I think it’s absolutely a win win for all of us.
Finished the first game. Ended up in middle of ragnarok as found it too boring sadly :( so the amount of combos you need to remember just removes fun and immersion imo. Probably will give it a shot but once I don't have games to try and finish it.

that "throne thing" at the start of the video looks very simular to the throne where kratos sat on(in the end) of god of war 1 or god of war 2 and the greece soundtrack + the cyclops in the end(wat already was a surprice from greece) of the reveal trailer. in one or another way we are going to experience some greek "surprises"while playing the DLC
What does giving us a free DLC do though? It gives millions of people who love god of war to keep loving god of war. If or when they do another one. You bet your arse everyone will still be STOKED to play it. They’re keeping their customers extremely happy. It’s a win/win.
i was very hyped for this until it was revealed that it was a rogue-lite release. im not really a fan of that genre. dont get me wrong. im glad its free, but personally i'd rather have paid for a traditional GOW style expansion than got a rogue-lite release like this for free. just my personal opinion.

Yeah everyone talking about that they wanted to see old enemies like magni and modi thor or even ares or zeus, but tbh i want to see Vili and Ve, the brothers of Odin in norse mythology because they do exist in god of war universe but we never could actually see or at least know what happened to them i hope In DLC we will at least know what happened to them.
Santa Monica has another hit on their hands with GOWR tbh BUT…..😂 there’s one thing about this entire experience I didn’t like that sticks out, I finished the game and 100% everything about 2 months after buying it, the amount of fights you encounter that are really designed to be hard only because your enemy can spam unblockable moves or simply step through extremely slow animation “special moves” to damage you severely while you’re literally stuck in animation and can’t even react if you wanted to. That’s about it though💯
I’m all for this. I 100 percented the game and literally spent hours roaming through the map trying to find more enemies. I’m not going to put this down until GTA 6.
There will be some story. Still is an epilogue. But for a free dlc this is extremely awesome. And we haven't even seen anything. Could be that there's a lot of story in it but i wouldn't count on reeeally big things

It doesn't really matter because the combat of the Norse games is fundamentally broken and forever will be inferior to the Greece games. Let me explain why: In the original games whenever health spawned on the map it would just automatically be absorbed into Kratos' character model. In the Norse games however, when you see a green health crystal/orb (which is for the player, not for Kratos the character), you have to, as the player, break your combat flow, often times full blown turning your back to the enemies and have them out of camera frame, and walk/run over to the health crystal, abandon any offensive attack button-commands, potentially spam hold on to the shield button because at this point you have zero orientation to where the enemies are and are bracing for an imminent ranged attack, hit O to activate/absorb the health, *then you can resume combat!* And this has to be done every. single. time. you want/need to restore health. At the fundamental core level this decimates and undermines their combat system and is a massive, brain-dead step back from the Greece games. There *so so many* rehashed and remixed ideas from the Greek games, that if I listed them all out you'd be shocked at how much a copy 2018 actually is of the OG games, but what is most shocking is that of all the things they couldn't/didn't implement the same style of health absorption.
the health stones can literally help you in combat. they can be used to disrupt an enemy attack and stagger them in the process, and in GOW4 if you use the cod of war set, they are a dangerously powerful damaging attack as well. the health stones are an extremely valuable combat resource and don't disrupt shit.
I got a question about those chaos blades cuz krates throw them away and how they came back to him if they can't be called when they need. But its good to see free dkc

This combat system in a roguelike setting is like peanut butter & chocolate. Not difficult to add story cutscenes in between levels.
