- 2009 NY Panorama Champions Pan Sonatas run through their tune of choice, "Bandoleros" sung by Tunapuna Scanty and arranged by Yohan Popwell, in the panyard the night before Panorama (9/4/09)
Yohan keeps it sweet and simple!
all arrangers sound like each other cuz music is an art to be interpreted...this rendition of bandeleros was amazing and sweet... i loveed it...our version of magic drum was different from any other casym panorama song...you juss really have to listen to it...wen it gets on da web den listent and come back with that boogsie talk...boogsie is great but this year his magic drum was weak and ours was strong and although we aint get a win we actually deserved it dosent mean our song was bad

Yeah have to say this was a boss arrangement truly deserving on a panorama champion.. You doh have none ah de other bands or what? Would be nice to see or hear dem
Honestly, take it as an honour to be associated with All Stars..if you understand who All Stars is in the steelband movement. Its like saying your College basketball team reminds you of the LA Lakers or something

Ok not to sound arrogant or brash but a wise man recently told me...Sonatas came 1st ADLIB came 2nd and CASYM third...no matter what negative comment you have to say about Sonatas they still won and that's not changing
Fact is we won...end of story. ADLIB gave us a run for our money but we realized that this is a performance not only about pan. We performed our asses off, singing, dancing, etc. Would ADLIB beat us if it was only music alone?... maybe, maybe not. But fact is we did what we had to do and won, so while others were "put to sleep" the judges sure as hell weren't
After listening to Adlib CASYM and Pan Sonatas I have to say that Jit Samaroo and Boogsie has a strong incfluence on the arrangers of those bands. I know you guys are young but check out Renegades "Iron Man" and "Bees Melody" along with Phase 2 "Fire Down Below" and "Pan in Yur Ras". The arrangers took alot of Jit and Boogsies old music and style. I think its time for them to get their own style and way of music to keep pan moving foward.
oh please... do you know when we started? obviously you dont... We also worked our asses off... even if a band didnt win i feel that every band puts in a reasonable amount of work in before they even think about getting on that stage... so saying that you worked your asses off is like saying that the sky is blue and water is clear. and btw LOTS of people said your band didnt deserve that win...
other bands acting like we CHOSE to learn the remainder of our song when we did, we (the players) had no control over that. secondly i never said we did the same amount of work, i simply made the point that we all work hard when panorama season comes around.
Lemme clear the air about this panorama...I am from casy for starters...I feel like we should've won and so did the rest of the pan world...that night sonatas and adlib as well as spectators congratulated me and said no matter wat the judges said we are da champs...next year we will try again like every other band and thass that...think of it this way this year music was so good we have alot to download lol
To compare Pan Sonatas to All Stars right after we win panorama suggests that either we copy choreography or copy music from All Stars. Trust me I used to love All Stars but Sonatas is already known as a major heavyweight in New York pan. The only thing Pan Sonatas should be also called are 2009 Panorama Champions...nothing more
Regardless of who you wanted to win give credit where credit is due because if CASYM won a whole mess of people would be singin a whole new tune so keep yuh bitterness to yuhself. And the point system couldntve been messed up this year, there were seven judges with a hi-lo point system and Sonatas still won by double-digits anyway. Some bands really do work there asses off and some wait till last minute.
Actually I stick to my guns about what I said. In the past other New York bands have used fireworks, pyrotechnics, firecrackers, smokescreens, and the like. Even this year Sesame Flyers used confetti during their song, so yeah stage performance does play a huge role. Actually it plays 40 points of a role, the same amount as the arrangement itself. So Sonatas isn't the only band that worked for those 40 but we went more for performance if anything
@Realtalk01234 there's no need to compare Pan Sonatas to all stars, and its not necessary. Sonatas is sonatas and all stars is all stars there's nothing connecting the two. Nothing against all stars but to say that now is in a way downplaying the name of Pan Sonatas.
Otherwise Sonatas I'm alredy startin to miss allyuh, bad bad.

first of all performance or not adlib was no match for this song or my bands song... there song was over composed and there was so much music that it was jumbled together...my band aka the peoples champs were ur biggest competition this year but congrats on the win nonetheless
