Proa "Madness": Launch and First Sail
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 жов 2011
- Clips from the launch and first sail of the 31-foot proa, "Madness," designed by John C. Harris and built by Chesapeake Light Craft. John Pollard and John Harris undertook the shakedown sail, about five hours down the Wye River and out into Eastern Bay and back. We started out under single-reefed mainsail alone, added a 110% jib, and sailed home under full mainsail alone. The boat was definitely not "dialed in" yet---there were sundry minor issues with halyard tension and so on, but we still managed 15.1 knots in one burst. We were busy tinkering, and there was no accompanying photo boat or second unit, so the videography isn't fancy. A web page for the boat is here: www.clcboats.com/shop/boats/wo...
Fantastic boat, the water just lets it go by with no objection at all.
Greetings : I have been looking at your videos of the madness for a couple of weeks and trying to find out about Proa's and how the sails work .... Could you guys do a video on how the sails are worked when tacking or jibing I would really love to see how it all works to find out if a Proa is right for me.
Really great boat! I like her!
Hoping to see how she shunting soon :-)
Any video of the tacking procedure?
very inspirational. would love to own my own proa one day
If they ever do a sequel to "Water World" I think you may have an exotic contender for Kevin Costner's original trimaran. She is magnificent. Your sound track took me back and made me miss our good old Indy 20 like never before.
Lovely to watch, I also would like to see "Madneess" go through a shunt ( tack.) Excuse my ignorance , could you put roller furling on fore and aft jibs. 👍
Dang, now I’m dreaming of ukulele’s and sandy shores
Any news about this proa, I am waiting the complete kit and plan to be ready for sell. I love it boat.
Hafa Adai! I like your proa. \m/ : D
Well Thankyou! Well Thankyou!
I'm really excited about this project, but I'm curious about her ability to stand up to sail without a cameraman on the float. The float just looks so very light, and she has quite a bit of sail. Any comments?
Nice.
Good speed. Any hull lifting of ww hull?
waitaminnit-- what did you do about 8:00- reverse the ama? Or reverse the video LtoR?
IOW, you are returning with the outrigger on the port side!?
Beautifull!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Boat full of personality
Rule Number 1 of UA-cam boating: Take 2 boats!
Easy to handle, looks great***! How does it work in a storm guys?
Handles a storm as well as any multihull that weighs 885kg. Shorten sail and keep a weather eye!
😍😍😍
A bermudan rig on a proa seems a bit odd. How do you tack?
2021.
looks like Indonesian sail boat, "jukung katir"
