Awesome video as always! I don't quite see though, why you would call the first shot you describe "motivated lighting". A light that is symmetrically put behind the subject leads to asymmetrical side lighting. I think it's just a bad example after all because it also doesn't need to be motivated in this highly stylized shot. It's perfect as it is and fits really well with the other futuristic shots! 😊
