    The Battery was under warranty and I guess I should have mentioned that in the video. It must have been a faulty battery. 2-5 minutes after I put it on the trickle charger it would go to green on the charger indicating a full charge. The voltage was good but the cells in the battery were weak and once you put the battery under load it would drain instantly. The replacement battery took a few hours to top up its charge and even on a very cold ski-doo and in cold temperatures it maintained its charge and I made several of them which thinking back I should have recorded as well. The dealership CSR was outstanding to deal with and replaced the battery without question at no cost to me... Must have been a Monday morning battery...

      so if the battery is dead on the field possible start the engine with pull corde

      No not with the 4 stroke, but you can boost start/ jump start them. So you when travelling the back country you want a good strong Battery and it's also a good idea to carry a booster pack.

      I'm glad it helped out. Yes the first time I hooked up the trickle charger I looked to see if there was a video on it. Not to bad if you just remove the back screw and un-do the plastic clip then back off those strut screws.

      @@NLGhostWolf I have sent a few more to your video this year. We have a lot of these sleds in my area. They are a great deep snow ice fishing & camping sled. Thanks again for taking the time to post. I hope someone posts one for my sled - 2017 expedition SE... I know how but there has to be an easier way.

    Thanks for the video! Don't you have a ground cable to fix on the negative pole?
    I had an issue with my battery not so long ago. I bought a used Tundra 600 ace LT 2014 with only 4 500km on the clock. It was in march this year, stored it in my garage and wanted to start it a little last summer but the battery was dead. A month ago I bought the smart charger noco genius 5, did a full charge over 2 days with the "repair mode" then putted the battery back in and it worked. The ski-doo was starting again. But... this week I tried to start it, nothing to do, the battery is dead again. I guess I'll have to change the battery for a new one

    Ending up going with the Tundra Sport in 600 ACE and really like it so far... what mode do you find yourself in most of the time? I don't do a lot of trail riding, mostly poking around our sugar bush but don't find the need to come out of Eco very often if at all. Thanks for the vid Charlie, keep em coming.

    • @NLGhostWolf
      @NLGhostWolf 6 років тому +2

      I keep mine in Standard Mode, mostly because of the hills we have here where I do most of my ski-dooing. If there is a ton of fresh powder and it's on a hill I sometimes switch to sport mode. However I find the Tundra will ride on top of the snow even at slow speeds so most of the time it's standard with the very odd time going to sport. To be honest I never tried Eco in the hills here. Might have to give it a try. Thanks Andrew

Yes our winter is a strange one this year for sure, -17 yesterday but going to +6 today and a wind warning of gusts up to 140 km. That's a Cat 1 hurricane... Thank-you for the kind words and I'll make sure to say something about the battery being under full warranty on the next video I do.

      My battery must have been a Monday morning battery. It would take a charge from the trickle charger almost instantly, within 2-5 minutes from hooking it up. But would drain quickly under load. The new battery works much better and took a few hours to top up on the charger.

    Did you by chance split the pigtail on the trickle and leave it bolted to the battery?makes it a lot easy for off season use,the pigtail will be hanging for quick attach.i leave the pigtail on all my batteries for off season trickle.Also,trickle battery maintainers are just that,there not for charging,there for maintaining the charge of a battery in good state.If you read the brochure,charge a battery first,then maintain trickle afterwards.Just an FYI.Im also stuck on which sled to buy,4 stroke or 2 stroke?Im helpless trying to repair that 4 stroke,and not an electrician with all the computer stuff.2 stroke,easy to repair and maintain,just stinky.

    • @NLGhostWolf

      Yes good points. As for repairing the 4 stroke, the 600 ACE is one of the better engines out there. Very problem free and I can tell you mine hasn't given me any issues so far. Knock on wood...

      Norm this thing gets crazy stupid mileage on a tank of gas. Unlike any other sled I've owned. None of them comes close to it. And once you get use to how it handles, OMG you can put this machine any where. It truly is the mechanical snowshoe... I love it... My next ski-doo if I ever buy another ski-doo, will be a Tundra 600 ACE LT.... It's amazing...

      true north living i dont know what model but ski doo tested the rotax 600 ace with a mxz and and they say it can get up to 29 mpg in eco mode. here's the quoted text from their website:
      "The industry’s fuel economy leader at up to 29 mpg (8 L/100km)* and extremely low maintenance. In-line EFI four-stroke twin with 60 hp.
      Includes Intelligent Throttle Control (iTC) throttle-by-wire technology with shift-on-the-fly driving modes (Sport, Standard, ECO), Learning Key feature and optional finger throttle operation.
      *Data based on internal engineering trail testing on a MXZ in its ECO mode." end quote
      website: www.ski-doo.com/ski-doo/tundra/tundra-lt.html
      disclaimer, i dont own one but im looking into it because i want to move to Alaska and live off grid and i will be needing a good work horse that can handle the terrain and deep snow. i dont know how much she pulls yet, but i asked nlghostwolf in another vid and he said he'll let me know once he starts hauling logs. i was looking into the skandic but i happened across an alaskan forum that said they cant handle rough terrain very well. however that was back in 2010 when the forum was written. i cant find any user info on whether or not this issue has improved. hope this helps!

    There as bad as cars and trucks ,nothing is easy to change anymore. Good that it was under warranty for you. I see some of the newer batteries for motorcycles and cars too are going away from lead acid batteries to AGM and gel dry cell batteries they are much lighter than there lead counterparts and more vibration resistant, but also more expensive lol.

    • @NLGhostWolf
      @NLGhostWolf 6 років тому +1

      You've got that right. Gone are the days of the backyard mechanics, Speciality tools, insane component locations, electronic everything, etc... The last time I helped my buddy work on his car I got my arm all scratched to hell just trying to get access to the part we were changing. Years ago small framed mechanics could sit under the hood and work on the engine, now you need to be skin over bones to get your hand in some spots around the engine... And with so many electrical components, one big solar flare could cripple us...

    • @huntnfishnuts5880
      @huntnfishnuts5880 6 років тому +2

      NLGhostWolf yep you’re right. I have to deal with that every day. Everything now is electronically managed. No carbs all fuel injection. I bought a lot of new diagnostic equipment this year to keep up with the changes in technology I’ve been a professional mechanic for over 20 years and my tool box keeps getting bigger and bigger.

      Yes the expeditions are outstanding for sure, but there's only one sled they call the Mechanical Snowshoe... It's unreal where this ski-doo can go... The expedition would have been a better choice for both the wife and I but I would never part with the Tundra now that I'm use to it. I can't say anything bad about the expeditions though, a buddy of mine has one and he rides with me a lot. He is in one of my videos from last year.
